editHi, I saw that you removed these calls to party colours from Wikidata on the Europe of Sovereign Nations (party) page. Was there a problem with them? I have gone ahead and placed calls to Wikidata in the infoboxes of European political parties/alliances. It makes it easier to copy/paste and has worked really well, and I am actually trying to increase this slowly as a trial run. Best, Julius Schwarz (talk) 05:15, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
Logo of the Europe of Sovereign Nations (party)
editHi,
In order to avoid a needless edit back-and-forth, let's continue the discussion here. To be clear, I am happy to see this page built, and I personally very much welcome the inclusion of this logo.
What I am saying is that the page of the logo requires the addition of non-free use rationale for each article the logo is used on, and that this logo was already removed several times always for the same reason -- for instance, on 12 and 16 September (not by me, but by @JJMC89 bot, which I have no links to).
So even if you undo my removal, it's just going to be removed quite soon, FYI.
Best, Julius Schwarz (talk) 10:14, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
- My logo was uploaded on September 22. This is not the ESN Group logo, but the ESN Party logo taken from the ESN Party website mentioned in the article. This logo follows all the rules for using non-free logos ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Logo_of_the_Europe_of_Sovereign_Nations_Party.png#Summary ). In NFR I indicated the article about the PARTY, not about the GROUP. I don't know the whole story of the logo war in this article, and I'm not going to participate in it. But I don't see any adequate reasons to remove this logo. PLATEL (talk) 10:20, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
- I am aware this is not about the group, and the page I linked to was clearly about the party as well. All I know is that this had been removed several times on the same grounds and there was still no non-free use rationale added. I'm happy to leave the logo on the page, but don't be surprised if it gets removed by a bot one of these days. Julius Schwarz (talk) 13:56, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

Invitation to participate in a research
editHello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.
Kind Regards,
MPU logo
editHi PLATEL, I want to take this chance to thank you for your many edits on the politics of several countries. I've seen your edits many times in articles related to Moldovan politics. I see you changed the logo of Mișcarea Politică Unirea to a PNG version, but it excludes the MPU's name. They never seem to exclude it, it's present either above the Greater Romania map or to its right [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]. I think it is better to use a version showing both the map and the name, and a map of Greater Romania alone looks quite awkward shown as a logo on a Wikipedia party infobox. What do you think? Super Ψ Dro 21:05, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- I could agree with that, but firstly I see that MPU used a lot of different fonts to the left or above the logo (and usually these fonts were regular black-or-blue text fonts). And secondly, most importantly, the logo is non-free, and the version with text will be very compressed, and overall look worse than the just logo without text. It would be nice to vectorize this logo with the text, but this logo is hard to vectorize because of the detailed shapes and gradients. So I suggest keeping the current PNG logo, or making a vector version of the logo with the text. (i really don't want to sacrifice the quality of the logo for the sake of text) PLATEL (talk) 21:15, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- I personally would favor accuracy before aesthetics. It's not like the original logo itself is very creative or pretty. If the MPU has used several fonts, I would give prevalence to the one they decided to use for their profile picture in Facebook, which from what I see is their only official social media account. I don't really know how vectorizing works so I'll trust you on that it is difficult and will let it as is if you wish, but I believe only using the map standing by itself is a misrepresentation. Super Ψ Dro 22:38, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- I see a lot of variations of logos with text, with different fonts, colors and text placement. There is even this variation. But I don't think this text is part of the logo. And I wanted to upload the logo, not the logo+text. Anyway, I would like to keep the current logo, but if I (try to) make an svg version of this logo, I will add the text, so be it. LOESS Code
editDo you still have the code that was used to create the opinion polling chart for the 2020 Democratic Primaries? I would like to start producing opinion polling charts for other US elections and primaries, but I haven't had any luck converting the files provided on the Github; keep getting errors that I can't translate. Ariostos (talk) 01:29, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- yea, i've added the code into the description PLATEL (talk) 01:35, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks! Ariostos (talk) 05:01, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- So I've encountered a roadblock, and ChatGPT is not giving me a clear answer, least one I understand. Currently I am getting the "Discrete values supplied to continuous scale." error in my code, but I haven't changed that particular section from the way you had it "scale_y_continuous(labels = function(x) paste0(x, "%"), limits=c(0,69))+". Is there another step that I'm missing? Ariostos (talk) 07:11, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- Never mind, I was able to figure out what was wrong; didn't realize that the R Code could be so nitpicky about the data. Ariostos (talk) 20:48, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- @PLATEL: Correction, I have encountered another minor issue; the Legend is gone and I can't get it to reappear. As before, ChatGPT is being rather cryptic in its answers, and I didn't edit anything that made mention of the legend. What did you do to make yours work? It isn't the most important thing, but it would be good to keep to the same template as the other opinion poll graphs. Ariostos (talk) 21:52, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
