Vandalism? you are just changing things to how you want them to appear

how so?

edit

I posted what is fact and you are changing it in an attempt to bend opinions. That is vandalism

yes previous was me, but he has admitted he is gay and I was linking that to being more liberal as all polls have shown, and he has admitted he is liberal and democrat.

Star Wars date userbox

edit

I thought you might be interested that I made a Star Wars date userbox (on my userspace), using the new m:ParserFunctions. It displays the equivalent Star Wars date based on Earth's date:

Today is 12 Welona 2024.

How do you like it? I'm thinking of changing the image + colors of the background. -Xol 23:26, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

That is the awesomeness. Can I make it so that the person inserting the box can specify the color? I'll do it by putting in {} and stuff. MoppEr Speak! 23:28, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sure, of course :). Do whatever you like with it. -Xol 23:31, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Today is 12 Welona 2024.

Here's a prototype. I made it in your place; if you don't like it, feel free to revert. MoppEr Speak! 23:31, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Looks great. I might add some default colors and use User:Xolatron/userbox because that won't mess with the {} parameters from Userbox itself. -Xol 23:35, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your vandalism box

edit

Why do you have the formatting of the box in your vandalsm space. Why not just make a template that people can vandalise and include it into the box. An example can be found at User:Master of Puppets/User/Sigbox/Temp. If you click the "vandalise" link, it will go to a seperate page which can be found at User:Master of Puppets/User/Sigbox/Temp/Sigs. Then, that page will go into the vandalism box as a template. --GeorgeMoneyTalk  Contribs 05:25, 6 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey; I signed your sig/vandalism box. Like my new sig?... Well, it isn't really so much the sig that's new, but... If you'd like, I can give you the code to make it subst out rather than change each day - because that's not very uesful for a time stamp. I also decided to add the last part, just so no one asks me to change/remove the whole thing. – Xol 19:46, 5 Telona 2006 (6 May)

Just put in your sig template. --GeorgeMoneyTalk  Contribs 20:28, 6 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

quick question if you have time

edit

Thought I might pick your brain for a minute. What is the Wiki-protocol when dealing with an editor likethis guy? He has been flying under my "vandal radar" for a little while. His edits aren't really vandalism but he's done enough to garner a few warnings and wrist slaps. He's what I would call a "serial wiki-linker".(also into changing image sizes and removing tags) The wiki-linking is very random...usually selecting oddball words that don't require linking at all. The _target articles seem to repeat(if he can get away with it without getting nabbed) Just wondering what the deal is when it comes to this kind of, albeit, subtle editing quirk. Take Care! Anger22 01:13, 7 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the quick response. Like I said...under the radar. The only reason it caught my attention tonight was when he linked a word near the end of an article even though the same word was used no less than 10 times prior to the word he chose to link. Your level of assume good faith is much higher than mine. To me it certainly doesn't stink...but it does have a bit of an odour all the same. I don't hound or hawk anyone. It's innocent enough to ignore. Take Care and thanks again! Anger22 01:56, 7 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

A shiny new barnstar!

The Barnstar of Diligence
This is a special shared barnstar between ILovePlankton, JoanneB, Mopper & Where. This barnstar is awarded for helping me out over the past few days with wording things more politely and civilly when I'm prone to just typing what I'm thinking (which isn't always the best thing - that internal censor thing needs new batteries). Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #3

edit
The Administrator Coaching program is a program aimed at preparing Wikipedians for Adminship or helping them understand the intricacies of Wikipedia better. Recently, changes have been made to the requirements of coachees. Please review them before requesting this service.
This would be something like the Welcoming Committee, but for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. Some might like suggestions about how to learn vandal patrol, or mentoring on taking an article to featured status, or guidance with a proposal they plan to make at the Village Pump, for example. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.
The Stressbusters are a subset of Esperanza aiming to investigate the causes of stress. New eyes on the situation are always welcome!
Note from the editor
As always, MiszaBot handled this delivery. Thank you! Also, congratulations go to Pschemp, Titoxd and Freakofnurture for being elected in the last elections! An Esperanzial May to all of the readership!
 1. Posting logs of the Esperanza IRC channel are explicitly banned anywhere. Violation of this rule results in deletion and a ban from the channel.
 2. A disclaimer is going to be added to the Esperanza main page. We are humans and, as such, are imperfect.
 3. Various revisions have been made to the Code of Conduct. Please see them, as the proposal is ready to be ratified by the community and enacted. All members will members to have to re-confirm their membership after accepting the Code of Conduct.
 4. Referendums are to be held on whether terms of AC members should be lengthened and whether we should abolish votes full stop.
 5. Admin Coaching reform is agreed upon.

Thanks for voting in my RfA!

edit

Thanks for the vote in my RfA! I don't actually need the admin tools; I'm okay with requesting admins to get the information I need, and asking them to perform tasks which come up with my other responsibilities in the Wikimedia Foundation. It would certainly be easier - and less wasteful of volunteers - if I could do things myself, however. The needs are unrelated to Wikinews, but are related to the Communications Committee. I really appreciated your comments in the RfA, though, and I'm glad you voted. The nomination did not gain consensus, but I'm glad I accepted it. - Amgine 17:21, 10 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

A few questions...

edit

Hi, MoP. It's me, Evan. I have a few questions for you.

 1. When adding external links to a page, would it be a bad idea to add the same link more than once (like in the antimony pentafluoride article)? If so, how should I fix it?
 2. Would it be a bad idea to "steal" code from other userpages and add them to mine?

Thanks!

--Evan Robidoux 00:24, 11 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

(Sorry Mopper for answering a question directed to you <some random smiley>). For the link question, look at WP:EL, and yes, you can steal peoples' code, but usually you should put <!-- Stolen From User:Example User --> at the top of the page --GeorgeMoney T·C 00:36, 11 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism to userpage

edit

MoP said: Thanks for reverting my userpage! Strangely enough, I'm seeing a lot of these fake block message things popping up nowadays; hopefully the vandals aren't starting to coordinate attacks O_O

No worries. Have you noticed how horrible these attacks are? Saying, click to leave a new message, and yet piping to a blockip function. Nasty. I'll keep checking for more, they appear to be coming from three or so different IPs. Someone more experienced in blocking than myself will likely know better what to do in terms of the multiple IPs. How do you have that same reverting edit summary every time? Do you just copy & paste into edit summaries? Because if you do that, then it would take a long time to to put Vandal (talk). And, if it takes that long, then someone will have reverted it already. Community Justice Newsletter

edit

Community Justice Newsletter

Welcome
Previously, various notices regarding Community Justice have gone out to our members; though this is the first actual newsletter. This issue will contain information regarding decisions made on the first meeting, our new council, and more...!

If you wish to unsubscribe to future newsletters, please add your name to Wikipedia:Community Justice/Do Not Spam.

New Council
Following our first elections, a new council has been elected.Computerjoe and Ian13 remain as chairman and chief executive (respectively); while Eddieh, Wiki alf and Xchrisblackx are replaced as councillors by Ilyanep, Osbus and Covington. The Giant Puffin and Pureblade remain as councillors.
Member Conduct
In the last meeting, the conduct of 4 members was discussed. Ethnopunk will be put on probation, supervised by Ian13, if he/she is incivil during this probation, he/she will be expelled from WP:CJ; the same was decided for Misza13 (voluntarily), and his probation will be supervised by Computerjoe. No action will be taken against Computerjoe.
Barnstar
The Civility Barnstar which our members have designed has been sent to Barnstar and award proposals. We'd appreciate your feedback!

Also, we are planning to make a Community Justice barnstar to give to hard-working CJ members. If you're a budding designer, consider trying to make it, then post your proposal to WT:CJ!

Name and logo change
There has been no consensus reached regarding changing our name and/or logo neither at WT:CJ nor at WT:CJ/M/1. While suggestions are still welcome, no action will be taken at this time.
Programs
We are going to try to create programs to more actively involve our members. If you have any ideas, please drop a line at WT:CJ. We will try to work with WP:ESP on one of these programs, at some point in the future.
Thanks!
Thank you for your time. If you need anything, feel free to comment at WT:CJ or come into our IRC channel [1].

Computerjoe wishes to extend his thanks to User:Robchurch, a non-member who assisted in making tracker redundant, as well as Misza13 for his continued support and to the whole of this and the previous council.

My PotD

edit

Will you join My Picture of the Day? The reason I have it, is so images that aren't Featured quality can still be featured. Anybody can put a picture there. All you have to do is pick a day for your picture, and create a page in "User:GeorgeMoney/Month DayNumber, Year". Then, use the following format: Put on the page of the day you are creating (Remember for all of the optional variables that you don't use, totally remove them from the syntax). Then all you have to do is put on your userpage, and it will automatically make the picture for the day. If you want to have it show your picture forever, put . Replace "May 47, 2009" with the day your picture will be on. You already joined.

Also, can you add your name to My Spamlist? Don't worry, my spam isn't bad and annoying like the Esperanza and Community Justice spam. My spam is just news and events in plain text formatting like this.
