Images

Do i need permission from the website to use a image?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Pkwildy69 (talkcontribs)

Thanks for the note. Yeah, unfortunately, it's worse than that: the site has to actually release the image under a copyright license compatible with the GFDL, so pretty much anyone can use it (i.e., just allowing Wikipedia to use it isn't enough). You can request permission by following the directions at Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission#For images. Under very limited conditions, a picture may qualify as fair use, but you have to be pretty familiar with that policy to get that to work. Let me know how I can help with any of this! Peace, delldot talk 06:48, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Why did you revert back the article.. I just updated it with the new info. You may contact me at edisongotan@nbni.tv for more info.

Sorry.. Did some mistakes...

Hi Edison, thanks for the note! I'm pretty sure I didn't revert anything by you, at any rate nothing that I saw in the history of the article you mentioned. If I did, it was a mistake (which I make a fair number of!) so sorry about that. Let me know if you need any help or advice about Wikipedia! Vic Railways C Class

Thank you so much for what you've done!

I really aprechieate it, but there are some other things we need to do.

Firstly, I would like to add on my behalf half that I have edited the article slightly so that it makes more. It's more like a 'fill in the gaps' thing.

Secondly, If you look at the external links you will see that I have added a photo. Could you please put in on top of the specifications table so that it looks more like the other articles?

Thirdly, If you look at the other related articles you will see that there are tables explaining about each of the locomotives. I will try to have a go at it my self but if it is unsuccsesfull can you make one?

Finally, can you make other articles like G class, X class S class etc. because they need as much attention as the other ones. By the way can you permadently delete the M and W class articles because they dont exsist, though there is one that is missing the V class, can you add it to the list?

I strongly suggest to reply back to me ASAP to discuss this furthur.

See Ya!!!!!

WikiSandbox1 (talk) 23:56, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

By the way can you reply on the Replys/Responses section of my talk page if thats okay? thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by WikiSandbox1 (talkcontribs) 00:03, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Wow, WS, really excellent work. You've turned Victorian Railways C class (diesel) into a very respectable article. I'll work on the suggestions you made. My main recommendation for the article is that it should have references for every assertion, so you should be including the info of the sources from which you got the material.
The photo looks good, but I'm not sure Wikipedia will be allowed to use it; do you know who owns the copyright? If you do, you can Upload it to commons if you agree to release it under the GFDL so pretty much anyone can use it for more or less anything. If you don't own the copyright, you'll have to get permission from whoever does, which I can help with if you like.
About the templates, I've made an empty one at User:Delldot/Box of sand. You can fill in the values yourself (feel free to edit my sandbox), or you can tell me what you want them to be and I can add them.
I don't know anything about the subjects, so I'd be uncomfortable creating the articles myself. But I'm glad to help you fix them up when you make them! :)
What list were you asking me to add the V class to? And from what do I delete the M and W class?
Thanks for all your hard work WS, I'm really impressed. Peace, delldot talk 06:26, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Reply on Victorian Railways

Gee, Im suprised! Thanks for the reply!

When I saw the article, I made some slight modifications to it using my own knoledge, I then saved it, only to find some else do that! It dosent matter who edits it, as long as it makes sense, which is most important. and What do you mean by references? I can remember where some of the info came from. I dont know if thats handy or not.

When you metioned something about the template, I was confused because when you edit them, its hard to find where everything is, so now that I found it, I what your talking about. By the way, someone has already put something similar to that, only half done!

Just to ask, how to do keep administrators quiet, by that I mean, why do they bother you about speedy deletion, and how do you become one?

Dont worry about the V class, M class and W class thing because Ive got that under control already, though there are some problems with creation articles.

With the photo(s), I dont know what your talking about, so Im partly relying on you do something. But dont worry because I will put the photo under this reply with the website underneath it so that you know all the sources of the photo. By the way, how come theres a chance it wont be used?

Is my new nickname WS, if so, just state why. is it because its easier for you rather than WikiSandbox1!

If so, reply again. Its good to keep in touch! Also how come it took you so long to answer my reply!

I appreicheate it, and I hope you dont mind but I will use that template for all articles, also I have started on 2 other ones, H and S, and they have been fixed up propaly by other users and finally, theres some other user that wants to join in as well and his user is --Dan027 (talk) Im going to reply to him as well

Thank you, your Amazing!!!!!! Plus look at all the info i left at the bottom.

WikiSandbox1 (talk) 05:34, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi WikiSandbox1,
  • Your references question: references are reliable sources that you get your information from. All information on wikipedia must be already published in sources, and you have to be able to cite these sources if any of your info is challenged. You should write where you got each piece of information from as a reference, I can help you with this. Info that's not already published is considered original research and is not allowed in articles. It is handy that you remember where you got the info, you can write that in the article (or tell me, and I'll help).
  • Administrators: The way to keep us quiet is to understand the rules for inclusion of articles, for example, read WP:CSD#Articles so you'll understand what not to do with your article. If your article doesn't meet those criteria, it shouldn't be "speedied" (deleted without discussion). In general, if someone bothers you about something, ask them for an explanation, and try to fix whatever it is they're concerned about. You did a great job with that in my case!
  • How to become an administrator: You request adminship at RFA and the members of the community discuss whether you are trusted enough to become an admin. You really can't pass an RfA until after you've spent enough time (say, 6 months to a year) and made a significant number of contributions to the project (say, 3,000+ edits). This is because administrators are very trusted members of the community, so people won't support you becoming one until you've demonstrated a very solid understanding of the project and its policies and made a significant contribution. But you're doing great, carry on like this for a while and you can become one if you decide you want to!
  • Photos: Did you take the picture yourself, or did someone else take it? Wikipedia can only use photos if they're released under a certain license, the GFDL, or a license compatible with it. If you took it, you own the copyright and can release it under the GFDL. If someone else took it, they own the copyright and we can't use it unless they release it under the GFDL, which it can be difficult to do. Since the picture is already on a website, we'd have to get that site to write something saying it releases the picture under the GFDL, which might be a pain.
  • I was just calling you WS for short (heh, too lazy to type the whole thing out). I'll call you WikiSandbox1 if you like.
  • Sure, you can use the table for the other articles. If I change my sandbox and it's not still there, just look in the page history for the revision where it's there (presumably the one with yesterday's date).
  • Sorry to take so long to reply, I get distracted easily :)
Hope this answers your questions, let me know if you have more! Peace, delldot talk 08:12, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Daniel

If you look a tthe top of the page on the Daniel article, you will see the disambig message
This article is about the Biblical figure called Daniel. For other uses, see Daniel (disambiguation).

Hey again, thanks for the note, and good job finding the references on Slant Magazine! I'm impressed by your hard work to improve the article. But keep working on it, it still needs more. Another thing is that I'd look for references that actually feature the magazine (i.e. the whole article or piece is about the magazine, or it discusses it in detail) rather than just mentioning it. Remember, you must be able to back up each claim in the article with reliable sources, those sentences that aren't backed up can be removed at any time. Anyway, great work so far. Keep in touch! Definitely let me know if you need help with anything. Peace, delldot talk 06:04, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

paul wall

Paul wall was a great man with grillz. Isn't that factual evidence that he has grillz in his mouth. And also the second statement I made about being white, well wasn't that true too? So why are you thinking im vandalising. You have no rights of proving both statements of mine were wrong thus not being allowed to call it vanadalism. Furthermore, you are wrong and I am right. Thanks, Karim Ahmed

Perhaps he did have grillz, and they could have been beautiful and able to steam up a thousand chickz on them, but that evidence needs to be cited by reliable secondary sources in order for it to be included in the encyclopedia— particularly on articles about living people; otherwise, they will be removed and repeated additions of them will be treated as graffiti (or, as we term it here, "vandalism"). Peace out, yo. --slakrtalk / 01:39, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

"No Wikipedia. Because anybody can go in and edit it." "Wikipedia isn't accurate." At school, I've been constantly frustrated with the way many people look at Wikipedia. I'm sure that a wiki can thrive even through anybody can edit it, right? Maybe it would be a good idea for schools to teach students how to be good Wikipedians? Editing User pages-thanks!

Set up a user page.

How do we properly use Wikipedia? Want to set up a user page with info and photo of a person. What is the proper way to do so? We just received two nasty vandalism warnings which was uncalled for. People should provide info instead of calling a simple mistake vandalism. Obviously there is a difference between the two.

Any assistance would help.

User info boxes

Hey, how's it going? I've been meaning to ask you about something. On many user profile pages I've noticed lots of interesting user info boxes, and I was wondering where people get those and if there might be some sort of a big collection of those for users to pick and choose from. A newbie

Hey Gscshoyru, I have a small concern. You know I admire your antivandal work and appreciate all you do. But I noticed something and I thought I'd let you know about it because I appreciate when people come to me with stuff. You reverted this and left a level three warning - I think it was a newbie mistake, and it hurt the new user's feelings that you reacted sternly. Maybe next time leave them a personal note explaining where to leave messages? You probably just saw that they were blanking the user's page and didn't notice the content of the message, totally understandable for vandal fighting, so definitely no big deal. But I thought I'd bring it up, since they brought it up to me. Thanks again for your hard work! Peace, delldot talk 22:30, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

how can I start a new article, so the name would not be delete again? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.232.214.223 (talk) 16:01, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the note! The first thing that you should know is that a person has to be notable in order to have an article in Wikipedia; they need to meet the criteria at WP:BIO. If we're talking about Antoine Zammit, I did a quick Google search on him and I don't think I see enough material on him to make an article. See, every article has to have reliable sources that are independent of the subject in order to back up every statement made in the article; this is our very fundamental verifiability policy. So if not enough has been written about the subject, we can't have an article on him. If you are Mr. Zammit, please also see WP:AUTO for an explanation of why you shouldn't write an article on yourself.

However, maybe I'm mistaken about who you want to write the article on. If you feel that your subject meets WP:N and you have sufficient reliable sources, you should definitely create the article! You'll need to create an account, since page creation is currently turned off for anonymous editors. Then I recommend working on the article first in your userspace, i.e. any page beginning with your username and a slash (an example of a page in my own userspace would be user:delldot/note). That way you can get others to look at and help you before you move it to the main article space (pages with no prefix). Please let me know if you want any help or further explanation of this! Peace, Delldot on a public computer (talk) 03:06, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Ghanaian Cedi

Sir/Madam -

I recently made some edits to the Page on the Ghanaian Cedi, but saw a note that you said I was vandalizing it. I just made some more edits to the page, and would like to talk to you about them if you disagree. I am not trying to vandalize the page, but merely to bring perspective to it. I lived in Ghana for several years, and have some knowledge of what I write about.

To be honest, I have just started my editing career on Wikipedia, and am not sure how all the protocols work. The edits I made to the Ghanaian Cedi page were my first. I thought I would start there, and see what happens to my edits before I try other pages.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Hi Tobking, thanks much for the note! I'm glad you've joined Wikipedia and are contributing to the project! I don't think I reverted you or left a vandal warning for you. Someone from the IP address 169.244.92.162 changed 'new cedi' to 'gay fag', and I reverted them and left a vandal warning for them. But I'm sure that wasn't you, your own contributions have been valuable. Your edits are currently the last ones to have been made to that page. Maybe you saw my note to the vandal and thought it was to you?
About your question, definitely let me know if you need any help, I'm glad to offer it. My biggest recommendations would be to always cite your sources from which you get the information you add, especially when adding things like numbers or quotes (using the Cite.php referencing style can be a little tricky at first, I can help if you like). Another really fundamental thing is our policy that all material should be written in a neutral tone, but I saw no problems with that in your edits.
Thanks again for helping out with the project, I'm really glad you've decided to share your knowledge! Sorry for the confusion with the vandal warning thing, but like I said, I'm pretty sure I never reverted or left a message for you. Definitely let me know if you need any help with anything, I'll be more than happy to offer it. Peace, Delldot on a public computer (talk) 02:42, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Reply on Victorian Railways

Hello Deldot, its me (you could guess)!

Thank you for the reply. Yes it does answer my questions but I need to clarify some things regarding articles.

  • Notification

I am going to start on the Victorian Railways P class, to get that out of the way. Also did you manage to talk to Dan027? if not, well i was just wondering.

  • References

Most of the information I gather is from my own knownledge or from a site (which is most of the time Vicsig) explaining and simplifying the info out so it makes more sense. Though even Wikipedia can give info as well. I can remember quite clearly the websites and photos but I'll need to do it. Fast. Possibly after I finish writing this reply. I will read the process (if there is one) and make a start.

  • Template

dont worry about explaining. its fine

  • Annoying Admisitrators

Yes, well I have goten used to it anyway. They mentioned something about writing 'Hangon' and a reason why it shouldnt be SD. (speedy deleted) Though they post a note on your Talk Page about this nonsense (its a waste of space). I wanted to clarify that. Also, I noticed that sometimes Administrators add this picture and some text saying 'Hello, this is a message from a automated bot'. Can I ask you what is, what it does, how you stop it and when you writing replys, how to paste in in?

  • Becoming an Admisitrator

Who are the members of the community? And it seemes like thats a lot of time and editing to become one. I dont know if I have that much time to spare. They would trust you alot, no joking around or they will probably kick you out of the commity. Apparantly, as an Admisitrator you have the power to block other users from editing Wikipedia. What sort of things would you need to do and how do I do that?

  • Photos

What a pity it is that you have to have to ask someone to use it. There fantastic photos, no doubt about it but I probably dont have the time to do it. If you dont that sucks, though if you do thats great. Im trying my best not to ask for alot.

  • Nickname

Good that you told me why, if thats so, go ahead with it

  • Using Templates

Other users have already made some form of start to it. Its kind of not finished, I will do it though.

Its okay people have stuff going on and they just dont have time, like me! (sorry i didnt reply quicker)

I hope you had a wonderful New Year, and make the best start to 2008

Hey again, thanks for responding and for being so reasonable. I don't think that the link you provided is enough to establish his notability, are there other sources? That is, has he been written about in news sources, books, or journals? If we can't write an article with every claim backed up by reliable sources, we can't have the article. If you'd like me to create the article, please provide me with links to articles or other material written on him. Thanks much! Peace, delldot talk 16:02, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

silet scream

I apologize if you regard what I've been doing is vandalism. This is the first time I knew I could recieve messages from other editors. I assure you I was not trying to disregard your warnings, this is simply the first time I knew I had been given them. There seems to be a double standard at work on this article. Vandalism is also removing content designed to improve an article without sufficient cause. Please allow me to explain. This article originally presented only planned parenthood's opinion that the movie was bogus. It was not neutral so long as it did not present the Pro-life, and the scientific position as well as planned parenthood's. There were no references to check on Planned parenthood's opinion and confirm it as a scientific one. Most Wikipedia articles have references so you can go to the original sources and check the facts for yourself. The only references for this movie that are given is a single book written from planned parenthood's perspective. In so doing, this article was about as neutral as a classroom history text on the civil war written by a Southern plantation slave owner. Pro life opinions were added to present the other side of the debate and then were removed by someone else-several times, which is also vandalism. Priests for life presents the other side of the story, but priests for life has been subsequently described as "attacking Planned parenthood." in further edits of this article Planned parenthood is never described as "attacking pro-life." It's almost as if someone has arbitrarily decided to censor anything negative said about planned parenthood-as if they are beyond reproach and every word they say is gospel. If references are given to prove that the claims being made about planned parenthood's business practices are true, or if references are added confirming the scientific validity of the movie under discussion, they are taken out as "lacking neutrality." This is sloppy scholarship, and it is not an honest report of the facts. It is an an attempt to control how people think about an issue by slanting the issue so that only one side of the argument is ever heard. This article will only be truly neutral when the truth is allowed to be told along with the counterarguments that other side of the debate wishes us to be aware of. To only tell the truth planned parenthood wants us to hear, and not the scientists, medical doctors, or the film makers, is to slant it with a very dishonest kind of bias commonly known in the communist world as propaganda. Again, I apologize, I did not mean to cause trouble, and yet the lack of objectivity in the dissemination of information on a controversial topic like this, may make some question Wikipedia's integrity as a valid source of truthful information --Dave M.D —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.3.38.158 (talk) 17:03, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

silent scream

You said I should only add well substantiated facts from neutral sources, and yet two observations can be made: planned parenthood is no more neutral than priests for life, and I did reference my comments to other sources on the web, and they were removed-no one discussed it with me as you say I should do if I disagree with something I read on your site. They arbitrarily took it upon themselves to remove it without entering into that discussion that you say I should enter into if I disagree. Why are they allowed to edit without discussing it and not me? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Elrondaragorn (talkcontribs) 17:36, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

problem

I have no way of retrieving previously removed content of "Silent scream" in order to begin a discussion asking why it was removed. Without a reference point, they can just deny they did it-and I don't even know who did it, but it's happened several times and the supposedly non-neutral material is no more biased than the planned parenthood opinion currently left in the article. The non-neutral planned parenthood content seems to be allowed, though my non neutral content isn't, and yet mine brings balance to the non-neutrality of planned parenthood's opinion, while removing it is a clear attempt to slant the article in favor of planned parenthood's bias. Furthermore, I've reviewed other articles on other subjects like "Richard Hoagland", where the author of the article has a clear bias against Mr. Hoagland's opinions that are clearly allowed. My non-neutrality was no worse than his in trying to give evidence of planned parenthood's deceptive and biased practices, and yet because it hurts planned parenthood, and not Mr. Hoagland, it doesn't seem to be allowed no matter what sources I cite to prove my case. The author of the Hoagland article cites sources and is allowed to keep his imput, however. Also, planned parenthood's evaluation of the movie silent scream isn't a neutral one. It is also not properly cited for verification as fact, but no one seems to care about moving that from the article-only my comments, that give the article more balance in the provision of facts from sources that contradict the opinions already expressed. Am I obligated to enter a discussion with people any time I make an edit to any article? I don't understand how this works-I've edited other things before, and to my knowledge, I've never been reverted before, so are there only certain circumstances in which you must open a discussion to change something? I would really like you to investigate what happened with the edits on this article, because frankly, the critics of what I tried to post seem to have a bias against anyone who questions planned parenthood-regardless of whether they cite sources to prove the claims they are making. I've noticed no Hoagland fans have been allowed to get away with this regarding material unfavorable to his position. ----dave m.d. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Elrondaragorn (talkcontribs)

Hi, have you looked at the latest version of the article? I think the changes made may address some of your concerns. You can retrieve past versions of articles and differences between revisions by clicking on the "history" tab at the top of the article and finding dates of the changes in question (or just by looking at each one using the "last" links).
You're right that non-neutral info is not allowed. If you think the article is not neutral, you'll have to discuss it with other users until you can find a compromise. Honestly, the article in its current state looks pretty neutral to me; it's merely stating facts. It's acceptable to report that so-and-so notable party argued such-and-such, as long as you have a reliable source. Your info should not be removed without discussion if it is reliably sourced (note that an advocacy website is not a reliable source; go for a news piece about the advocacy group's argument). If someone has done that, you should address it with them, either on the article's talk page or the user's, and go through dispute resolution if necessary. Peace, delldot talk 07:28, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

with all due respect

With all due respect, the article is not reporting facts. I know for a fact that what planned parenthood says about its scientific research on the article isn't true, and I have not been allowed to post or cite that proof. This is not a neutral presentation of the facts where both sides are heard. -Dave M.D —Preceding unsigned comment added by Elrondaragorn (talkcontribs)

It doesn't matter what an individual editor knows, it matters what's been reported in reliable sources. The reason I called that a fact is that it's a fact that Planned Parenthood published such a rebuttal. A reliable source says that planned parenthood says that, so that's includable information. As I've said, all you need to do is find a reliable source that covers the information you want to add, and you can add it (assuming it's relevant and conforms with other policies, etc). Peace, delldot talk 07:55, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

help

what would you regard as a reliable source. Priests for life is reliable-they don't lie or distort facts, and they use scientifically verified data, but if someone on this site doesn't accept anything as reliable unless it is from a pro-choice point of view, then those reliable sources can't be quoted. Also, where is this talk page you are talking about and how do I begin a discussion? ----elrondaragorn —Preceding unsigned comment added by Elrondaragorn (talkcontribs) 11:21, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi Elrondaragorn, thanks for your hard work to understand the policies. Please read the reliable sources policy guideline and let me know if you still have any questions. Advocacy groups on either side of the debate do not count as reliable sources; it must be a neutral published source. Peace, delldot talk 19:23, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Help?

Hello.

I was wondering if you'd have the time and the will to help me with something. I understand if you can't.

Serb propaganda is as article that was started about a month ago and has been fairly controversial within the Wiki community of ex-Yugoslavs. Its stated goal was to

"describe efforts made by Serbian leadership to create fear and hatred and particularly incite the Serb population against the other ethnicities (Bosniaks, Croats, Albanians and other non-Serbs) and to describe Serb media efforts in justifying, revising or denying mass war crimes committed by Serb forces during the Yugoslav wars on Bosniaks and other non-Serbs".

From the beginning it was seen as POV and it was nominated for deletion but the result was to keep since no concensus to delete was reached. Myself being Serbian, I agree that an article like this is needed and the subject matter, however controversial, is more than appropriate given the amount of Wiki material about the Yugoslav wars. But I do have an issue with what's been happening since the decision to keep the article and I'm not sure quite how to handle it.

It is my feeling that a few of the major contributors are using the decision to keep the article as a carte blanche and the article has turned into a coatrack and heavy POV pushing from the Bosnian editors' side. There are 2 main examples of how this is being done:

1. Insertion of bold and accusatory POV pushing statements not sourced in any way such as:
  • Once the armed conflict had broken out, on some occasions the media openly incited people to kill non-Serbs.
  • After so many years of domination and with no competition, Serbian Television has been outstandingly successful in its mission to create a pliant population.
  • After his visit some of Serb media portrayed him [Bill Clinton] as the Al Qaida supporter.
  • Following such activities Serb propaganda tried to deny the genocide and to present victims as the terrorists or foreign Islamic fighters.
  • During the Yugoslav wars, Serbian TV propaganda described NATO forces which intervened against Serb forces attacking non-Serb civilians as the Nazi troops invading Serb lands. President Bill Clinton was portrayed as Adolf Hitler.
2. Copy and pasting of large portions of text from other articles related to the events. These texts describe the wrongdoings of Serbian armed forces in the conflict but do not explain anything about what role the Serb propaganda played in the events. Examples of copied text without context specific to the article:

2 of the major contributors of this article, namely The Dragon of Bosnia (talk · contribs) and Bosniak (talk · contribs) have become very aggressive towards editors with different views and editors that have altered their contributions, going so far to use the article's talk page to make following statements:

  • People should really use ICTY documents to stop serbian apologists and their nazi propaganda.
  • You might read more about what Serbian Fascist and Christian Terrorists are doing in the Balkans
  • But constant apologies from supporters of Serbian fascism, as well as ridicolous nominations of this wonderful article to be deleted are coming from extremists themselves. It is very disturbing to watch people portraying themselves to be objective, and yet stading in defence of Serbian fascists.
  • Islamophobia is trully a mental disorder, not an opinion

I am of an educated opinion that someone writing statements like these is wanting to present an opinion more so than they are trying to write an objective article. Bosniak (talk · contribs) has a long history of personal attacks, incivility and edit warring that have garnered him 7 blocks so far and I am seeing a continuation of the same trend here.

Getting to the point, I would like your opinion on what to do here. The one thing that I will not do is to start editing, deleting and reverting information I see as non-encyclopedic and POV because I do not want to get into an edit or revert war. There is already somewhat of a revert war happening with the POV tags and such being inserted and removed. I am not sure about nominating it for deletion because the article is fully salvageable and could turn out to be a pretty informative one if cleaned up properly. Protecting or semi-protecting it will do more harm than good, in my opinion. Please let me know, if you have the will and the time, what I could do to stop the very rapid degradation of this article into an edit war or a heavy POV piece of text.

Thank you for even reading this.

I am fairly new to using Wikipedia and I recently got in an argument with a co-worker. He said that anyone can edit wikipedia and that it is not monitored. I cannot believe that. Your sock

Just kind of wondering, Delldot, do you ever think you may be worrying a bit too much about someone hacking into your admin account? Has that ever happened before?

Speaking of administrating, do you ever think maybe some admins could be a bit nicer to users? I'm not referring to you, of course! See, I'm a frequenter to an online message board, and sometimes I think that a certain mod there could say things a bit more nicely. I wonder how to deal with situations like this.

I hope your Christmas was enjoyable!

Happy editing,--Padawan Animator (talk) 15:17, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm probably being way paranoid, especially since my work computer isn't even really that public. But it would suck to have the admin account hacked, so a little paranoia is in order. Mine's never been hacked, but a few other admins have had theirs hacked, and it was a pain dealing with the resultant mess (though I think in most of those cases weak passwords were to blame, not keyloggers).
Yeah, people are already supposed to be nice, including admins. There's WP:CIV and WP:BITE for example. I guess the best way to deal with it is to discuss it with them privately at first, and just let them know as gently as possible that it bothers you. They may not realize they're coming off as hostile, since it's so easy to misread the emotion behind people's posts. I guess if it's out of hand and that doesn't help, you'd need to get another, neutral person involved, or if it was really bad go through WP:DR. Peace, delldot talk 15:36, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

I had a problem listing this category as a link so you'll have to copy-and-paste your way to the category.

This category was created in October of 2007 specifically to list Toše Proeski who is still the only person listed in that category. Hi Delldot:

I noticed some of your edits and thought you might be able to help with the above referenced page.

I have attempted to pare their list of notable alumni down to those who have achieved something notable and worthy of recognition in Wikipedia.

Each time I have made changes to the page the same person has restored all of their hand picked selections most of which in my estimation are not notable as compared with other school's pages.

Could you take a look at it and see which alumni are notable and which aren't?

Format

Sometimes I wonder, why is all the text on Wikipedia all flush left as opposed to justified, along with block format paragraphs as opposed to indented paragraphs? I finally remembered to ask about this after I noticed my English instructor took five points off an otherwise perfectly good score on my paper because of my habit of writing in block format paragraphs, a personal preference inspired by the opening crawl in the Star Wars films. Block format paragraphs seem to feel much more comfortable for me to look at with my mind's eye, so I often wonder, how did this idea of indentations become so standardized, so very much pounded into our heads? Where did things like this all start?

Anyways, I have told Kurdt before that I think he comes off as a good personal attacker as well as a good mod, but I kept inadverdently forgetting to get to explain exactly what I was talking about, so I might as well explain what I was trying to tell him. I'm positive he already thinks that I'm an incredibly retarded li'l douche of a youngling, but it's not like he'll kill me or anything. I do admit that I think I would feel more comfortable with myself if I were to keep a much lower profile than usual over at I.A., so I think I'll just be a bit less of a frequenter, that I'll stop looking for things to say over there. Communicating with my art friends via blogs seem to be much more pleasant, so I guess I'll just blog around much more often. Which reminds me. I need to suggest a userbox for things like, "This user maintains an art blog." Happy editing,--Padawan Animator (talk) 00:08, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

adolf eichmann

hello again delldot. 1)at [1] can you please respond and see whats the problem with users Wily and Richard Arthur Norton (1958- )??animate is right,an admin has to stop their 3rr's!!! 2)do you agree with the change of photo info by Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) at[2](that new rationale in my opinion is just pathetic, obviously the u.s didn't get that while eichmann was a nazi, that's actually seized nazi property, i forgot to add that in the description) 3)about rudy gulaini's comment, you're absolutely right that this was uncalled for.but i didn't bother to say anything since no one is going to believe the classic excuse of "someone else did it not me".i'll definitely change my password.thanks for the suggestion.regardless,im sorry it happenned, hope that you and all editors accept my apologies.please respond to my inquiries when you can.thank youGrandia01 (talk) 00:54, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
