Re: Sarin

edit

Hey, thanks for creating an account. It has several advantages, including making it easier to communicate and keep track of articles. I don't know anything about sarin as I just reverted an edit to that article. But it says it's mechanism of action is similar to that of some insecticides, which led me to check the aerosol article, which probably has the answer to your question (i.e. it's a liquid, but its droplets are so small that it can be spread in air). You could also ask questions like this at the article's talk page or the reference desk, but please sign your messages with four tildes ("~~~~"). Graham87 08:17, 30 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

questions

edit

How did you know I was asking? Do you (real life) talk with Graham87, or is there a way of Wiki talking that doesn’t appear on Talk Pages?

Technically there is a watchlist - that answers that. The assumptions from your questions assuming something other than having a large watchlist are not really relevant here at all.

I’ve decided (after reading some MH370 survey stuff) that there’s probably a ±500m error margin (for both sites), but I’m still reading. I expect there are plenty of people who know, prob some at UWA: I expect someone cluey will fix it someday. (Even though the numbers cited are >50 years old!)

Whether corrections are made a lot depends upon the interests of editors...

How do I get my user page to display the pages I’ve edited? I want to check something and I can’t remember where it was (and it was only 3 or 4 days ago)!

Try very hard as a new user to read through abut how to grow a larger watchlist - go into your preferences, go into your dashboard - explore the options. As a new user you might have to wait for a number of edits to get a full view of things, but patience is always something that helps. Still confused - ask more questions. But always best prepared if you search all your options in preferences first. JarrahTree 00:09, 19 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Wars of the Roses

edit

Thanks for your note: To answer your second question, the edit note was added here, at the top of the Name and Symbols section, and (it would seem) is still there.
For your first question, an edit note is a piece of text that appears in the edit window, but not in the article itself, and is placed (usually) to convey some message to future editors (in this case to notify people of a previous discussion and its ongoing ramification) when they come to edit. I thought there would be a help page somewhere that explains them, but I couldn't find it, so that's all I can say, really; I can't remember where I first came across the function.
As to the rest, I'm afraid I don't know where the phrase 'Wars of the Roses' comes from, beyond what is already in the article and the discussion. Regards, Moonraker12 (talk) 20:42, 8 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Orphan Wiki. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —specifically this edit to History of male circumcision— because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help Desk or my talk page. Thank you.   Please refrain from making test edits to Wikipedia pages, such as the one you made with this edit to Talk:Yo-yo, even if you intend to fix them later. Your edits have been reverted. If you would like to experiment again, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Orphan Wiki 13:23, 12 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Orphan Wiki: heads up, neither of those two edits were vandalism/tests, and your second edit actually removed a talk page message the user posted since you used rollback. I'm going to go ahead and restore the message. This user is pretty new, and wasn't aware they could restore edits that were obviously mistakenly reverted, which is why I'm doing it for them. cymru.lass (talkcontribs) 17:16, 10 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. I am glad to see that you are discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Talk:Barack Obama are for discussion related to improving the article in specific ways based on reliable sources and the project policies and guidelines, not for general discussion about the topic or unrelated topics, or statements based on your thoughts or feelings. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages.   Hello, I noticed that you may have recently made edits to The Sound of Music (film) while logged out. Wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow the use of both an account and an IP address by the same person in the same setting and doing so may result in your account being blocked from editing. Additionally, making edits while logged out reveals your IP address, which may allow others to determine your location and identity. If this was not your intention, please remember to log in when editing. Thank you. —Aranya (talk | contribs) 03:06, 29 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Origins of pasta. Italy or China?

edit

Hello extremely!

Let me make some points on why pasta is definitely Italian.

  1. AFAIK, most of the "pasta" is supposed to be an umbrella term for every kind of pastry Italians have invented. Rigatoni, vermicelli, macaroni (aka "horns"), penne, and, of course, spaghetti. The same goes to fetuccini, conchiglie etc.
  2. In Russia, "pasta"-class noodles are defined as "macaroni-like products". All while lahman/lagman and udon would be labelled as "lapsha".
  3. Look, I know "catsup" sauce is used a lot in the Occidental world, but tomatoes were popular in Europe ... well, ever since they were discovered. That would be a separate point on how using ketchup "makes pasta too Chinese to be real pasta"

Cheers, friend. 81.89.66.133 (talk) 06:48, 16 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

However, as a general rule, while user talk pages permit a small degree of generalisation, other talk pages such as Talk:Mass in special relativity are strictly for discussing improvements to their associated main pages, and many of them have special instructions on the top.
