ClueBot reverted to vandalized version

Possibly ClueBot should be reverting edits, not (admin-style) reverting users. Consider this edit, where ClueBot reverts a user, which results in reverting to vandalized version (vandalized here) Demi T/C 15:41, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

ClueBot II and Asteroids

ClueBot II has created a number of asteroid articles such as 13830 ARLT. The bot neglected to add a * to the external link, so it was created like this but should really look like this. Is there any way for the bot to go back and add the *s? Kingturtle (talk) 22:15, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Make around 11,000 1-character edits? Doesn't seem worth it. It is definitely possible, but doesn't seem worth it. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 22:40, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
The edits will have to be made anyway. Better to have a bot do it than humans. Kingturtle (talk) 17:01, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Yes, definitely. And Cluebot VI is flagged, just so you know, Cobi. - Taxman Talk 03:23, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
I think, it probably should, part of the 'bot owner being responsible for mistakes made by the bot' thing. SQLQuery me! 03:28, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
I'll note, this is something we all missed at BRFA, so, it's not really Cobi's fault. Still, it's a problem, and, it needs done, as a result of the bot editing. Therefore, I would go ahead and do it. SQLQuery me! 03:34, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

User warning deleted by Cluebot

Hi. Just to tell you that in this edit, Cluebot gave a vandal a level 1 warning, but in doing so it deleted a level 4im warning that I had issued only seconds earlier to the same user. This is a repeat offender who, fresh out of a block, resumed his vandalism. --Blanchardb-MeMyEarsMyMouth-timed 20:15, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

"false positive" tool not working

I get a "connection refused" error when using the "false positive" tool.

By the way, what had happened is that I had blanked an article which seemed to contain text identical to something on a commercial website. It's entirely possible that my blanking of the article in question was itself a false positive, but when ClueBot reverts the blanking of suspected copyvio., it should at least leave the {{copyviocore}} tag intact. 69.140.152.55 (talk) 06:52, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

placeholders in articles

ClueBotII was used to create an asteroid article in which placeholders were included in the article: "discovered on [[ ]], [[]] by [[]] at [[]]". Placeholders should not exist in any Wikipedia article. How many other asteroid articles have these placeholders? And can ClueBot please remove these placeholders from these articles. Correctly IDed vandalism incorrectly listed as "FalsePositives"

Culprit (3RR vandal) listed themself as a false positive, when this is not the case. Cluebot was correct. When i do the edit of the article of Speakernight, i was right and is not vandalism. I watch that on a site. Thank you. What that is it "ClueBot III"? Its look like an name of an robot...

Query

I need help renaming about 200 articles. Doing this by hand would take me all day.

Can your bot rename articles, or be adapted to do so?

If so, please contact me.

Thank you.

ClueBot watch the Reference Desks?

We've been having increasing problems with vandalism at the Wikipedia:Reference desk and its subpages, to the point that some are arguing for semiprotection as our only recourse, despite the fact that we really like to cater to anonymous IP questioners (and contributors, for that matter).

Do you think it would it be a good idea, or a bad idea, to add the Reference Desks to the User:ClueBot/Optin list? —Steve Summit (talk) 00:09, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Please verify

Dear Sir, Few minutes ago. I changed some part of the article 'Samir' suspecting it as some bad editing. I need confirmation by someone more expert. Will you please see the edit history? Shoovrow (talk) 13:41, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Mistake

I attempted to delete the redirect Ted bundee because that is not a well-known alias for Ted Bundy. To do this, I believed that all I had to do was blank the page. I was warned for this, and I feel I do not deserve this warning. Please remove it. GSMR (talk) 22:16, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

You are aware that you are talking to a bot, report it to False Posivites and then remove the warning yourself. --217.42.41.254 (talk) 15:01, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

ClueBot III edit summaries

ClueBot III edit summaries always seem to be of the form "Archiving <number> discussions to User:ClueBot/FalsePositives/Reports/<date>. (BOT)" (I looked at the User:ClueBot/FalsePositives/Reports history), even when "<number>" is "1", which is grammatically incorrect. Brian Jason Drake 12:41, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

-100

What happens if the score if precisely -100? The userpage only mentions greater then or less then Nil Einne (talk) 21:52, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Hagger?

Think you could somehow write it into your code to revert this kind of vandalism? We're seeing it all the time, and the fact that it's the main article only means the visibility is worse. I dare say this would be as helpful in reverting vandalism as the rest of the day's work combined, if not more. The Evil Spartan (talk) 11:55, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Edit conflict?

I saw this: I reverted vandalism on the Al Sharpton article, and said the rollback was complete. I warned the user and then checked the history; it said that ClueBot reverted it. I don't know how this happened, but I warned the user. Must've been an edit conflict. -- SchfiftyThree 18:58, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, that is a source of several bug reports with ClueBot. ClueBot expects MediaWiki's rollback to always be correct, so when it sees that the rollback was completed successfully, it warns the user. Maybe we should file a bug report with MediaWiki? -- Cobi(t|c|b) 19:59, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
That's probably true. This also happened afterwards when I reverted 59,477 deleted characters on the Piracy article. As the result, ClueBot warned the user and I reverted the edit located on its page history (a flip-flop!). SchfiftyThree 20:56, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Why did ClueBot put this entry back at Wikipedia:Suspected copyright violations? Seems strange. Kevin (talk) 01:48, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Edit conflict. ClueBot II grabbed the current copy of the page, and while it was checking the redlinks, you posted your revision, and it then removed the redlinks from its version and posted that back, thus readding the stuff you removed. -- Cobi(t|c|b) 02:32, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Um. I didn't make the edit so I reported it, but it said that 'If you didn't make that edit, you do not need to report it.', so I'm confused. Anyway, apparently on my talk page, it claims that I have done many valdalizations. I didn't make any of those edits so could I (or an administrator) delete all records on my talk page? You can continue this conversation on my talk page if you wish. —Preceding comment was added at 03:00, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

If you register an account you'll avoid this problem - the IP address you're posting from (206.123.194.147) does not belong exclusively to you. You internet provider probably allocates it to various people depending on when they connect, so most of the things done from that address were, indeed, nothing to do with you. ~ mazca t | c 13:16, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Georges Dufrénoy

Hello, I would like to know if we can delete the redirection to create by Neelix concerning both following names: Dufrenoy and Dufrénoy (for Adélaïde Dufrénoy), indeed it prevents from using the search engine of Wikipedia for the persons wearing the same name. Thank you. Yonerfud (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 13:45, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Curious why ClueBot didn't revert the second blanking

Yesterday, ClueBot reverted for blanking iPod Shuffle [3] but didn't the second time. Why's that? TransUtopian (talk) 16:52, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

On ClueBot's user page it says the bot is 1RR compliant - it will not revert the same user on the same article more than once per day, except in certain specific situations. ~ mazca t | c 16:56, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
Where's the user page... oh, in the green box is ClueBot/Anti-vandalism. I see it now. I tried User:ClueBot Commons, which redirects back here. Thanks for the info. TransUtopian (talk) 17:16, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
