Huggle User Category
editHi there. I have seen that you use huggle by the fact that you have automatically updated the huggle white list(it does this when closing huggle). I was wondering if you would add the category to your user page so that it fills out and we know who actually uses huggle. If you do not want to you do not have to. I am also sorry if i have already talked to you about this or you no longer use huggle but i sent it to everyone that has edited the page since mid January. I hope we can start to fill out this category. If you would like to reply to this message then please reply on my talk page as i will probably not check here again. Thanks. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 18:27, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Huggle Category Problem
editHi there. You are receiving this message from me as you have not added your huggle category correctly. At the moment on category here you can see that you are sorted under the letter U. To fix this please change the to . This will fix the problem. If you do not change this within a few days then i will do this for you but i would prefer to send you a message like this than just go and change your page. If you want to contact me then please use my talk page as i will not be checking back here. Thanks for your help. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 16:47, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Zora Neale Hurston
editHi, you left a note on my Talk page about my edits to Zora Neale Hurston being reverted by you. I'm glad you notified me so I could go back and see that I only undid one edit instead of reverting multiple ones. The changes made by my "undoing" looked completely reasonable and I thought that was the extent of the vandalism. But I suspect that you edited using a bot, because the changes resulting from your reversion were quite obviously wrong. For example, in your version, Zora's parents are "Micheal Jackson Hurston and Jessica Simpson Hurston" and her mother died in "2015" when Zora was "one hundred-thrity five". I have since reverted the article to what I believe is a good version, but I thought I should mention this to you in case you have a misbehaving bot. Mandarax (talk) 01:02, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
EDITS MADE
editThe edits were in response to those made by "BluAzur" regarding the articles images/formatting, which were neither productive, nor warranted, nor justified (ie. detail edit-summary ). Reverting to the prior version is both acceptable and appropriate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.158.136.204 (talk) 12:14, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:PAVCS Logo1.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:PAVCS Logo1.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:PAVCS Logo1.gif)
editThanks for uploading Image:PAVCS Logo1.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:03, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

- I, too, would like to wish you the best of luck with your RfA. The oppose votes based on your age are very unfortunate, age really is irrelevant ("if you're good enough, you're old enough" and all that). I have added a few questions for you to answer because I haven't got a clear understanding of where you stand on a few important issues. Whatever the result, keep up the good work and learn what lessons you can from the process. Rje (talk) 00:14, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
- You may have a chance if the users using age as a factor strikeout their opposes. Still more likely it ends in the 40%-70% range. Not enough for promotion though...Don't give up hope!!!!--Xp54321 (Hello! • Contribs) 00:16, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Recommendation
editRyan, let me start by saying that you appear to be a bright and intelligent editor for your age. You have handled all of this well. After conversation with you on irc, I have come to ask you to withdraw your RfA. It has gotten way out of hand, and I come here in good faith. I seriously doubt that there will be any more constructive criticism given to you from here on out; inside of your request for adminship. I am only asking you this, to spare you another 5 days of what I will call in fighting amongst the regular editors that attend RfA. Again, this is just helpful advice. Please don't let this discourage you in any way from further volunteering on wikipedia. Happy editing from — MaggotSyn 15:56, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
- I don't like asking people to withdraw, but in this case, I too kindly suggest that you withdraw your RfA. Very few of the opposition now are providing any constructive criticism, and the behavior of people on both the support and oppose sides has been terrible. I actually think you've handled this very well, and I hope that you'll decide to run again in the future. The final decision is up to you, and I'll respect your choice. Best wishes. Acalamari 16:39, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
- I third that. What the RfA is doing is merely causing a lot of bad feelings all around, and there is very little constructive criticism left. Many of the opposers are focusing on age, and then there's badgering, etc. Enigma message 17:29, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Good Luck!
editI would like to second many of the above comments and wish you the best of luck in your future work on Wikipedia. I really admire the dignified manner in which you presented yourself throughout your RfA. I was genuinely shocked by the comments made by some of those opposing you, as I was by the manner in which your RfA descended into a dogfight rather than a reasoned discussion. Provided that you demonstrate a stronger understanding of policy, and I really would suggest checking out WP:ARL, I will be more than happy to support you next time around because you clearly have the perfect temperament to be an admin. Hey, WikiUpdate is going to be doing a segment on the whole "age and adminship" debate. Would you be interested in participating in an interview? I understand if you don't; you've probably have to put up with "hey, isn't that the guy who sparked off the whole debate?..." thing for quite some time, but if you would i'd be very grateful :). editAlso, should I move the question I put on Riana's page? I'm pretty new here. I understand the basic editing stuff, and I think I understand the content stuff, but I'm a little fuzzy on the user communication aspects. Any advice or help is appreciated. --Chuck Gregory (talk) 15:13, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- Not to worry, you'll catch on. :) Yes, you are in the right place. As for your message to Riana, I already took care of it, and I see you re-titled it to fit. Just a basic summary... A userpage, beginning with the prefix "User:" is a place for that user edit and use however they please. Generally, userpages should only be edited by the users they show in their title, unless noted otherwise. A User Talk page, beginning with the prefix "User Talk:" is a place for other users to contact the user in it's title, as an alternative to E-mail. Also, the ways in which you should post comments on a user talk page, and the ways they will be dealt with, will always differ from user to user. Most experienced users post guidelines at the top of their user talk pages, as you can see above. ;) If you need any help with anything at all on Wikipedia, don't hesitate to leave a message for me, or pretty much any other user you think will be helpful. Don't worry, we won't bite... at least most of us. :P Cheers! -Ryan (Main Menu) (Language Selection) 21:27, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
