Clarification, please

edit

Ok, so when a NPP determines a newly submitted article is promotional and needs a complete rework, then tags it with a Speedy which is quickly removed by the article creator, at which time the NPP AfDs it but there's limited discussion after a couple of relists, and the closer determines it to be KEEP, despite comments admiting that it needs a complete rework because it's written to be promotional...then the closer deletes all the promo mtl leaving a few sentences in what appears to be a dictionary entry, what then? Portugal Golden Visa should be a blurb in the main Portugal article not a standalone, but what do I know? Is there a way such articles can be nipped in the bud before they leave draft space and so much time & energy is wasted? Sorry for my confusion and thank you in advance. Still had this talk page in my watchlist from an earlier discussion and I'd just like to throw in my two cents. To nip such an article in the bud would be to ignore Wikipedia policy. As stated repeatedly in the discussion, the subject meets the general notability guideline, thus meriting an individual article. The article, as it stands, is clearly not promotional and does not even take a particularly positive stance on the topic. I think all articles deserve "due process" from new page patrollers such as yourself. R. A. Simmons Talk 01:01, 6 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Which explains this edit, right? I disagree with your perspective based on my understanding of Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. Perhaps Kudping will provide a reason I'm more inclined to understand. Atsme📞📧 01:46, 6 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

This girl seriously doesn't know when to give up. She has turned into some serial block evader. Yet another IP User talk:108.16.135.184, but same edit style, same "slightly-aggressive" tone, and same articles she has edited for years - including BLP's for which she has topic ban. What Next?

What should I do next as a New Page Patrol coordinator? Robert McClenon (talk) 04:38, 8 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

See my ping to you a few minutes ago, fellow Rob.   That's the next incremental step, in my opinion. ~ Rob13Talk 04:51, 8 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Robert McClenon and BU Rob13: IMO, the first thing to do is use the newsletter template and announce the results of the election, and also mention once again, quite strongly, that 340 hat collectors haven't made a dent in the backlog. Hat collectors is the right word because if they had all done only 41 reviews each, the backlog would have already been down to zero. Many of the patrolls have not been of a higher quality than they were before we introduced the new user group. This also rflects the communiy's desire to continue to allow the process to be done by very young, very new, and very inexperienced users for whom all maintenance tasks are a magnet. I'm good at crafting compelling RfC statements and I'll help if I can, but I won't be putting my name to anything anymore. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:02, 8 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Robert McClenon: & Kudpung - NPPs review, some reviews get shot down by article creators, PROD or AfD despite legitimate reasons provided by NPP, such as the article being promotional, OR, unsourced, poorly written, etc. and much of the garbage remains. It's discouraging. The process needs more bite. As it stands now, reviewers are either tripping over themselves duplicating some of the work already been done (may just be a case of crossing wires), or their reviews are being ignored. I agree that some of the newbie NPPs are lacking so why not up the ante on requirements? It's not like we'll be losing anything in the process. Atsme📞📧 12:52, 8 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
THe reviewer user group was created with two objectives: To knuckle down and do some quality New Page Patrolling, but also, as the final gatekeepers, rectify the extremely poor patrolling being done by the very young, very new, and very inexperienced users for whom all maintenance tasks are a magnet, but whom the community in its wisdom insisted they should still have their playground. I've heard that in the future, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection is to be staffed by 4th graders. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 13:06, 8 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
[FBDB] I guess it doesn't break any child labor laws if it's volunteer work. Another thought, Kuds...our interpretation of young & energetic could be based on the fact we're getting so old, we moved the bar for middle age. As for future predictions, I heard that the 4th graders you mentioned will all be from Mexico, and that President Nieto plans to barter their labor as payment for the wall.   Atsme📞📧 15:46, 8 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Contesting to the deletion of The Dorothy Day Center

edit

Hello Kudpung,

I am sending you this message on behalf of February 25th, when you made the note to delete my newly created page for The Dorothy Day Center. I have read over the lists that are included on your talk page regarding how to go about contesting to a page when it has been put up for deletion. I have no relationship with The Dorothy Day Center. I created this page simply because I believe there should be a Wikipedia page on the organization, and noticed there was not one. I have multiple sources regarding the Dorothy Day Center and why it is important to the city of Saint Paul, Minnesota. Listed below are notable and reliable sources to help build the page. As well as showing how important the page of The Dorothy Day Center is.

Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).“In May 2015, under increasing pressure from donors, county health officials and volunteers, Catholic Charities announced that the aging and inadequately-sized Dorothy Day Center would be replaced by a new five-story shelter, at a cost of $100 million. Holding 278 free and pay-for-stay bunks, as well as 193 small apartments on the upper floors, it would be built on the space which was previously occupied by the Dorothy Day Center since 1981. Named Higher Ground of St. Paul (so as not to cause confusion with the already-existing Higher Ground of Minneapolis facility erected in 2014), it opened to the public 12 January 2017. Upon its unveiling, Catholic Charities director Tim Marx expressed “[We hope to] become a model for the St. Paul region, demonstrating not only how to deal with homelessness, but also how to solve it.”’

Also relating to the topic of the center, Dorothy Day (who the center was named after) has her own Wikipedia page. She is an important character in social activism and catholic church committees. She headed the Catholic Worker movement. This would be an important page because of how large of an impact Dorothy Day made herself. I would like for you to reconsider the deletion of the page, and let me rebuild it based on the organization. Like I said before, I have no relationship to the organization and have gathered all of my resources on reliable and outside sources, such as newspapers, articles, and history museums. Thank you. Hi Tilfordabigail, I understand your concerns, but at this stage you should be discussing the issue with the deleting admin, which is the normal procedure. I would help if I could, but as stated at the top of this page, I am not available for complex voluntary service at this time. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 15:27, 21 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

French translation

edit

I just completed my translation of Musée Saint-Raymond and wonder if you would proofread it as I see you listed as a French-English translator. My primary concern is the sense of the three quotes, whose text is linked in the notes section. Besides that and a general grammatical review, it could use some more sources and I have added some links on the talk page. Ping me if you have any questions. Thanks in advance. ww2censor (talk) 11:19, 26 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Ww2censor I'm sorry but at the moment I'm unable to do more than simple, urgent admin tasks. Perhaps when I come off my Wikileave (see above) I'll look into it. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 23:44, 28 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
No problem, maybe you can give it a once over when you get back. Thanks ww2censor (talk) 09:35, 29 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Partial Vandalism at Hsu Nai-lin‎

edit

Hi Kudpung, Can you check the above article. There is somebody vandalizing it, by putting in a whole bunch of fan cruft. I've reverted it twice already but he is now ignoring me. The account name is: User talk:Sheep GWHY scope_creep (talk) 20:57, 28 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Scope creep: I have closed the AfD and reverted the article to your last stable version and warned the editor. There would be insufficient reason to protect the article at this stage and in any case the editor is confirmed. If he continues to insert trivia, let me know and I'll block. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 23:42, 28 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Kudpung, I don't think it needs protection. 10:41, 29 March 2017 (UTC)

Moral Politics (Livre)

edit

Hello,

You've deleted my Moral Politics (Livre) page because it is already existing. But I have as homework to translate this page from English into French so I did it and you deleted it. Do I need to change something maybe??

Thank you,

Have a nice evening,

Mia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Miabrooks06 (talkcontribs) 12:29, 30 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Miabrooks06 The page was deleted because:
  1. It duplicates an existing article Moral Politics (book)
  2. It was in French. This is the English Wikipedia and articles are not accepted in other languages. If you wish to experiment please go to: the French Wikipedia or do your translation off-Wiki using a word processor (traitement de texte) on your computer.
