Long time no see. I'd like to PROD this screenshot, but I wanna contact you first instead because you uploaded it years ago. I can see an actor or a character using an umbrella amid a rain. A caption might've clarified what the image is about. Nonetheless, I'm concerned about its ability to contextually signify the whole film Chariots of Fire. - At the time it seemed appropriate fair use. It contextualizes the fact that Ian Charleson himself wrote the speech he gave in the film in that scene. Now, with stricter editing values, I can see why it may possibly not seem to meet stricter fair-use guidelines, although you should WP:FFD it rather than WP:PROD, which is only for articles, not files. As I see, you challenged the PROD tag. I'd like to take it to FfD, but I'm unsure whether it's worth the time to argue against such use. Well, I uploaded the other image File:Linda hunt billy kwan year of living dangerously.png to primarily display the actress as a male character in a film, not because a character was in a rainy scene with an umbrella without clarifying the readers what it was about. Furthermore, I had to add details in the film article about the casting and costuming. But..... Well, I've not yet seen others challenge such use of the actress's gender-bending scene. --George Ho (talk) 00:38, 18 August 2024 (UTC)

I find a lot of the sources through databases available through Wikipedia:The Wikipedia Library (TWL) as well as other databases I have access to. When searching for sources for AfD, the resources I find most useful are the British Newspaper Archive, EBSCO, Gale (Wikipedia:Gale), ProQuest, and Wikipedia:Newspapers.com, and to a much lesser extent Wikipedia:Newspaperarchive.com. I also have access to NewsBank which The Wikipedia Library is missing. NewsBank frequently has sources that the other databases don't have (and vice versa). Some academic institutions and public libraries grant access to NewsBank. I also do searches on Internet Archive, Google, Google Books, Google News, and Google Scholar.
Using Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Oasis (British TV series) as an example: For Oasis (British TV series), I was able to find a television review in The Stage via the British Newspaper Archive and ProQuest as well several articles in Newspapers.com. Compared to to topics with unique names, it was more difficult to find sources for Oasis, which is a common name. I refined the search by searching for "Oasis" and people or topics related to the television series such as "Carlton Television", "Carlton", "ITV", "CITV", "Zenith North", "Dean Gaffney", "John Simm", "Posh Robert", "wasteland", "The Jungle", and "Byker Grove" which helped filter out irrelevant results. Another tip is I used quotation marks around search terms so that the query returned only results with those exact phrases. When there were too many results, I also refined the searches by narrowing search results to the years 1992 to 1994 since the television series aired in 1993. For some topics, I do several combinations of searches in multiple places which is why for some of the harder cases it takes me between one and three hours for source searches.

Hello, you may not remember me, but we briefly conversed a number of years ago about the article Kurban Said. At the time you indicated that the article has serious POV issues and that you were planning to clean it up. It recently came back around on my list of old POV disputes to examine. There's been a few changes to the article since we last discussed it but not much. What more do you think should be done about the article? - Hi LWG, I haven't been looking at that article for a while. I was interested in it after reading Tom Reiss's book, The Orientalist, which is the definitive biography of Said/Nussimbaum. editHello, @Softlavender It appears you and me have engaged in an edit war regarding the image on Antony Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowdon, I can understand as I have dealt with idiots in portraits before however in a case like this I do think the color image is better as its twice as large, so better quality, and actually in color unlike the one you reverted it to.
