Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. Thank you I am sorry I did not reply any sooner I am still getting adjusted to how things work here on Wiki. I am a fast learner and enjoy research. So let me introduce myself my name is Lorenzo I have a degree in Architecture and currently have my own design build company here in Va. I like the arts and music. I looked at your page earlier and see you have worked on pieces from many different cultures. I think that is great. I will be on tomorrow mid day eastern time USA. Take care LorenzoLorenzo Da Silva 06:11, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Hm... I think you have been USING A BIT TOO MUCH UNNECESSARY CAPITALISATION. BTW, about your sig, maybe you should put up a link to your userpage, as stated in WP:Signatures. Kayau Voting IS evil 13:31, 21 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Some more observations and advice

edit
  • Wikipedia is not "Wiki" as you refer to it on your user page. See WP:NOTWIKI. You should always specify the name of the wiki, in this case Wikipedia or more specifically the English Wikipedia. Thanks.
  • You could request a change to your account name because currently it violates WP:REALNAME. See Wikipedia:Changing username to get your username fixed. You should not edit under the real name of another person, in this case your father's name.
  • Your user page mentions that you have reference material about your father's career. You could make a separate user subpage to list it. This will show other users what you have, and help you keep track as you work sources into the article about your father.

Adoption

User:IBen/Classroom/Offer

Hello mono

edit

I think I'm adopted already. I'm not sure but I welcome any help or advice as you must know the confusion I must have lol. Google is an amazing company you must have enjoyed working on them. I have a client that wants me to contact them with an idea he has. I am waiting for a nondisclosure agreement from his attorney before I can approach Google. Anyways ya have a look and tell me what you think this is still a work in progress. I am putting up as much information that I have and then I guess what ever is not linked to cited material will have to be removed before this is released (example some portions of his exhibitions, grants, ect. I have a lot more work tomorrow I am calling up the Texas archives to send me files that he has there from noted individuals. I will also be contacting the Museums to send me w/e they have on him. Also actresses like Joan Crawford have his art and attended his shows. Any idea on how to ref that?

  Doing... later today.--mono 16:42, 23 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

  1.  Y Thank you.
  1. Am i officially adopted by you now? or was I supposed to do something?
  1. I have a couple of Catalogs that are over 200-400 pages long they are part of a yearly series that show the artist and their works that were displayed in their respective countries international art competition. They have information on the Judges, city officials, contestants, and have articles from critics and Dr.s. Can i use these as to cite the location and date of my fathers exhibitions?
  1. What about my earlier question regarding capitalization of book titles? If the title of the book is in all caps should i keep it cited that way of just cap the first letter?
  1. I have a book that cites my fathers works and shows between 1951 -1962 to do multiple ref of the same source can i use the <ref name="name"> ... </ref> feature on the first reference and then <ref name="name" /> on the proceeding?

Orphaned non-free media (File:Alfredo_Da_Silva_Self_Portrait.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Alfredo_Da_Silva_Self_Portrait.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 06:10, 6 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Group-photo.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Group-photo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 17:08, 26 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite

edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can _target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:49, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Alfredo Da Silva Self Portrait.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Alfredo Da Silva Self Portrait.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:41, 5 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
