Malformed report at User:Xenobot/R#WP:GOOGLE
The above request for WikiProject tagging is incomplete. Please see User:Xenobot Mk V#Instructions and complete the report, otherwise it will be removed after 48 hours without action. Thanks, –xenotalk 15:19, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

- You still haven't given me a category list... The bot won't know what to tag. –xenotalk 03:41, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
- Done or Not sure. I added a category, does that work?--iBen (talk) 20:52, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
- Perhaps if you look at some of the other requests. You have to make a list of categories that contain articles that are within the scope of your project. –xenotalk 01:10, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and made an initial stab at it here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Google Inc./Categories. Please verify all articles in these categories will be within the scope of your project. –xenotalk 15:47, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Hey iBen,
I'm pushing for the Apple portal to become featured; feel free to pitch in. The Mac project has fallen into general disrepair (as you so noted by posting the semi-active template on the project page :) ) and it needs all the hands it can get. Airplaneman talk 01:54, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Good one :D. Just a note about vandal-fighting tools if you're interested: WP:IGLOO is a huggle-like tool that works on Google Chrome and Firefox on any OS, which is why I gravitated towards it. It's still sparse on features (in alpha phase) but if you don't use Windows, it's great for vandal fighting. I like it :). Airplaneman talk 00:44, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- Yep, I have it. My Mac works nicely with Google Chrome; I even wrote some extensions. Thanks, though.
- That's cool! What do your extensions do? BTW, I like your talkback templates. They're a nice change from the usual. Airplaneman talk 00:49, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- There's a chat client and a search engine customization one. There are more coming; I'm still working with the development. They are much easier to develop than Firefox though. About the tb, it's at User:iBen/TB and I have a script:
importScript('User:iBen/f.js');
--iBen (talk) 00:54, 3 March 2010 (UTC)- Cool! New name, I see :). Airplaneman talk 23:58, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Automatic username reporting
I get the feeling that since you reported a few not-so-obvious username violations that they may have been reported by a bot. I don't quite know what's going on. mechamind90 00:19, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
- Nope, just patrolling the log!--mono (talk) 00:20, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
- On the same topic, just FYI, there is no requirement for a username to be in English. The SUL functionality allows users from all WMF sites to have their username it any language. Thanks. 7 00:30, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
- You need to slow down with some of these reports, I've declined three in a row that were not well founded. You reported User:Fertilitytips as a trifecta offense of promotional, disruptive, and offensive. Why? There's no evidence of promotion, and why "fertility" is offensive and disruptive is frankly beyond me. You reported User:Microjosh as msleading apparently because it's similar to "Microsoft." That's quite a stretch, especially in light of the fact that we have an administrator User:Mike Rosoft. And you reported User:Yomama1122334455. I think that is fairly harmless and not worthy of any notice, but I'll admit I'm not easily offended. Instead of asking for a block at UAA it's a better idea in a case like this to simply discuss the matter with the user, either in your own words or using Template:uw-username. Try to keep in mind that blocking a new user, especially one with no edits at all, is not something we actually want to do, it's something that is done if they blatantly and seriously violate our policies, which was not the case with these reports. Your username
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, Mono, may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because Mono is an open-source software product and the use of the username may give the impression that you support or promote that product . If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. NYC Wikipedia Meetup Sunday, March 21
New York City Meetup
|
In the afternoon, we will hold a session dedicated to meta:Wikimedia New York City activities, review the recent Wikipedia Day NYC, plan for the next stages of projects like Wikipedia at the Library and Lights Camera Wiki, and hold salon-style group discussions on Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects, for example User:ScienceApologist will present on "climate change, alternative medicine, UFOs and Transcendental Meditation" (see the November meeting's minutes).
In the evening, we'll share dinner and chat at a local restaurant, and generally enjoy ourselves and kick back. And if the weather is good, we'll have a star party with the telescopes on the roof of Pupin Hall!
You can add or remove your name from the New York City Meetups invite list at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Invite list.
To keep up-to-date on local events, you can also join our mailing list.

Hello, I was curious as to why exactly was the article I posted for creation denied. The comment left was this; This suggestion doesn't sufficiently explain the importance or significance of the subject. See the speedy deletion criteria A7 and/or guidelines on music-related topics. Please provide more information on why this musical artist or musical recording is worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. Thank you.
Could you elaborate a little more? I've attempted to submit this article 4 times now, each time it was denied for notability. I eventually found enough references/sources to prove notability, and now apparently I failed to explain the importance/significance? I'm confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Musicfan0011 (talk) 08:23, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
- New articles must have a statement (or claim) of notability and be backed up with references. For example: "Lorem Ipsum's single was the top selling country single.[1] I'd be happy to help with any other questions.--mono 23:50, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
- In addition,if there is no significant coverage in reliable, third-party sources, it is not notable by Wikipedia standards, and its article has been deleted before as such.--mono 00:06, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the adoption Mono!
Here, the Adoptions Project is probably not as well developed as in the German Wikipedia. There you can select a mentor or whichever of you is simply the next take. After a short time have you been welcomed and mentors to formally break the novice :-)
To me the adoption of serious and important. I need help and I am getting this from you. I would like to hire me as a volunteer in the project and learn with others, communicate kindly and objectively. Can improve, like write articles, articles and understand the processes at Wikipedia better.

WikiCup 2010 March newsletter
We're half way through round two, and everything is running smoothly. Hunter Kahn (submissions) leads overall with 650 points this round, and heads pool B. TonyTheTiger (submissions) currently leads pool C, dubbed the "Group of Death", which has a only a single contestant yet to score this round (the fewest of any group), as well five contestants over 100 points (the most). With a month still to go, as well as 16 wildcard places, everything is still to play for. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.
Although unrelated to the WikiCup, April sees a Good Article Nominations backlog elimination drive, formulated as a friendly competition with small awards, as the Cup is. Several WikiCup contestants and judges have already signed up, but regular reviewers and those who hope to do more reviewing are more than welcome to join at the drive page. Regarding adoption
Hello Mono!
I registered here in wikipedia last 2008 hoping that I can add pages about our local and Asian information. To my dismay however, I found out that the wiki has its own language. I was turned off that time. I returned this 2010 because I realize this experience is worth learning for. I signed up for adoption and saw your offer! Please adopt me. :)

You put this article up for a PR Wikipedia:Peer review/Google/archive4, and it has now been put up for a GAN, but I was wondering whether you intend to do some work on the article in the near future based on those comments. I don't want to put the article on hold unless I can see evidence that something will happen. Jhbuk (talk) 11:48, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- I'll do some work here&there, but I'm kind of busy right now. Do you think it'll pass as it is?--mono 00:33, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think it's too far off, but it needs work, as was mentioned on the PR. Most of those points are fairly minor, but are still the sort of things I'd want sorting out before it's passed (dead links etc), although there are some more significant points that have been mentioned. I just don't really get the sense that it goes into enough detail about (at least the products of) one of the world's largest companies. Jhbuk (talk) 11:37, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi, sometimes it is necessary some time for giving chance to others to understand your point or to meet your ideas halfway. What about if all participants of this debate take a day or so to:
- Allow others to think about your points
- Think about why others have a different opinion and try to understand the essence of it
- Think how to make your point more clear and understandable
- Think how can be found a middle way
Heated up debates rarely have the resolution you expect and may carry instead to protected pages, incident notifications, requests for arbitration, blocks and other undesired consequences, Take Time to Think!
The 39 Clues Individual Character Articles
Are we really going to need individual character articles like Amy Cahill, or even a List of teams in The 39 Clues? It's not like the main article is so big that it needs to be split yet. Am I missing something? VernoWhitney (talk) 00:17, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- We are modeling the Percy Jackson articles because they have a cohesive system. In addition, Amy Cahill is a protagonist in the series.--mono 01:36, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I can understand it better if it's pre-planned for it to resemble the Percy Jackson articles. And I did know that Amy Cahill is a protagonist (I haven't read the books but I have at least read the articles), I just haven't worked with fiction topics before to really know what the notability threshold is for them. Thanks! VernoWhitney (talk) 01:53, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Where?--mono 02:27, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry; it was at my talk. Could we split the character list in The 39 Clues to include only major characters, with the others in a saparate list of characters? This would really help with the amount of plot detail in the main article. Also, when assessing, the article is usually automatically placed into a category (in this case, Category:39 Clues task force articles) when adding the project template to the talk page. The "39clues" parameter does not seem to do this yet. Airplaneman ✈ 03:06, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Amy Cahill
An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Amy Cahill. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Amy Cahill. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

UAA report
You recently reported User:LambertsGardens at UAA. While their name is certainly a violation, I notice you also left a note on their talk page about it. I really think you should pick one or the other, either discussion of the name or requesting that it be blocked. It seems kind of underhanded to engage in a discussion with a user while at the same time trying to get them blocked. I also noticed in your edit summary it mentioned it was automated edit. I wasn't aware there was a tool that would automatically make a UAA report, is a script or something? Beeblebrox (talk) 05:41, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

--mono 22:15, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks Mono- Just interested in the Dallas azalea history and Lambert's since they started it all. Trying to read all the rules and regs makes my head fuzzy! Guess I messed it all up with my username choice. So if I leave it to someone else to make a Lambert Landscape Company page through the Requested Articles page, is it considered a conflict of interest to add a quick line (source cited of course) to the Highland Park, Texas page about the azalea displays? Or to cite the company as working with Lambert Gardens to start the Dallas azalea fad? Or have I dug my grave and need to let things go? Thanks! LambertsGardens (talk) 15:47, 5 April 2010 (UTC)LambertGardens
LG, if you look at WP:CORPNAME, it says "Explicit use of a name or url of a company, group or product as a username is not permitted." It becomes a greater issue when you then use that username to create a page about said company. Maintaining a neutral point of view can be challenging. That's not to say you can't submit material to Lambert Gardens, but it must be neutral. avs5221 (talk) 21:21, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- Avs5221- thank you so much for your explanation. I have to admit I did not do my research well and didn't even realize there was a Lamberts Gardens when I started the Lambert Landscape Company article (slap on the hand for me!).. I hope to do a better job in the future. I guess what I am trying to ask is, am I now permanently 'flagged' for any--even if minor and very neutral--edits I might try to contribute if they are related to anything named Lamberts? Still trying to get the hang of this editing thing. Don't want to make edits only to be continually flagged for deleting! LambertsGardens 01:39, 6 April 2010 (UTC)LambertsGardens —Preceding unsigned comment added by LambertsGardens (talk • contribs)
That's different. The issue with a WP:CORPNAME is that it may represent a group of users, be used for promotion, and indicates a WP:SPA, which is an account used for only one purpose. Since you are not affiliated with Lambert (right?), any edits are fine as long as they are WP:CITEed and from a WP:NPOV. You can request a username change at WP:CHU and you should be good. Note: If you add uncited info or your writing take on a promotional, non-WP:NPOV tone, we've got an issue. If not, you'll be fine! One more thing: Please rememeber to sign your posts using ~~~~ (four tildes) which will add your username and the date.--mono 15:41, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

So, Twinkle and Friendly seem to work as gadgets, but when I try to use my scripts, none of them work. Any ideas? VerballyInsanet|c 21:18, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Templates sounds super-awesometacular. VerballyInsanet|c 00:41, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
- Templates are one of my fav things about Wikipedia! Seems like you know some stuff about them (the emoticons are templates) so look over the lesson, ask me any questions, make a quick template (it can be trivial), and take a look at the next template lesson.--mono 00:45, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
- I found the {t|{=)}} template from you using it. Also, do these userboxen count? I noticed you like templates. I've found some more from seeing how you use them. VerballyInsanet|c 00:49, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
- (edit conflict)Ish... However, you should include elements in your template like {{{1}}} and {{{#if}}} from both lessons. Basically, userboxen are really simple templates. However, parameters allow customization in many ways. Continue to the advanced template lesson after you complete the first one.--mono 00:53, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

lol. try incorporating elements from the second lesson, however, great job! I'll help you with the advanced part soon.--mono 00:40, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

- Gmail Mobile: Stub-class. I think it could be merged into Gmail without a problem. The sources are all from Google. It is mostly about the various features of it, which doesn't seem all that encyclopedic when that is all the article has in it. Could use a History section or a Technology section to explain a little more about the actually service itself rather than what it can do for you. On that note, I <3 Google. Redtube: Stub. Not much content. It doesn't say much that's specific to the particular website. Good sources, though. VerballyInsanet|c 20:40, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
