TParis

edit

G'day Kudpung. TParis has you listed as an editor from whom he will accept a nudge that he might not be acting as an admin in the right way. I have been involved with him in a conflict for the past couple of weeks that he is prosecuting way too personally. The latest incident is particularly disappointing as it was essentially an attempt by him to restart the conflict after it had fallen into a lull (diff), and an attempt by two other editors on either side of the divide to approach a resolution (see Wikipedia_talk:Requests_for_comment/Epeefleche#Discussion_redirect until TParis' attempt to close down the discussion, which was shortly followed by the diff above).

At the moment, I'd like to ask that you talk with TParis about the above diff, which was a clear attempt to restart the drama machine and probably WP:BAITING, and ask for him to back off. If he does not, then I'll leave it to your consideration as to whether this is now grounds for recall, but, personally, I have a high expectations of behaviour for admins, and, on top of everything else, WP:BAITING is a clear breach of that.

In terms of TParis' criteria:

  1. I have previously discussed the issue with him at his talkpage at User_talk:TParis/Archive_9#Follow-up and User_talk:TParis/Archive_9#Your_actions.2Fcomments_at_RFC.2FU.
  2. The issues at hand have been extensively discussed at ANI, where TParis proposed a onesided interaction ban, which I view essentially as an attempt to silence me.
  3. There has been time to cool down since the issue started, but TParis can not let go.
  4. In terms of actions as an administrator, TParis closed my initial complaint against ANI with poor wording, that has been discussed at User_talk:TParis/Archive_9#Follow-up, where I repeatedly reject what I read as a suggestion that I follow Epeefleche around and fix his problems. I have since had to keep repeatedly saying that I'm not interesting in doing that at, for example, Wikipedia_talk:Requests_for_comment/Epeefleche#TParis.27_concerns_regarding_.22wikistalking.22. The Wikipedia:ANI#Formal_interaction_ban_proposal made by TParis at ANI was also made from an administrative perspective.
  5. The key policy issue here is WP:CIVIL.

As I said, I'm leaving any decisions about whether TParis' behaviour is not what is expected of an admin in your hands. However, I would ask that you suggest that he consider stopping.

I am also posting this message to the other admins on TParis' recall list. Also, I am scaling back my involvement with wikipedia, so I might not see replies very quickly. If you have something you want me to respond to, I'd like to ask that you e-mail me at "daniel.judd@gmail.com". Cheers. ˜danjel [ talk | contribs ] 14:46, 2 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Starship9000

edit

Hi. I'm wondering if you've been keeping an eye on this editor. He appears to be doing a bunch of stuff that fall outside of the informal "ban" you placed on him, including tagging articles for deletion, hunting for sockpuppets, and making edit with his IP address of a nature that at least one editor called them "vandalism". I think that this is just a kid, but it's taking continual advice from numerous editors just to try to keep him on the straight and narrow. If you haven't been keeping up with him, it might be worth a look. (I'm not looking for a block, just another nudge.) Beyond My Ken (talk) 21:21, 3 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

I did not nominate any pages for deletion. --Starship9000 (talk) 22:08, 3 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Than what are these about on your IP page? [2] Beyond My Ken (talk) 23:15, 3 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
My IP Address keeps tagging article for creation pages for deletion. Remember how I told you that I will not use my IP Address? --Starship9000 (talk) 13:56, 4 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
An "IP address" can't do anything by itself. Are you saying that you didn't do that, that your IP is used by other people as well? And you said you wouldn't use the IP after those pages were tagged. Beyond My Ken (talk) 20:12, 4 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
I did not do that BMK! --Starship9000 (talk) 01:10, 5 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
See my comments on Starship's talk page. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 01:54, 5 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Hi: I noticed that the two related pages tagged for deletion by the IP were both drafts created by Starship himself. That may be a relevant fact, so I thought I should point it out in case it had been overlooked. Yngvadottir (talk) 06:24, 6 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi, friend

I have written a proposed remedy to the Richard Arthur Norton affair, to be taken to AN/I in the event that ArbCom defers the case. Since the original thread is hatted, the proposal has been made on his talk page (User_talk:Richard_Arthur_Norton_(1958-_)). As you were a participant in the original thread, I would very much appreciate your comments as to whether the proposed remedy satisfies your concerns. Thanks, —Tim /// Carrite (talk) 23:26, 4 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

I've seen the discussion on his talk page. If you give me a link to the original thread or my comment there that you refer to, I will take a look at it. I'm sorry, but I just don't have time at the moment to hunt around for it. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:27, 5 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

IP block

edit

Hey Kudpung, I just saw the block at User talk:74.131.177.233. Starship, however, is still editing, presumably because (bear with me--I'm a luddite) you didn't check the "Prevent logged-n users..." box. Did you do that on purpose so that no IP "accidents" could happen? I'm beginning to think that Starship should just be blocked indefinitely... Drmies (talk) 17:28, 7 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

I dont want to be blocked indefinitely so should I do adopt me instead? --Starship9000 (talk) 22:56, 7 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Grindstone Elementary

edit

Per the AfD, it was decided to "merge" the information into Berea City School District. I'm not very experienced with these procedures, but it doesn't appear that the orphaned content in the former article was ever merged, and the new redirect points to Berea, Ohio instead of the school district. I can do the work and fix this, but I wanted to check with you first to see if this was intentional. Thanks! --GoneIn60 (talk) 17:49, 7 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

You are welcome to 'merge' and change the redirect to whichever _target article you feel is most appropriate. For US schools this is usually to the school district article, otherwise we redirect to the education section of the article about the school's locality. When we say 'merge' for such non notable schools, all that is generally required is a mention on a list, because they have nothing specifically notable to report. School redirects must include the {{R from school}} template. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 11:04, 8 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please discuss the adoption programme details with the editor who offered to adopt you. Good luck with your adoption, and let me know how you get on. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 10:58, 8 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

empty article

The empty article, 2013 Women's Qualification Tournament, should be nominated for speedy deletion. Thanks! --Starship9000 (talk) 00:51, 9 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) Starship, the article was blanked by its creator if you check the history, so perhaps the author would like it to be deleted; it would be under G7 for author request, and possibly other criteria if it suits the initial version. 2 articles needing to be proposed for deletion

edit

Hello! There is 2 more article needing to be proposed for deletion. First one is Cih Ji Palace and the concern you should write down is:

Unintilligable and Unsourced

And the last article Roller Skater (roller coaster) should be proposed for deletion as well and the concern about it is:

Non-notable junior roller coaster. Non-notable Kentucky Kingdom roller coaster.

Do you think you can propose these 2 articles for deletion with the concerns (as above) because I do not think they are notable enough? Thank you! --Starship9000 (talk) 19:56, 10 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please stop now patrolling pages and telling other users how to tag them - your PPROD reasons are wrong anyway. Please simply concentrate on expanding or improving articles and get organsised very soon with the user who offered to adopt you. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 20:06, 10 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Starship9000 Adoption

edit
Collapsing comment moved to User talk:Starship9000

I am willing to take on User:Starship9000 on as an adoptee under the following terms:

  • During the course of the adoption, without my express permission, Starship is not to do any of the following:
    • New page patrolling
    • Article creation
    • Category creation
    • Participating in the deletion process
    • Propose any article for GA or FA
    • Add or remove any tags
    • Use any form of automation (e.g., Twinkle)
  • During the course of adoption, the only pages Starship9000 is to edit are:
    • his talk page
    • my talk page
    • Kudpung's talk page
    • the adoption page
    • the adoption talk page
    • SkyScreamer – but not to propose it for GA status
    • any other changes to articles, but only in article space
  • Starship9000 will receive a barnstar after he successfully completes the first test and the final exam.
  • Starship must receive an 80% or higher on all tests in order to advance to the next lesson.
    • All grades will be determined using the subjective opinion of User:Go Phightins! using the following criteria:
      • A 5/5 demonstrates a thorough knowledge and understanding of the topic in question beyond a reiteration of the definition and provides a specific "real-wiki" example.
        • For the question "What is vandalism?", a 5/5 would look something like this: "Vandalism is any bad-faith edit intended to harm the encyclopedia. For example, changing Chris Christie's weight to 5,000 pounds is vandalism."
      • A 4/5 demonstrates a general knowledge of the topic and may include material directly copied from a policy/guideline/essay or not include an example.
        • For the aforementioned question, a 4/5 would look something like this: "Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia. An example would be crude humor."
      • A 3/5 is a simple reiteration of policy, or a partially correct response.
        • "Vandalism is anything that harms Wikipedia"
      • A 2/5 is an answer that is wrong in multiple respects.
      • A 1/5 is an answer that would equate to an Ad Hominem attack were this a DR discussion. In other words, "This question is stupid"
    • If the adoptee disagrees with a grade, he is to first explain why to his mentor. Go Phightins! will then review the answer and explain his reasoning. If Starship9000 still disagrees, he may contact any other user on the List of Adopters or any administrator with whom he's previously interacted on his talk page to review the answer.
    • Should Starship9000 not complete a test with a passing grade, he is to review the material in the lesson, and let Go Phightins! know if he has any questions prior to requesting a new test, which Go Phightins! will generate.
  • During the course of adoption, Starship9000 agrees to log in prior to editing.
  • Should Starship9000 decide to leave adoption at any point, he should contact a new adopter prior to resuming normal editing.
  • Should Starship9000 resume editing without notifying his adopter and abandon adoption without seeking to enroll in a new course, Kudpung (or any other administrator) will use his discretion in determining an appropriate course of action.

  • Starship9000, please review my proposed terms and, if you agree to them, please notify me on my talk page. If you would like to propose modifications, please do so on this page.
  • Kudpung (and any other interested users), should you have any suggestions or if you feel these terms are unreasonable, please either change them or let me know. I would like Kudpung and/or another administrator to "sign off" prior to the adoption commencing.

Eulimostraca indomatta MadmanBot indication.

edit

Hello there Kudpung,

About a month ago, I created a gastropod article titled Apicalia, once I had published this article a bot under that name of MadmanBot, marked my article with a template stating that the article was directly copied from the World Register of Marine Species, this however, was a mistake and you simply took care of the problem in a flash. I have just now, created an article titled Eulimostraca indomatta and the same bot has once again, marked the article with a tag regarding it being directly duplicated from WoRMS. This is once again false, I was just wondering, is there any possible way I can prevent this from happening again in the future? The way I publish my gastropod articles in is pretty much the same for each and every documentation. Thank you and by the way, enjoy Valentines Day while it lasts this year! Happy editing! The whimsical enigmatic Solo Toady! 09:07, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Fixed. Admin Swarm has given your account autopatrolled rights but this won't apparently stop the bot. The false positive returned by the bot is due to the very long Latin names that cross the threshold for the number of characters that constitute a copying from another web source. This bot checks every new page against all sites on the Internet (or AFAIK, at least the ones indexed by Google). I suggest you remove these bot notices yourself, leaving Rm COPYVIO template - madman bot false positive as the edit summary, and if there is any comeback, refer to this discussion. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 21:44, 14 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
I see, I actually would of thought that having autopatroller rights would have prevented this from happening to being with. Simply removing the notice is satisfactory, but I am prepared in case I may require taking the removal into discussion on the talk page of that particular article. Cheers! The whimsical enigmatic Solo Toady! 22:00, 14 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

I saw your prod for Lung float test, which you thought was based on a student's paper. The corresponding author for the then-linked paper is the head of medicolegal affairs for emergency services at the University of Cologne, which is not a student position. So since you're a clueful person, and since I'm trying to help someone at Meta with systems for identifying desirable sources, can you give me an idea of what you were thinking (assuming it wasn't just a mistake/a reason intended for a different page)?

Alternatively, if you've got any ideas about common mistakes, I'd be happy to hear them. WhatamIdoing (talk) 16:06, 17 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Bring back an article

edit

Hi. I just wanted to let you know that I have removed your redirect that caused Shuqun Primary School to redirect to Jurong. Although Shuqun Primary School might be located in Jurong, the article 'Jurong' does not mention this school. I have realised why you wanted to put the redirect because the article did not fit in Wikipedia. That was when my edits were to unorganized. Here a version a lot better that before. I hope it is not too bad for deletion. Do leave a feedback. Thanks! Hz.tiang (talk) 13:25, 27 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi, unfortunately Shuqun, like most primary schools, does not demonstrate sufficient importance to justify a stand-alone article in Wikipedia; it fails to meet our criteria for notability at WP:GNG, and in particular, WP:ORG for organisations which also inludes schools.I realise that you had put some extra work into it but to avoid it being deleted completely, I have redirected it again to Jurong where it is now mentioned. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:18, 1 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
