Notable films only?
Dear NM,
I'm going to move your comment from the project page to the project's talk page, and reply to it there. What I'll be saying: people don't agree on which are the notable films and which aren't and, any list invites additions. I have seen this over and over on WP. Readers who are otherwise hesitant to contribute to WP see a list, know that something is missing, and add it. So the lists would grow to full filmographies rapidly. Zora 19:31, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
To Do #9 - Ilaiyaraaja
Thank you for taking the time to read the To-Do list on the Ilaiyaraaja page and to give your comments regarding awards and honours. You are correct in saying that the website of the Directorate of Film Festivals (India)(http://www.mib.nic.in/dff/) which apparently organises the Indian National Awards do not have an archive or database of past and present winners of the various categories of the awards (or that the website is 'down' -- it has been down for at least a year since I looked it up). Information keyed into IMDB.com is done by the public. So the credibility of what is stated there is arguable. However, given that there are no other more credible sources, then perhaps we can make do with IMDB.com. Also, what I had in mind was finding sources which backup the statements made about Ilaiyaraaja getting this or that honorary doctorate or this or that Government award. I have not attempted to find sources for these (could be newspaper items or government reports etc.) I thank you once again for showing interest in this Wikipedia article. I appreciate your comments very much. I hope together we can make this a cool Feature Article :) AppleJuggler 14:30, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
Hello
I am Pokkiri
I heard you desire on the Varalaru discussion page.
So I have improved the article and rewritten the plot by myself.
Please check it out, it is exactly as the movie goes and is good for the neutral.
Hi. Do you have a source that says that Ilaiyaraaja composed the music for this film? I believe the film credits state that it is Devendran. Can you please confirm? Thanks. AppleJuggler 14:11, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

You're Invited!
Hi,
I saw your editions on the Pallava and Pandya pages also linking them to a Tamil page. Good job! Would you like to join our WikiProject Dravidian Civilizations group? It would be of benefit to have someone who is proficient in Tamil or any other Dravidian language/ script to translate Dravidian related articles into that particular language. If you are interested please go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Dravidian civilizations and put your name in the members section. Regards. Wiki Raja 19:48, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Actually, I proposed the deletion of this article because I did not think this artist was notable enough to have an article. A few hours before deletion, I was asked to notify the contributors of this article about its deletion. You were one of the contributors of Arooj Aftab that is why you received the message. P. G. Wodehouse tweaks
Hi, I just undid a couple of changes you made to some P.G.Wodehouse pages - I've been using quote marks for short stories and italics for full novels, to tell the two forms apart, I think this is the standard way this is done (it's the way the whole PGW section is at the moment anyway). If you think this is wrong please let me know and I'll fix it, JohnnyZen 17:14, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
India
Because of India's rich diversity, no one image can represent all of India's one billion people. That is why I propose selecting a new demographics image every three months. This would allow for a regional balance and would show India as a whole. Many people have agreed that this is the only way to represent India's rich and varied diversity. Since you have voted for a change in the demographics section, I wanted to update you on this proposal. I would love to hear your comments on talk:India. Thanks so much. Have a great day!

Welcome to WP:India
Hi, and welcome to the India WikiProject! We're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of India.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Please participate in any of our descendant workgroups that might interest you.
- The project has a bimonthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered in its entirety, but several other formats are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every India article in Wikipedia.
- Can you code? The automation department uses automated and semi-automated methods to perform batch tasks that would be tedious to do manually.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! — Lost(talk) 21:11, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
re: AWB on ta WP
I had once written to Ravi the steps to use AWB on ta. See [1]. HTH. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 13:14, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- You should be able to do spelling fixes in tamil wiki too. Did you have any trouble getting it to work on ta wiki? Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 17:27, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- In the steps that I had to send Ravi, I have to point to this one:
- File - User project preferences. Select "ta" here for language. And also do, File - login. -- Ganeshk (talk) 17:31, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- I have not used regex feature on AWB yet. Not sure how regex works on unicode text on ta wiki. I have replaced one word with another in English wiki. To play safe, do a simple find and replace, one word with another. -- Ganeshk (talk) 02:25, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
Regarding Madhubot
Hi there. I've currently blocked User:Madhubot as a security precaution since you have not been granted approval to run it at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval yet, nor have you edited its userpage yourself to verify that you indeed own this bot. Feel free to request unblocking as soon as approval has been granted. -- Netsnipe ► 17:01, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I guess I am a little confused here. I created the user page for Madhubot while I had logged in as Madhubot.. and I just tried submitting a request for Bot Approval - again, while logged in as Madhubot (I thot that's how it's done), but I got this message saying it was blocked... Umm, what exactly should I do now? (1) Update the userpage of Madhubot while signed in as Nmadhubala? (2) Submit the request for bot approval, again while signed in as Nmadhubala? Is that right? I am totally confused here, so any assistance would be appreciated! --Madhu 17:06, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Yes. That's right. Just copy and paste {{unblock|[[Wikipedia:Bots/Requests_for_approval#Madhubot]]}} into User_talk:Madhubot when it's approved and the account will be unblocked. Thanks. -- Netsnipe ► 17:10, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Friends, I've created an expanded this article on film producer and director Avichi Meiyappa Chettiar. My aim is to get this article featured on Wikipedia's Main page on June 28, the 101st birth anniversary of AVM. It would be great if you could help me in copy-editing work as well as in completion of the Filmography section. Valuable assistance or useful suggestions towards further improvement of the article is most welcome. -RavichandarMy coffee shop 05:41, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Chola Dynasty
The Epic Barnstar | ||
I award you this epic barnstar in appreciation of your hard work in adding citations to support a number of statements in Chola Dynasty. Sundar \talk \contribs 06:08, 29 May 2008 (UTC) |
- Hi. Thanks for digging up the book and finding citations. Can I ask you to use the ndash instead of "pp 19-20" with a raw hyphen for the page ranges. Also, please do not put "see AUTHOR" in the footnote, because it's not what is usually done. It's also implicit because of it's a reference to us to look there. I have started fixing some of these, but please keep it in mind, while you are adding more citations. Also, why are you using "Geeta Vasudevan, p 5" when you listed the surname as just "Vasudevan" in the book list at the bottom? Keep up the good work. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 10:22, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Clarification
If you go through my edits you will find that I haven't replaced – (ndash) with -(hyphen) but rather replaced the html entity &ndash with —. This entity can be found in the edit mode.:-
Insert: – — … ‘ “ ’ ” ° ″ ′ ≈ ≠ ≤ ≥ ± − × ÷ ← → · § Sign your username: ~~~~ (on talk pages)
By doing this I have reduced the mess caused by the word &ndash. Great job on the article BTW.- KnowledgeHegemonyPart2 (talk) 08:33, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yes you understood it right. - KnowledgeHegemonyPart2 (talk) 12:16, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Correction!!!: Forget whatever I said about the dashes. The long dash in the edit mode is in fact emdash. I reverted my edits on the Chola Dynasty page. Sorry!- KnowledgeHegemonyPart2 (talk) 14:57, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I am confused. Actually I need someone to explain me about the dashes! - KnowledgeHegemonyPart2 (talk) 15:04, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: Carnatic music
Purandaradasar is not the founder of Carnatic music, to answer your question. He was the founder of the current system of teaching it - which lays much of the foundations (that, with his other contributions, earned him the title of 'father'). Ncmvocalist (talk) 17:22, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

The article No Place Like Home (novel) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- non-notable per WP:BK
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 21:55, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
Nomination of No Place Like Home (novel) for deletion
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/No Place Like Home (novel) until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest
Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.
As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.
If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.
You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can _target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 11:25, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
