Former Arsenal minor players
What criteria are you using to list former Arsenal minor players? I noticed that you removed Tim Hotte as he wasn't shown in Jeff Harris' book. This book only shows players that signed professional for Arsenal. Hotte was an Arsenal apprentice but wasn't offered professional forms - similar to Pat Dolan. There are also plenty of players that played in Arsenal's reserves but only as a triallist (e.g. Jesper Olsen, Robbie James, Alexi Lalas). Then there are players that played a few games in the youth team (Glenn Roeder [I'm pretty sure he signed apprentice forms but didn't stay too long], Stuart Nethercott, Keith Weller). If you could let me know I may be able to add quite a few names to the list. Goonerak (talk) 19:37, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
Disruptive anon
Hi there. You may have been monitoring the situation at the Cesc Fabregas article, but I think enough is enough. The anon editor is clearly disruptive and has stepped over the precipice of mere incivility. See his talk page and the article history for evidence. Cheers. Charlie Peachey & Tom McQuilkie
Hi, I bought Tony Matthews' Who's Who Of Arsenal last week and he has given first names to Charles Bernard Peachey & Thomas McQuilkie. Great, I thought, just R.Foster to name now. However, I've had a good look through the book and found a fair amount of mistakes that I can verify from very reliable sources. Not sure how you feel about adding the first names, citing the source and warning that it isn't 100% reliable. I also bought Arsenal - Extraordinary Images Of An Amazing Club which has a photograph of Corporal Frederick Wood, as well as plenty of mistakes as well (Joe Baker is named as Joe Buchan in one picture) :( —Preceding unsigned comment added by Goonerak (talk • contribs) 10:50, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
I must be going mad, not sure where I got Tom McQuilkie from as Tony Matthews' book has it as James McQuilkie. Anyway, just checked this season's handbook which has a list of all players to have played in the first team compiled the legend that is Fred Ollier. He has these two listed as Charles Peachey and James McQuilkie. Still no first name for R.Foster though. --Goonerak (talk) 07:51, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
London Meetup - January 12, 2008
Hi! There's going to be a London Wikipedia Meetup coming Saturday January 12, 2008. If you are interested in coming along take part in the discussion over at Wikipedia:Meetup/London7. The discussion is going on until tomorrow evening and the official location and time will be published at the same page late Thursday or early Friday. Hope to see you Saturday, Poeloq (talk) 03:03, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi - I wanted to let you know that I removed the PROD tag from this article - I think that there was some confusion by the article creator in the transliteration from Japanese to English. There is another player, Naoaki Aoyama, whom I'm guessing this article should be about. Where this idea of him playing for Manchester is beyond me, though... Anyway, I put a merge tag on the article you had marked for deletion, fixed it up a bit, and I'll do the re-write and merge myself if have time in the next few days.
I just wanted to let you know why I removed the tag - BWH76 (talk) 09:09, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi - I wish had the Watford Season by Season book, which I think would have the date (and be very handy for me). But alas, I don't. I'll send an e-mail to someone I think does have it, and see whether he can find anything. Cheers, HornetMike (talk) 14:32, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Reginald Tricker
I notice that you have undone a recent edit of mine that changed the date of birth of Reginald William Tricker from 1905 to 1904.
Reg Tricker was my father, and was born on 5th October 1904 in Karachi. I don't know where the 1905 date came from but it is incorrect. If you require any supporting information, please let me know. Foxkraft (talk) 17:21, 25 January 2008 (UTC) Kevin Tricker (Foxkraft) 25th January 2008.
Jimmy Dunne
Hi I edited Jimmy Dunnes profile yesterday to correct the following fact: whilst Jimmy had a long career at Torquay United and Fulham.
This refers to his younger son Jimmy who is not the same player
His son Jimmy played with Tommy for St Pats and also played for leicester city appearing 5 times, he won a FAI cup winners medal playing in the same team as Tommy in 1959 as supported by the following book "Football in the Republic of Ireland a statistical record 1921-2005"
He died in 1983 0r 1984
The Jimmy Dunne you refer to Fulham player was not related to the famous footballing Dunnes from Dublin. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Delmccaig (talk • contribs) 16:07, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Fulham Review
You apparently deleted it as an A7, but media such as periodicals and books, etc are not among the classes of things specified in WP:CSD. It seems to be a publication, not web content, I have no idea of its notability, but please undelete it and restore the prod, or send it to afd DGG (talk) 00:08, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Terrance Kelly Page
You deleted this page citing "blatent advertising." It was clearly created to be a bio rather than advertisement. Please advise on what your reasoning was. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KingofAtlanta (talk • contribs) 15:58, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Gareth Hopkins (footballer)
Gareth Hopkins was on Cheltenham during the time when they were promoted to the Football League Second Division. Even if he did not play in the FLSD, he still made appearances when Cheltenham played in the Football League Third Division, which is obviously now the equivalent of League Two. Does this not qualify him as being professional? My understand is that anyone who has played in League Two or higher was considered professional. Therefore I think your decision to place a deletion tag on his wiki entry is a harsh one. Please let me know what the "correct" qualifications are for footballers if I am mistaken.
GauchoDude (talk) 19:53, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
No worries, I was just trying to make sure I had the correct guidelines myself as I am trying to decide which Weston-super-Mare A.F.C. player pages I am allowed to create & edit and which do not fall into the "professional" category. Thanks for removing your deletion notice!

Sorry about that. Fingers clicked before brain engaged.... Is it fixable? The Rambling Man (talk) 09:26, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Reg Tricker & Arsenal
Thanks for your prompt response and correction.
Anyway - I'm seeking a bit of advice. I have a few old photos of my father's playing career at Arsenal (and possibly Charlton). Would they be of any interest to yourself - or even to include on Wikipedia or an Arsenal website. I have digitalised them, so I can send them over e-mail etc. They show other some other players, although I don't know any names. If anyone has an interest, I'd be happy to share them.
Any advice appreciated. Kevin Tricker Foxkraft (talk) 20:51, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Anon resorting to personal attacks
Hi, yet another request for admin intervention. At the Mass Effect talkpage, an anon user has insisted time and time again to insert certain content despite several other users trying to explain that undue weight is certainly contravened. I won't go into the merits of the argument; what has become unacceptable is him resorting to foul language and name calling. The anon in question is 144.92.84.206. Would appreciate if you could look into this, thanks. Chensiyuan (talk) 15:34, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Reg Tricker & Arsenal (photos)
Copyright could be an issue. All the original photos would appear to be press originated - a couple had a press agency name and address in London listed on the back, but I believe that the agency no longer exists (can pursue further though - need to get info from my brother who has originals). Given the likely age of the photos (circa 1926), acquiring formal copyright agreement would appear to be impractical. Is there a time limit on photographic copyright ? Any thoughts on how I might proceed - seems a shame to just let them rot away in the drawer unseen. Foxkraft (talk) 17:53, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Normal Except Banaray FC
After discovering the page i created on NEBFC had been deleted today, despite being given five days notice yesterday, i was shocked and confused.
I understand Wikipedia to be a website to which anybody can add information that they believe people would want to know/have access too. NEBFC is a hugely popular local team with a fan base of over 600 and after putting many hours into the page i thought it would be fit for public consumption, obviously Qwghlm, you think otherwise, if you decide to keep it deleted. please give me a proper reason why, not that b.s excuse that 'Article about a club or group that does not assert significance'. At what point would a football club become worthy of Wikipedia..?
would you of refused a pub team? would you of refused Ebbesfleet? Havant and waterlooville? Northwood? and why! wikipedia can not be limited by those excuses or else it will not grow.

thank you for the quick response, i do apprectiate it. I now know not to try and make wikipedia better as i will be tripped up at every possible step along the way, as was shown in the past day.

Middle names
Hi, I added the middle names of some Arsenal players but you have removed them as being uncited which is fair enough. Can you let me know what you would consider as a reliable source so that I can add it? I have been using the official UK Birth, Marriage & Death records which are available on www.ancestry.co.uk. Would this be a reasonable source bearing in mind that you need to subscribe to the website to check the validity of the information? It is very rare for a club to publish a player's full name on the official club website. --Goonerak (talk) 17:44, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Notability of footballers
Hi, you contributed to the discussion about football notability criteria in November, so you will be delighted/appalled that I have restarted the discussion here. Please give your opinion so that we can move towards formalising the criteria. Regards, King of the NorthEast 15:02, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Notability of non-playing footballers (AfD:Paul Rodgers (footballer))
Hello! You contributed to AfD:Paul Rodgers by voting to keep him. As you may know, WP:FOOTY is currently working to finalize a Notability criteria. One of the points of the current suggestion that are still being debated is more or less a translation of AfD:Paul Rodgers. I'm now trying to come up with a suggestion that summarizes this AfD, and would like you to comment on my interpretation of your arguments, and perhaps even discuss a suggestion. Thank you! Hi Qwghlm/archive8,
I am User:Anoymous101 on Wikinews. I noticed you contributed to Template:Football kit and I think Wikinews could benefit from the template in its Football articles. Unfourunately howevery the GFDL is not compatible with Wikinews' CC-BY. As a ressullt, I am asking you (and other contributers to the template) if they woud mind dual-licensing their work on the template (with CC-BY) so it can be usd on Wikinews. Please reply at the talk page for my IP address.

Hi Chris. I've created an article on Jackie Mordue, who played for Arsenal at the start of his career. (You have him listed as John Mordue.) Can you add anything to the article?

1943 Challenge Cup
According to a book I have, Blackpool beat Arsenal 4-2 in the "Challenge Cup Final" at Stamford Bridge on May 15, 1943 (the end of an inter-war season). Jock Dodds' article mentions the game, but that reads like it was an overall final of the League War Cup. Any ideas as to the correct competition name? - Dudesleeper / Talk 15:43, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
List of players
I've just noticed your comment regarding the proposed move of Gillingham players. If you take a look at List of Bradford City A.F.C. players, which myself and GiantSnowman have created, it does take a little while to load. And there are still a few flags to add on yet and no citations at this stage. Peanut4 (talk) 00:29, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
I can understand the objections... if we could find some RS that uses a term like "major" or "significant" or "historic" or whatever (other than "notable"!), allied with some cut-off like our 100 appearances, that'd give a NPOV title that would easily fulfil comprehensivess. --Dweller (talk) 15:26, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- As you've no doubt seen, I've been arguing passionately for the Cat+Hat-note=comprehensiveness argument, but, like I say, I do see where they're coming from. Off-the-wall suggestion - do you think there's a verifiable usage of "centurion" for someone who plays 100 times for a club? --Dweller (talk) 15:44, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Comprehensive long lists discussion
Hello, I noticed that you took part in the recent FLRC for List of Arsenal F.C. players and thought you might be interested in participating in a new discussion. The FLRC was closed as no consensus and it is clear the the issue of incompleteness in longer FLs is not over, so a discussion page has been started here. Contribution To Arsene Wenger Page
Dear Sir/Madam,
This is my first time "editing" on wikipedia. I didn't mean to do anything wrong but was simply adding a link that is relevant to Arsene Wenger since the article added was an analysis of Arsene Wengers 10 year time at Arsenal. I listed the link under "external links". The website is a respectable website, a popular Arsenal website with 12 regular writers. The link was:
http://www.arsenalreview.co.uk/2006/09/viva-la-revolucion-che-wengers-new.html
Please could you e-mail me at: [deleted] to let me know why the link was removed. Thank you.

Arsenal's "lucky FA Cup shirt"
Hi Qwghlm - Arsenal did indeed play most of their FA Cup matches for several years after 1971 in a yellow shirt and blue shorts. They only wore their red and white strip in the 1972 final because of a clash with Leeds' white shirts. Grutness...wha? 23:20, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi again - you wrote: I removed the claim because it said Arsenal consistently wore yellow in cup finals for reasons of tradition or luck (when the likes of 1988 in the League Cup, as well as 1993 & 1998, all of which worn in red, disprove). Actually, I thught I'd written that they wore them consistently in the FA Cup for luck - no mention of finals at all. They definitely wore the yellow shirts from the third round on (except where there were clear clashes) for several seasons - from memory up until about 1976-77 (the 17 seasons from 1971 to 1988 is hardly "several", let alone the 27 seasons to 1998!). Grutness...wha? 03:35, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Honours
I note that you have reverted my edits adding an "Honours" section with the 1932 FA Cup Final to the Arsenal players who appeared. I added them after I added the team details to the article. I agree with you that all the relevant honours, both cup and league, should be shown, and if I'm creating/expanding an article on a player, I try to include them all. To be honest, I was hoping that you, as the acknowledged Arsenal expert, would complete them, but that's probably rather presumptuous of me! I could add the various FA Cup Final appearances myself, but I would struggle with the League championships, which would require a bit more research, whereas you presumably have this at your fingertips, so to speak. I'll leave it up to you. Cheers. --Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 12:13, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
