    Become a member of a project that interests you

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

Please remember to:

  • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the   button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp.
  • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!

Extended confirmed restrictions

edit

Hello,

Please be aware that all articles related to politics, ethnic relations, and conflicts involving Armenia, Azerbaijan, or both—broadly construed and explicitly including the Armenian genocide—are subject to an extended confirmed restriction. KhndzorUtogh (talk) 21:27, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for notifying me, but where does this policy oblige you to revert my edits as if I'm a pest? Here I read Enforcement of the restriction on articles primarily in the topic area is preferably done with extended confirmed protection, but it's not required (other enforcement methods are outlined in the policy). As always, review the policy before enforcing it. I control-F'ed the string "revert" and it returned 0 results. What exactly prompted you to apply this rule this harshly? Shoshin000 (talk) 07:41, 15 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Such a harsh application of this rule is unnecessary, I am open to dialogue. On the other hand, are you? Shoshin000 (talk) 07:44, 15 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

  Hello, I'm Zsohl. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Monsieur Ibrahim—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Zsohl(Talk) 08:31, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I've read WP:SPOILER and I understood that it is acceptable to put the ending in a separate section to prevent spoilers. Shoshin000 (talk) 08:32, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
The article just says that sections like "Plot" or "Ending" imply spoilers, not that they should have a spoiler warning. I also just don't see the point in having a separate section for such a short summary. Harryhenry1 (talk) 10:07, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
You gotta understand: I was frustrated by the final sentence spoiling the whole thing :) Shoshin000 (talk) 11:00, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I understand feeling frustrated (since the summary's so short it's hard to not look at it) but in the future it's better to not do that kind of editing out of frustration. Harryhenry1 (talk) 11:02, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yet I haven't violated the guidelines afaik? Shoshin000 (talk) 11:03, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
You did, since the Spoiler article specifically says not to add a spoiler warning notice like your edit did. Harryhenry1 (talk) 11:08, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

  Hello, I'm रोहित साव27. An edit you recently made to History of prostitution seemed to be a test and has been removed. If you want more practice editing, the sandbox is the best place to do so. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. रोहितTalk_with_me 10:59, 9 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand why you removed the image? Shoshin000 (talk) 12:01, 9 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

  Please refrain from making test edits in Wikipedia pages, such as those you made to Iran–Iraq War, even if you intend to fix them later. Your edits have been reverted. If you would like to experiment again, please use your sandbox. Thank you. Skitash (talk) 13:21, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Introduction to contentious topics

edit

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

edit

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:53, 19 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
