Interest in Wikimedia Midwest concept?
editGreetings - in an effort to help nudge a conversation about developing a broader Wikimedia presence in the Midwest, I've posted the beginnings of a Wikimedia Midwest page/proposal. I was wondering if you might know anyone, yourself included, who might be interested in organizing or helping shepherd this proposal along? Any thoughts you may have would be most welcome on that page or it's talk page. Thank you! --Varnent (talk) 22:42, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Saint Thomas Christians
editDear PeRshGo,
Thanks for your response at talk page of Saint Thomas Christians. This matter is being discussed at [dispute resolution Noticeboard] in the section Saint Thomas Christians. I have cited several peer reviewed research journal papers with page numbers that give evidence for the claim of the said community regarding their claim to Jewish heritage. Yet the editors say that there is no WP:RS. The editor User:In ictu oculi stated in the discussion page at the wikipedia resolution noticeboard that no evidence exists for even such a claim. But actually the traditional song of the said people that is the 'Saint Thomas Christians' a.k.a. Nasranis a.k.a. 'syrian christians' called as "RAMBAN song" states that according to traditional beliefs the first people converted by Apostle Thomas in the Malabar coast were Jewish people in the Malabar. Here is the reference (The Song of Thomas Ramban" in Menachery G (ed); (1998) "The Indian Church History Classics", Vol. I, The Nazranies, Ollur, 1998. [ISBN 81-87133-05-8]). I need to state here that User:In ictu oculi is not a neutral on looker of this entire conflict. He has taken part in discussion before in previous conflict on the talk page. You could please check the talk page. He cannot claim to be neutral onlooker and pretend to give neutral view on the dispute. The peer reviewed research paper by Prof Shalva Weil (1982) states in page 181 to quote: "..it should be pointed out that the tradition of Jewish origin or Jewish connections in Kerala is preserved not only by the Cnanite or Southist group but also by the wider group of Syrian Christians, or Northists" (from Weil, S. (1982)"Symmetry between Christians and Jews in India: The Cananite Christians and Cochin Jews in Kerala. in Contributions to Indian Sociology,16. pages 175-196. She further goes on to state the content of the claim of the community in page no 182 in the quote "St. Thomas retired to the Jewish quarter in Cranganore, where he took up residence. Apparently, St. Thomas regularly attended synagogue where he preached about Jesus, the Messiah. He explained to the Jews the meaning of the Scripture and he spoke to them of Jesus, his miracles, of his death, of his resurrection. And many believed. Rabbi Paul demanded baptism ... and other families followed his example. And the Jews who remained obdurate gave the numerous Christians the name Nazarins." (from Weil, S. (1982)"Symmetry between Christians and Jews in India: The Cananite Christians and Cochin Jews in Kerala. in Contributions to Indian Sociology,16. pages 175-196). Clearly the editors are working for POV or are not well read though they think they know everything. Please help. I can only state citations from research papers published in academic journals. There are several other peer reviewed research papers that I have quoted that gives evidence of the claim to a Jewish origin of the said community. But if a group of 4 or 5 editors form a group together then it is hard to do anything even with citations. Please help. thanks Robin klein (talk) 02:03, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
Suggestion for quote
editHi, PeRshGo. May I suggest the following additional quote for your user page?
If I'd had more time, I would've written you a shorter letter.
Blaise Pascal, Lettres provinciales, 1656-7, Number 16, this one written December 4, 1656, "Je n’ai fait /cette lettre-ci/ plus longue que parce que je n’ai pas eu le loisir de la faire plus courte" - roughly, "I made this letter so long (lit.: longer) only because I didn’t have the time to make it shorter."[1]
Please join if you can, and help them pick a location: Wikipedia:Meetup/Detroit, MI/Wiknic/2013.--Pharos (talk) 19:22, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Request for Hamtramck/Hamtramck school photos
editDear PeRshGo:
When you have time, are you able to take photos in Hamtramck? I listed some requests at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Michigan/Detroit. The most important ones are the school photos, particularly of Hamtramck Public Schools. When I asked a Polish editor if he could make a Polish article on Hamtramck Public Schools, he expressed interest and asked if there were photos. While there aren't any yet, it would be nice if there were some.
I have requests for Highland Park too but it's okay if you don't want to do them at this time (especially if you don't want to go to Highland Park). If you do have time/are willing to do this, that would be great.
Thank you, WhisperToMe (talk) 13:19, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

MDC Partners
editHi PeRshGo! I'm reaching out because you are listed as a member of Wikiproject Marketing & Advertising. I posted a note there recently about a new draft I wrote for MDC Partners (the current article is pretty sparse), but haven't had a response. If you're up for it, I'd love your help reviewing what I've put together. As a full disclosure, I have a financial conflict of interest and created the draft on behalf of MDC Partners (though I aimed to remain neutral and used independent sourcing). I won't make changes myself and am very open to feedback! Thanks! Heatherer (talk) 19:50, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
Bengali articles about Metro Detroit
editHi! I didn't realize you knew some Bengali!
These might interest you:
- Hamtramck, Michigan -> bn:হেমট্রামিক, মিশিগানহেমট্রামিক, মিশিগান
- Hamtramck Public Schools -> bn:হেমট্রামিক পাবলিক স্কুল্স
- Detroit Public Schools Community District -> bn:ডেট্রয়েট পাবলিক স্কুল্স
- Detroit International Academy for Young Women -> bn:ডেট্রয়েট আন্তর্জাতিক বালিকা বিদ্যায়তন
- Al-Islah Mosque -> bn:আল-ইসলাহ জামে মসজিদ
I had requested all of these articles to help the Bengali community of Metro Detroit WhisperToMe (talk) 12:21, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
- At best I can muddle my way through it. I've actually been working on an article for a Bengali artist for some time. But I'll see what I can do. PeRshGo (talk) 14:21, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
- Ok! One thing to note: I wrote something on the Bengali population at Detroit International Academy using a Detroit Free Press article as a source, and this content was translated into Bengali: However a later Wikipedia editor believed it was a mistake based on the official figures from DPS - It's possible the Bengali article on DIA may need to be corrected WhisperToMe (talk) 08:13, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

Knights Templar
editHi. I certainly don't wish to get into an edit war, but the logo you have reverted on the KT page is totally unknown in the English (KT/KM) united orders, and in fact conflicts somewhat - it could not be used in our constitution, owing to its form and wording. I am aware that the logo is well known in America, but it is unknown on this side of the pond. It really isn't appropriate for a general article. [Incidentally, and as an aside, this no doubt supports your idea of separate articles, as mentioned by you on the KT talk page.] Timothy Titus Talk To TT 18:01, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
- I suppose my only counter to that is there is no symbol more well associated with the Knights Templar as part of Freemasonry. All others are common Christian symbols. It may however be worth nothing that it isn't universal.
Freemasonry
editThank you for your message PeRshGO. I thought it was more important for people to know who is head of freemasonry rather than lodges by country. I did not know how to edit it otherwise to add the head of freemasonry to the website because I suppose that is important for people to know. It happened 3 years ago and very few people know about Valentin Cojocaru being head. It would be great if you could add a chapter with his name and official page https://valentin.postach.io/ Best Regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by CvillanValentin (talk • contribs) 19:07, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Sir Slam A Lot.jpg
editThank you for uploading File:Sir Slam A Lot.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.
