Need your help
Hi, Can you please help me improve this article, currently im new to wiki and just studying how write articles here. Can you comment the things to be done on the articles for improvement. How many external links are allowed on wiki. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.94.207.158 (talk) 10:34, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks!
Hi, I appreciate your note on my talk page. I've been a Wikieditor for years. Not having an account is intentional: if my arguments and positions stand on their own or not should not be influenced by having an account or not. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't.
If you have a chance, please review some of my most recent posts to other users' talk pages and the Collect fiasco and let me know if you think anything I've said is out of line. Thanks again for your offer of help...I may take you up on it! 207.237.33.36 (talk) 04:35, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- Unfortunately I tend to steer clear of RFCs, ANI and the like, especially ones of the size of the Collect RfC and associated pages. I actually rarely even take part in AfDs. This does mean that I don't always keep abreast of current events but on the plus side it means that I can carry out 10,000+ mostly-minor edits without attracting too much drama (indeed, I'd imagine I'm one of the least-known editors with over 10,000 edits), much like an IP address (especially a dynamic IP address) would. Given this, I do have an empathy for IP editors, and agree with you entirely that people sometimes look down upon IP editors, or devalue their opinions.
- I am reminded of my time in 2008 where I spent a month or so in the United States, and didn't want to log into my account due to using mostly-public computers. Most of the IPs I used were dynamic, and I often found myself occasionally reverted when making edits that would have been accepted quite readily had I been logged in. I was lucky enough to not be reverted as a vandal, however. :)
- But yes. If you do ever need any account-only assistance as I offered on your talk page, feel free to ask me here. I'm nowhere as active as I once was however, so it might take a while for me to respond sometimes. Dreaded Walrus t c 06:19, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Hi Dreaded!
I'm having some problems with a particularly vicious editor on my talk page...he's cursing and vandalizing and 3rr-ing left and right, and I can't seem to get his to behave civilly. Please see the comments by Daedalus969 on my talk page for an example. Any advice on where to go or what to do would be appreciated. 207.237.33.36 (talk) 01:04, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- Hi 207. I haven't looked too deeply into the issue (you've made quite a lot of contributions lately), but Daedalus seems to be quite an established editor, and, not counting the recent "leave me the fuck alone", he has received a Barnstar in the past for niceness (as have I). So, without wanting to take sides (or having looked into the issue enough to have the knowledge to take a side, there are two main options here. The first is by far the most simple, and that is simply to stay out of each others' ways. There are millions of articles and pages on Wikipedia. If you avoid editing the same pages then it will help massively. The second option is having a look at the dispute resolution process. I'd recommend having a look through that if avoiding the other editor is not an option. In general, I tend not to take sides in discussions I'm uninvolved in (this kind of threads back in with my other point about not taking part in ANI, RFC and the like), but I'm sure if you look at dispute resolution it should help with how to proceed. :) Dreaded Walrus t c 01:57, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Re: Socks
Actually, I was referring to his blatant socking.— Dædαlus Contribs 07:56, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks for pointing that out. As I have said in the threads above, I hadn't been following the user's actions, as I tend to keep out of most drama. I responded in the original thread, to keep discussion all in one place. Dreaded Walrus t c 08:01, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- Alright, thanks, and I do believe I'm off to bed.— Dædαlus Contribs 08:03, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- Alright guy. I must admit I'm a little disappointed after I put faith in him to act mature in the sections above. Hopefully when he comes back from the block a month from he'll have cooled down a little and follow the advice in the section directly above this one and just stay away from you if at all possible. - Aaand, I doubt it. A shame that he had to be an idiot. Glad you've got a year's break from him, to be honest. Dreaded Walrus t c 21:32, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
- Or maybe not, check out the new sockpuppet report.— Dædαlus Contribs 21:37, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

- Ugh... If I wasn't such a believer in transparency, I would have removed all of my correspondence with this user, to be honest. Gives IP editors a bad name. Dreaded Walrus t c 21:44, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
