License tagging for Image:Ksl.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Ksl.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

License tagging for Image:Oldrochester.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Oldrochester.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:10, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:XeroxLogo.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:XeroxLogo.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:11, 13 January 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jusjih (talk) 01:11, 13 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate images uploaded

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Atlanta 051.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Atlanta 051.JPG. The copy called Image:Atlanta 051.JPG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Orphaned non-free media (Image:XeroxLogo.gif)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:XeroxLogo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 10:53, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Thesingingmachinecompany

edit

A tag has been placed on Thesingingmachinecompany, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Newest Rochester skyline

edit

Hi, sorry if this is a month late, but I just noticed you retook the Rochester skyline pic and incorporated some of input given in the past. It looks great, except one thing: what was up with the river that day: it looks way muddier than I ever remembered it. I checked the USGS site, and the was a huge spike in velocity and temperature dropped dramatically [1] Was there a huge rainfall in western NY in previous days? ccwaters (talk) 14:13, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

It looks like the Ganges (Image:Kolkata_Bagbazar_Ghat.jpg). Its a great pic otherwise, I just don't think the river conditions were normal the day you took it. I'll leave it alone, but don't get upset if someone else changes it. ccwaters (talk) 17:54, 19 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your revisions to Concorde

edit

It appears to me that you misunderstand why I revised your addition to the article on Concorde. Please note that while I said that I didn't think it was notable enough to merit inclusion, I didn't DELETE your revision; I left it in the article but cleaned up your writing for the reasons noted below. Other editors have agreed that your addition wasn't notable enough (indeed, I recall that the 1999 European Ryder Cup team also flew to Boston on Concorde, and that fact alone removes the notability of the 1995 trip), but in the event you edit this article in the future I wanted to call your attention to the reasons why I revised your material. You need to understand that if you contribute to Wikipedia, you cannot expect sloppy writing and miscapitalization to be left alone.

Your revision said this:

"In 1995, British Airways landed a Concorde at the Greater Rochester International Airport while transporting the 1995 Ryder Cup team during their Participation at the 1995 Ryder Cup at Oak Hill Country Club. The team left on the Concorde and carried their Ryder Cup trophy back on the Concorde. The Concorde also had a chartered flight to the Greater Rochester International Airport in 1986."

The problems with this material are as follows:

First, it is incorrect to say "the Concorde." The convention is "Concorde," as is noted in the article itself. The use of a limiting article may be correct when referring to a particular Concorde (for example, when I visit the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum in New York, where Concorde G-BOAD is parked, it's entirely proper for me to say "this is the Concorde on which I flew," but if I were simply referring to supersonic travel, the proper wording would be "I flew on Concorde"). I suspect that you are from the Rochester area and that you're used to hearing "the Concorde" in the American media. I am also from the United States, so I'm not one of these "British English" Nazis who seem to plague Wikipedia, but in this case because it's an Anglo-French aircraft, it's proper to use the British convention.

Second, your wording "1995 Ryder Cup team" is inadequate because there are TWO teams competing in every Ryder Cup, so you have to identify which team was involved (in this case, the European side).

Third, the word "participation" should not be capitalized. It's not a proper noun.

Fourth, the sentence after the one with the word "participation" is poorly-worded because it's irrelevant, for purposes of this article, which side won the Ryder Cup: The point of your edit, as it relates to this article, is that the 1995 European Ryder Cup team flew on Concorde. That's why I combined the first two sentence to read as follows: "In 1995, British Airways landed a Concorde at the Greater Rochester International Airport while transporting the 1995 European Ryder Cup team to and from the 1995 Ryder Cup at Oak Hill Country Club." It says EXACTLY the same thing as your revision, only in a more concise fashion that respects the conventions of this article and uses proper grammar and capitalization.

Finally, this article is not, does not purport to be, and indeed cannot be a comprehensive listing of all Concorde destinations. Such would be irrelevant to the article and would overwhelm it. If you want to see such a list, please visit ConcordeSST.com (although the listing for North America is cut off at Regina for some reason).

In the future, please pay heed to the admonition at the bottom of the editing page for any Wikipedia article that states "If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed for profit by others, do not submit it."

Proposed deletion of File:Atlanta midtown night.jpg

edit

The file File:Atlanta midtown night.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Overexposed/edited file. Better alternative available locally.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 13:11, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
