Avsim

edit

Hi Tom, was just about to email you :) Thanks for providing the background on your userpage. For maximum effect, what would be awesome would be if you could have a page on the Avsim site itself that lists some basic facts about the history, as that would allow me to source everything as a "primary source" (i.e. showing evidence that it indeed came directly from yourself at Avsim.com). Sourcing is very important, although that mainly only becomes an issue where something is controversial. Thankfully, much of the history you have provided is not controversial, and was one of the key issues I had wanted to expand on the article. The history section is also of significant encyclopedic value, given that Flight Simulation (and indeed Avsim) stretches back into the early days of BBS as you note.

I'm very keen to get as much of this information down as I can. It's so easy for the background and history of these websites to get lost in the mists of time, so I will be writing up the changes to the history section today. I think you've followed a great approach in choosing not to directly edit the article, although you certainly can it is generally not recommended. There's quite a few guidelines on it, but certainly if you see any vandalism or anything patently wrong do ensure it is removed immediately. Occasionally it happens to all articles, so it's no big deal. Icemotoboy (talk) 21:17, 23 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ice, we now have an AVSIM History online. It is a work in progress, so please check it occasionally. You can find it at www.avsim.com/history [1]
