Ironically, I've been thinking that we should give some kind of recognition to User:Vaoverland - when I went on my "spree", I was impressed with how many VA related articles he contributed to. New Article Improvment page for WP:VIRGINIA

Seeing as our old Collaborations page at WP:VIRGINIA had no activity in the past year it was decided to replace it with a new Article Improvement/Request Help page that would allow members to list articles in need of attention. Thanks for uploading Image:WPVA.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. Spiegel Grove / Rutherford B. Hayes estate photo

Hi RebelAt -- I visited the Spiegel Grove article to add some information. I notice you uploaded and included a picture of Rutherford B. Hayes and Lucy Hayes on the porch of the house, back in July of 2006. The picture is nice and adds to the article, in fact in my edits I at first moved it up to show early in the article. But unfortunately I believe the photo is copyrighted and should be deleted from wikipedia. Your stated justification back then, that the photo is stated to be available for research purposes, is inadequate justification to upload it and assert that a Creative Commons license applies, in my view. Perhaps that would be your own view now, too.

Please discuss at Image talk:Hayeshouse.jpg. If you now agree that the photo should be deleted, I suppose it would be most helpful if you would delete it yourself or make a request for deletion yourself. doncram (talk) 19:00, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your replies, and for being gracious about it. I have now put in a deletion request for it. In the article, there is now an external link to the photo though. Also, f.y.i., I did try looking at Historic American Buildings Survey for any other old picture of the house, but find that they only have measured drawings of the house (which I added as another external link). doncram (talk) 22:06, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

P.S. I notice your picture above of Montpelier in Virginia in 2006. I am currently working on List of National Historic Landmarks in Ohio (which includes Spiegel Grove), but expect to move on soon to edit List of National Historic Landmarks in Virginia, because those are 2 of the last state NHL lists needing development. Hmm... I see that Montpelier is in fact an NHL and your pic of Montpelier is already included in the VA NHL list-article, great. There are lots of other National Historic Landmarks on those lists that do need photos, too. Keep up the good work. :) doncram (talk) 22:06, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Virginia NHLs

Thanks for tip about there being two Christ Church (Alexandria, Virginia) articles. I just quickly merged the material from the other version that I had created, into the previous existing one, and setup a redirect to it. And thanks for posting the nice pic to the List of National Historic Landmarks in Virginia. I wonder if there are other red-links in that list which should be redirected to pre-existing articles.

There's plenty of other development and cleanup needed there, too, and actually i have just invited several people that have worked with me before to join in. I find it a lot more enjoyable when there are others contributing, too, and I'm glad to learn that you might be part of that. Please do stay involved there! Hey i wondered where you had gone. The List of NHLs in VA has come along pretty far. Hope u don't mind i browsed your recent contributions and found your Canehill sandbox, to which i added an NRHP infobox.

Also, in that info from the NRIS there is mention of a Canehill MRA (Multiple Resource Assessment or something like that).
