Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Auntof6! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 2 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Tony Spinosa (coach) - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Thanks!--DASHBot (talk) 06:29, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

These are simple bio-facts; you cannot copyright a job title, for example - besides the original university profile from which the linkedin one is copied is properly cited in this bio. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yellowfinjp (talkcontribs) 11:46, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

2nd AfD nomination for article

I see you created Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Maged N. Kamel Boulos (2nd nomination). However, I can't find any first nomination anywhere. Can you give a link to it? Or is this a mistake? JamesBWatson (talk) 12:00, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Now that I look at it, it was nominated twice before, making this the third time. The records of those previous nominations are here and here, on earlier versions of the article page. Those were removed without being addressed. --Auntof6 (talk) 12:15, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Aah! Now I understand. Those were speedy deletion nominations. There had not previously been an "Article for Deletion" discussion, so this should not have been labelled as a second nomination. JamesBWatson (talk) 12:21, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Oops! Sorry. Should I remove the reference to this being a second nomination? --Auntof6 (talk) 12:29, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
It's probably better to have it cleaned up to avoid confusion, so I have done it. JamesBWatson (talk) 12:45, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
OK, thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 13:03, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

I think you may have just set a record for the number of consecutive posts to my talk page which are all "talkbacks" from the same editor. JamesBWatson (talk) 13:53, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Angarrack viaduct

Hi Auntof6, I have removed the orphan tag you placed on the new article Angarrack viaduct because five or six articles now link to it – that seems a reasonable number for an article of its length and nature. Andy F (talk) 11:35, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Sounds good. That was placed by the AWB tool I was using. Did those other articles link to it when the tag was placed? If so, I'll report that AWB is placing orphan tags when it shouldn't. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:10, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi again Auntof6, IIRC I put either one or two Wikilinks to Angarrack viaduct when I created it. Then I established the other links after I saw the orphan tag. So I doubt if Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser is misbehaving – it encouraged me to put in the links so it was fulfilling one of its functions. Inevitably, however, some articles will by their nature have few links to them. Best wishes, Andy F (talk) 07:27, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Walter Hungerford of Farleigh

Please explain this edit. Have you had read the article and seen the attribution and notice in the references section? If so have you read wikipedia:plagiarism? -- PBS (talk) 11:45, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Also why did you put of Farleigh into bold? -- PBS (talk) 11:52, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

My bad. I wasn't familiar with attribution and sources that can be quoted verbatim. I will definitely read up on that. I put "of Farleigh" in bold because my understanding is that the article title should be bold the first time it's mentioned. I appreciate the education. --Auntof6 (talk) 23:28, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Thomas Hungerford of Rowden

this edit again have you read WP:Plagiarism? and have you any idea if the DNB is in copyright?

Also note as this is the second example that I have seen you do it the line bold line "Attribution" should NOT be a section heading.

-- PBS (talk) 12:04, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

FYI the text was not copied from where you though it might be. The project has its own source for this text please see wikisource:Wikisource:WikiProject DNB and more specifically wikisource:Page:Dictionary of National Biography volume 28.djvu/263. Any help in proofreading those pages will be appreciated. -- PBS (talk) 12:32, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

My bad again. I'll be more careful with this, and will read up on these issues. Thanks for pointing them out. --Auntof6 (talk) 23:29, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Budapest String Quartet

Hi Auntof6--

I notice you undid the links I had placed in the section titles for HMV/Victor and for Columbia - is this because links in section titles are considered bad form? I think it would be a good idea to put those links in somewhere - most people will know Columbia, but His Majesty's Voice might be a problem. And Victor was the US subsidiary of HMV. I didn't post any of the History section (and haven't even read it), but even if HMV or Victor are discussed there, and possibly linked, I suspect no one jumping down to Recordings will ever see it.

I'm not sure it was there already when you went through but you'll notice I have a ref footnote attached to the main Recordings section title. It sort of sticks out at you because I couldn't make it work other than in the same larger size print. But it pertains to both the HMV/Victor and the Columbia subsections, and it's pretty necessary information.

BTW I'm still working my way through adding to the Columbias, so there may be a bunch more added. It wasn't I who set up the page formatting, but I'm trying to stay as consistent as possible. I thought it was important to put in the italicized "(see HMV/Victor, above)" for the few Beethoven quartets done in England, because it's well known that the group made three complete sets of the Beethoven, and the HMVs missing from the Columbia section seemed strange and wrong. There won't be any more like that to be added.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions on either page or entry layout. Thanks for your help. Milkunderwood (talk) 08:15, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Looking around now, I find this in the style manual: "Section names should not normally contain links, especially ones that link only part of the heading; they will cause accessibility problems." But "normally" implies exceptions may be made, and I don't know of a better place to put those two links for HMV/Victor and Columbia. (I'm not sure how they might cause an accessibility problem.) Suggestions? Milkunderwood (talk) 08:46, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi. Yes, my changes were because of that practice. The tool I use, AutoWikiBrowser (AWB), automatically makes that kind of change. The reason I edited that article was that it was flagged has having headings that ended with colons, but I use AWB's ability to make "general fixes" as well, and that's why the links were removed. I see those links in the introductory paragraph; maybe that's sufficient, since there's also a guideline that any given item is usually linked only once in an article. I'm not sure exactly how links in headings cause accessibility problems, either: maybe it doesn't render properly in some browsers.
Yes, I looked at the AWB and saw that's what happened while you were taking out the colons. The links are indeed in the intro, but I'm thinking that people specifically interested in the recordings will just skip over all that and then be puzzled by "what can HMV/Victor possibly be?--never heard of it." The basic problem here is that someone interested in recordings just isn't going to bother with looking at anything else on the page, so it's a somewhat different situation from most WP articles. And that's why I inquired about the possibility of an exception. I thought about adding a line of text beneath the subsection heads, but that info is already up in the intro, and would be duplicated--far worse than just duplicating a link. So really, I'd prefer to put those two links back in.
As for the ref footnote, maybe you could just put it as a paragraph right below the heading it's attached to. Otherwise, it seems OK to me as it is, even though it looks a little funny.
I thought about that, and actually it's probably a better idea to put it directly under the main Recordings section head, so people will presumably know right away what the asterisks mean without having to look down at a footnote--which they won't anyway, just on principle. I'll work on trying to do something presentable with it. But my problem here is that I'm not being "neutral", because the Sony discography I'm working with is a real POS. I was hoping I could get away with guessing at their rationale in a footnote, but that's not going to work in the main text I shouldn't think. I'll work on it some more--maybe put the caution & explanation of "*" up under the head, and my speculations in a footnote? Not sure how to word it so that it's helpful but will also pass muster. And I need to make sure the book's author isn't blamed for Sony's many errors.
Question: "HMV" is "His Majesty's Voice" to you? I've always thought it was "His Master's Voice". It would be interesting if it were different in different countries.
:-) You're right of course! No idea what I was thinking, other than being up way too late. Milkunderwood (talk) 11:20, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
Cheers! --Auntof6 (talk) 10:16, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I think I've got the explanation and footnote fixed pretty well now. I did go back and reinstate the two links that I think are necessary. Thanks for your suggestions. Milkunderwood (talk) 23:13, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome. :) --Auntof6 (talk) 23:23, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

URGENT PLEASE HELP

Hi Auntof6 I was wondering if you could help mediate a dispute between myself and a user called Anonymous on the "Institute for Policy Studies" Wikipage. He is blanking out all the contributions I am making on that site on the grounds that the sources are "from a blog" or "from biased sources" even you these "biased sources" come in the form of government websites, memorandums and established newspaper outlets. Fellytone (talk) 01:41, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

I might, but why are you asking me? I'm not an administrator. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:50, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Henri Bertini: needs translating?

Hi Auntof6, I think maybe in your enthusiasm to keep our encyclopedia clean, you might have been a bit quick to tag this section as needing translating. The items in French are a list of Henri Bertini's works, and are the titles of his compositions. ASFAIK there is no policy requiring such titles to be translated. If I am wrong, please point me in the right MOS direction; However, if in doubt over such tagging and you are able to recognise the language, it often helps to first confer with a registered Wikipedia translator. I have removed the tags in case some trigger happy deletionist just delete the section when the tag's time limit expires. --Kudpung (talk) 06:59, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

You might be right about what the text is. Parts of it just looked more like narrative than titles, maybe because of the formatting (and I do speak French). I don't know, either, of any policy about translating titles. Go ahead and take the tags off if you want: they're still there in the sections I thought needed work. Thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 07:11, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
I've translated what I think needed translating, and removed the tags. I am a native bilingual French-English, and a musician, but I don't know this composer. Perhaps you could just nevertheless cast your eye over them for me. The article also urgently needs references if you can help there. Thanks. --Kudpung (talk) 07:32, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Your rollback request

I have granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe you can be trusted to use rollback correctly, and for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. Thanks

Thanks for your note more or less confirming my observations. Similar to your recent situation, it's good to know that it's not just me. As for the Summary, I'm curious. Did you try going to the Options tab and pointing to or checking/unchecking some of the options, then returning to the Start tab and hovering around the border of the Summary field or on the Summary dropdown button? You're welcome. Yes, I tried that and couldn't reproduce the "flickering" you described. If they ask, I'll post my settings file for them to look at. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:03, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Simeon Simev

Hello Auntof6. I improved the article of Simeon Simev with new additional sources and at this moment several pages link to it. Do you think that the orphan tag should be removed? Best regards.--Relativefrequency (talk) 22:26, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

I think the orphan tag could be removed. I use the AWB function that automatically tags articles as orphans if they have under a certain number of pages linking to them: I don't remember offhand what that number is but, in my opinion, this article now has enough. It would be better if they weren't all list articles (List of poets, List of essayists, etc.), but looking at just the number I think it's enough.
One other thing you might do: for any of the external links or references that aren't in English, indicate what language they're in. It would be better if they were in English, but it would be nice to indicate those that aren't. (Some editors think non-English references shouldn't be used at all.) For example, if one of them is in Macedonian, put "{{mk icon}} at the end of it. If you need any other languages, you can find them at List of ISO 639-1 codes -- use the code in the column marked "639-1". If you want, I can mark one of them for you as an example, if you tell me the language (I'm only guessing about the Macedonian!). You can see an example of what it looks like in the article President of the Republic of Macedonia if you look at the 3rd and 5th references at the bottom of the page.
That help? --Auntof6 (talk) 08:00, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for the informative explanation - it was very helpful. I also removed the orphan tag and, as you suggested, I indicated the language used in the external links and references using the List of ISO 639-1 codes. I will be glad to work with you on improving the Wikipedia. Regards.--Relativefrequency (talk) 10:34, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Id appreciate it , as i am new to wikipedia , and not up to speed with it .

I thought the information would have been of interest to Scottish Clans and Scottish History .

ive just recieved a family tree that links back to robert the bruce , so i thought it may have been of interest to others involved in genealogical research .

Other family members were mentioned in association with mary queen of scots , and at other times , as friends of Nelson in Antigua .

thanks regards Paul

Greater Swiss Mountain Dog article

Thank you soooooo much for helping to clean up this article. I've spent the past couple of weeks revamping the existing article and feel I'm pretty much done, except for finishing the info box. Previous authors did the info box; I've never done one, so I need to research how to do one properly. I doubt I would have ever caught the errors you did. I truly appreciate the help in making this a better article!!! PS I haven't looked this up, but what is DMOZ - the info box at the beginning of the article?Bettymnz4 (talk) 19:35, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome, but I can't take all the credit. I use an editing tool called AutoWikiBrowser (AWB), and that tool found and fixed most of the errors for me. I found the article on a list of articles that have a category specified more than once. I edited the article with AWB to fix that, and AWB does other fixes at the same time.
I don't know exactly what DMOZ is, but it has something to do with the Open Directory Project (which I'm also unfamiliar with). You can read about that template at its documentation page.
HTH! --Auntof6 (talk) 20:09, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for the good clean-up and editing. Two heads and eyes are better than one! However as for the citation that you suggested on the TV early mornings show, I don't really know how to chase that info. All I can say is I have seen it numeorus times. I don't understand your reason for this edit. Quale (talk) 23:08, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

That category was in there twice. I removed one, but it was still there because of the duplication. Now that you've put it back, it's in there twice again, and will show up again in the scan for errors. I could make the edit summary clearer, if you think that would help. Cheers! --Auntof6 (talk) 00:16, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Dang, I'm acting as if I'm blind. Your edit summary was fine. I failed to see the duplication that was in front of me. I think I'm the one who added the duplicate to begin with. Thanks. Quale (talk) 02:12, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Running the bot on Armorial pages mostly removes white space, which makes the source next to unreadable for editing. So I reverted your change, and moved the language link to the bottom, which SEEMED to be the only substantive change the bot did. David V Houston (talk) 01:18, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

RE: Ralph Izzard

I'm confused by the banner you placed on the above noted page. This page is linked to several other pages, outwardly and inwardly. It's cited properly and references very specific topics relating to the subject as well as other pages on Wikipedia. Can you explain more thoroughly? Thank you.

Etrangere (talk) 16:42, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

The orphan tag means that no other Wikipedia articles link to this one. You can check what links to an article by going to the article and clicking on "What links here". At the time I placed that tag, nothing linked to Ralph Izzard, but I see that one article does now. Does that help? --Auntof6 (talk) 16:51, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Hi. Thanks for following up. I understand what you are pointing out now. I guess my next question would be - How do I correct the issue? Is it simply a matter of finding relevant articles and somehow linking them to the article in question? Thanks in advance for your assistance. Etrangere (talk) 19:09, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Yes, that's exactly what you would do. :) IMO, though, it's not extremely urgent. If you're still working on the article, take care of that first. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:45, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Your IDN ccTLD move spree

Dear Auntof6, you have recently renamed Arabic top-level domains to their phonetic transcriptions (السعودية. to .alsaudiah, مصر. to .masr, and امارات. to .emarat). Although I am sure you were driven by good intentions, your actions demonstrate that you have abolutely no idea how internationalized domain names work. To put it bluntly, there ain't no such TLDs as .saudiah, .masr, or .emarat. If you click on http://الشيخ-محمد-بن-راشد.امارات/ in your browser, you get a website, but if you click on http://الشيخ-محمد-بن-راش.emarat/ you get an error message, and that is because .emarat is not a valid TLD.

I am going to undo your moves. If you are so allergic to Arabic that you insist on banishing it from the URLs of articles that are (ironically enough) about making the Arabic language fully usable for URLs, then at least rename them to something technically valid — i.e. punycode (.xn--mgbaam7a8h etc.) --Tetromino (talk) 05:46, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

I am not in the least allergic to Arabic or any other foreign language. I made the change per WP:MOS ("Article titles should conform to Wikipedia's Article titles, including Use English.") and WP:ENGLISH. I'm sorry if I used the wrong English, but in any case they should not be in Arabic. The redirects can be in another language, but the actual article's title should be in English. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:58, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
And by the way, please assume good faith. --Auntof6 (talk) 06:03, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
I assumed good faith combined with a lack of technical knowledge of the subject :) I did not realize that the English Wikipedia banned all use of non-Latin characters in titles (I do most of my work in the Russian Wikipedia, which is significantly more tolerant of foreign scripts). Unfortunately, naming TLD articles following a phonetic transcription results in invalid TLDs in the title that will be guaranteed to mislead the reader; naming them using punycode encoding results in titles that are accurate, but rather ugly. Do you by chance have any advice where I should discuss adding an exception for internationalized domain names to the general article title guideline — Wikipedia:WikiProject Internet, or perhaps somewhere else? --Tetromino (talk) 06:15, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Well, I'll admit to the lack of technical knowledge. Some of your phrasing was just a bit sharp.
I'd suggest Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style to open the discussion on a possible exception. If you open the discussion there, you might also want to make a note of it on the talk pages of the individual articles. --Auntof6 (talk) 06:36, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
I apologize for using language that has caused you offense; I had let emotion overrule my judgment. On your advice, I have started a discussion on the WP:MOS talk page. --Tetromino (talk) 08:10, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi Auntof6 -

I was wondering if you think it's appropriate to remove the banner you placed on the Ralph Izzard article regarding links at this point, or if further linking is still necessary for the article not to be an orphan ( ? ). I'm still working on the article but several links have been added. Any suggestions are very welcome!

Thanks again.

Hardwood Ski and Biked - Deletion because it was not considered Notable

I created a page and it was deleted with the reason that it was not notable. This location is a mountain biking area and the facility will be where the 2015 Pan American Games mountain biking will be held. I'm not sure but the Pan Am Games are a notable event and if you would be able to help me better understand why the page was deleted it would be appreciated.

There are guidelines that describe what makes an organization/company notable for Wikipedia purposes. You can read about them at WP:COMPANY. The main idea is that the company should have been significantly covered in the press, not counting the company's own news releases, publications, advertising, etc. Does that help? --Auntof6 (talk) 15:52, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Please stop making changes to hurricane disambiguation pages; your edits are currently counter-productive, and may be reverted. I'll be happy to explain further. Thank you, Juliancolton (talk) 19:54, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Please do explain, ASAP and before reverting. The changes I'm making are in line with WP:DABMOS. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:57, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Brief by-storm descriptions within dab pages are a long-standing WP:WPTC standard. There was no reason to remove them. You've also deleted important links, which I'm a bit confused about. Juliancolton (talk) 20:02, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Many of the descriptions were not brief, by DAB standards. What important links do you mean? The only links on dab pages are the items being disambiguated. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:04, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Tropical cyclone, for example, which is a term most casual readers do not understand. If the descriptions were lengthy, the solution is to shorten them, not remove them altogether; the latter removes useful navigational information. Juliancolton (talk) 20:30, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
The only links on these pages should be to the actual storms, not to descriptive terms. That's the purpose of dab pages. The descriptions should be just long enough to let a reader distinguish between the different storms with the same name. These are dab pages, not article pages, and this is all explained at WP:DABMOS. (I realize you may already be familiar with all this.) I believe I'm doing things properly, but if you would like to open a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Disambiguation I will hold off and abide by the consensus there. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:41, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Why have you removed the descriptions altogether then? Juliancolton (talk) 00:10, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
My understanding is that there should be only enough description to allow a reader to distinguish between the different entries. (Per WP:DABMOS: "The description associated with a link should be kept to a minimum, just sufficient to allow the reader to find the correct link. In many cases, the title of the article alone will be sufficient and no additional description is necessary.") It seems to me that indicating the year should be enough for that. I did leave some of the descriptions, mostly those where a storm had more than one name. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:23, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
That may be correct, but many readers' knowledge of a particular storm is that "It was named John and it hit my area", and the year is useless to them. On the other hand some may know year of a storm, but not its name. Tropical cyclones are a slightly unusual subject and difficult to write about, so it's necessary to bend the rules a bit in order to make navigation and research easy for casual users. Juliancolton (talk) 01:32, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

(Outdent) OK, I can see bending them a bit. Some of the descriptions were really too long, though -- 2 or 3 lines worth. I wonder if there's a way to shorten them but still leave more info. Maybe something like "Made landfall in X, Y, and Z", or "Threatened A, B, and C, but never made landfall". (With none of those countries being linked.) What do you think?

By the way, there is one good reason for not linking extra things on dab pages. Have you ever used the navigation popups? They have a function that displays all the links for a dab page so you can do a one-click disambiguation. Having things other than the _target items being linked on the dab page clutters that display and makes it hard to find what you want. --Auntof6 (talk) 01:40, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

That would work for me, and it seems like a good compromise. Re. the linking, I've never encountered that issue, as far as I recall, and while it sounds like it would be irritating, I would argue that the vast majority of readers do not use popups, so the benefits of linking complex terms outweigh the downsides. It's not a huge issue, however, since I think tropical cyclone is linked to on almost every storm article. Juliancolton (talk) 02:35, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
OK, then I'm going to pick up where I left off and do the ones I hadn't done yet.
As far as the linking on dab pages, dab pages are specifically not intended to explain anything: they are purely for navigating between different articles with same or similar names. And the popups aren't the only tool that expects dab pages not to have the extra links: AWB does, and there may be others. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:40, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:57, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Celestial dab page

Noted that on 23 June you used AWB to edit the Celestial dab page. The specific part of the edit in question was cited as "Heading levels (WP ck err 7,19,83)". This edit changed subheaders:

  • (==== Section header ====)

to main headers:

  • (== Section header ==)

...just by deleting some equal signs (=). I'm curious about two things:

  1. What does "(WP ck err 7,19,83)" refer to(?), and
  2. What policy or guideline do you know of that leads us to make the changes on dab pages to Main Headers for all the sections on the page?

 —  Paine (Ellsworth's Climax15:31, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

The "WP ck err" refers to error IDs from WikiProject Check Wikipedia. (That page is actually a bit out of date.) That is a project that scans Wikipedia articles for syntax and style errors, and stores results in a database. Editors can look here to find things that need addressing. Those specific error IDs are:
  • 7: Headlines all start with three "=" (partial BOT)
  • 19: Headlines start with one "=" (partial BOT)
  • 83: Headlines start with three "=" and later with level two
I combine those in the edit summary because they all have to do with heading levels and I work on multiple ones at the same time. If you think the edit summary isn't clear, I'm open to suggestions on how to make it clearer.
The policy about heading levels is in the DAB manual of style at Wikipedia:DABMOS#Organizing long lists by subject, in the second paragraph.
Does that answer your questions? --Auntof6 (talk) 02:49, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
Yes, thank you very much! Now just one more question, if I'm not mistaken, the MOS tells us that book and movie titles should be italicized, and I also notice that editors like to italicize record album titles, but not song titles. Your edit piped a song-title link in order to italicize it. Is this a correct and valid edit, and can it also be supported by policy or guideline?
 —  Paine (Ellsworth's Climax21:32, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome! Take another look at my edit on that page: the song title was not italicized, it was put in quotation marks. (Quotation marks are used for song titles, episodes of TV series, and some other things. You can find more details about that at WP:MOSTITLE.) The policy for piping on dab pages is at WP:DABMOS#Where piping may be appropriate. The first bullet item there addresses piping to format titles. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:00, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
Ah. In my browser the doubled italic marks appear the same as a single quotation mark in the edit screen at the top, and I didn't realize this. I should have looked further down at the actual Dab page. So thank you again for the major lesson. I learn something new everyday around here. Best of everything to you and yours!
 —  Paine (Ellsworth's Climax14:15, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome again. Feel free to ask if you have other questions. I don't know everything (I still learn a lot, too), but I'm happy to share what I know. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:33, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

AWB picture removal

Hello. Please see[1]. If it's a script or option you may want to disable it. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 17:24, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

No, I did that manually. I corrected the spelling of the name without noticing that it was in the name of a file. Sorry for the mistake, and thanks for fixing it. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:31, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
OK, no problem. I just thought you should be made aware in case it was automated. -- zzuuzz (talk) 17:33, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

False positive report

The other day you submitted a false positive report because you found yourself unable to edit someone's talk page. If you have not already seen, it was due to an accident in the code of a particular edit filter which was quickly fixed by the MediaWiki software itself. The code has been reverted to the last good version and this should not happen again. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, however; if people hadn't reported it we wouldn't have known there was a problem. I have removed the false positive reports as I felt it was easier to just go to the people who submitted them directly. Soap 23:39, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Josh Felton

Hi Auntof6, I've replaced your sticky prod of Josh Felton with a normal prod for notability. I've proposed at the current RFC that we broaden sticky prods to include articles currently sourced from Utube, but it looks like I may not have achieved consensus for that change. Uncleofseven 13:46, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

references for "davis elen advertising"

what are the best sources for references for this page? I have a couple more links ,but im not sure how to incorporate them. thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Montecito (talkcontribs) 19:10, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

  • I took another look at the article. Some of the external links you included were decent references, so I formatted them as such. In general, references for a company should be neutral in tone, rather than press releases or advertising for the company. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:55, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Fort Gratiot Light

I just wanted to alert you to the fact that you have inadvertently broke the correct usage of {{cite uscgll}} in Fort Gratiot Light. I noticed several times that AWB does this, I think I'll notify them and maybe they'll solve it, but I suggest to be careful in the meantime. Best regards. --Muhandes (talk) 13:41, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thanks for your work in cleaning up Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links/Disambiguation pages that link to disambiguation pages/43 (which is now finished, but for a few hard cases which likely will require the writing of articles to conform to those links). Would you like to collaborate on another section of this list? bd2412 T 02:48, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Well done. Let's pick another - discussion at Wikipedia talk:Disambiguation pages with links/Disambiguation pages that link to disambiguation pages#Next?. Cheers! bd2412 T 13:23, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Bernardo de Muro (Thanks!)

A big thank you for your edits to Bernardo de Muro. I learned a new inline sourcing trick thanks to your work. By the way, somehow I missed I had translated from the Italian version of Wiki, good grief. How do I rectify this? Should I just completely eliminate the reference? (I have other sources, but not many good biographical ones. Without it, I can only verify notability, and little else....) Again, huge thanks. Settlet (talk) 23:09, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome. Here are some ideas:
  • If the Italian article has sources for the data you need references for, you could use the same sources. English-language references are preferred in the English Wikipedia, of course, but sources in other languages are also used.
  • You could do a web search to see if you can find more resources.
If none of those help, I guess just remove the reference. By the way, I just added the Italian interwiki to the English article, and the English interwiki to the Italian article. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:05, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Battle of Jenkins' Ferry article revisions made

Thanks for the quick review of the revised article on the Battle of Jenkins' Ferry. I have added 16 notes with citations and two additional references. I have the location coordinates in a footnote. I added the exact day of Banks' withdrawal from Alexandria and made one or two similar small changes. I think the article is in good shape now. I ran across a web site with some present day pictures of the area. Perhaps the webmaster will permit one of them to be used in the article. There may be photos of the generals around but I did not see any (Kirby Smith, Price, Marmaduke, Steele, Rice) on Wikimedia Commons. Donner60 (talk) 09:18, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

User talk:88.210.238.25

Is there a specific reason why you keep adding everything back to User talk:88.210.238.25? Ishdarian|lolwut 09:39, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Yes. The comments that others and I have left on the page explain the reason. Talk pages should not be blanked the way this user has been doing. --Auntof6 (talk) 09:46, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
According to WP:BLANKING, he is allowed to clear his own talk page. He doesn't seem to be violating that policy at all. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Ishdarian|lolwut 09:55, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, you're right, the policy does sound that way. However, I note that an admin has just blocked that user from editing his/her talk page because of the edits we're discussing. I wonder if the admin would have some insight into this. --Auntof6 (talk) 01:37, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Celso Ortiz

Hi. I see you've merged Celso Ortiz and Celso Ortíz. Thanks for taking the time to do it. However, "Ortíz" is ortographically incorrect, it should've been merged in "Celso Ortiz" (no accent mark in the "i"). I'm not quite sure what should be done to avoid messing up the history, should I request a move or un-merge and re-merge? Thanks for your answer. Regards. Fache (talk) 23:21, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Sorry about that! I noticed that the accent was used in the text, so I thought that was correct. I think requesting a move at Wikipedia:Requested moves would be the best way to handle it. --Auntof6 (talk) 01:28, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Re: Moody Kids

Not sure, but it looks like it they might acted intentionally with malice by trying to sneak in false information under the guise of "constructive editing" (as opposed to generic vandalism). In everything I have read, I have never seen evidence of a 5th child. And while its true that each kid received $10 million it was only after a very lengthy court battle. However, the size of the estate at his death was around $400 million (not 200 million)...plus the money wasn't "donated" to the foundation, rather Mr. Moody's will stipulated the transfer of the bulk of the stocks/money to the foundation upon his death... Anyhow I decided to ASG and not leave the IP a warning...but if it happens again... well.. :-) --nsaum75¡שיחת! 23:06, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

2010 Copiapó mining accident

Hi, you just edited the copy of 2010 Copiapó mining accident in my sandbox for testing a new timeline feature. Your corrections to the text won't be seen in the actual article since the copy in my sandbox will be deleted tomorrow. However, please feel free to comment on the timeline there near the table of contents as that is the only part that will be copied over to the actual live article. Sorry about that! I don't usually edit stuff in user space; that page must have come up in an error list somewhere, or maybe in a list of pages that link to something I was working on. Thanks for letting me know. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:34, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

It wasn't a problem at all. My only concern was that I just didn't want you to waste your time on a dummy test version. Have a great day. BTW, the quote you edited has been edited with various translations countless times so I've given up on paying much attention to it lately. I may look for an "official" translation from the Chilean government or the Santiago Times and keep it locked in with those words. Your comments on the live version of the article are certainly welcome as always. Veriss (talk) 20:12, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi Auntof6,

Thanks for your contributions to Timeline of the Turks (500-1300) and the Timeline of the Seljuk Sultanate of Rûm . But I had to improve your contribution to diasambiguate Laodicea. Because Laodicea is not Latakia. Laodicea (near Denizli) is in Turkey and Latakia is in Syria. The highway distance between the two is approximatelly 1,000 kilometres (620 mi). Happy editting.
