Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. -FASTILY(TALK) 17:58, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Port of Rijeka

Hi! Thanks for taking time to review the Port of Rijeka GA nomination.

DINA-petrokemija d.d. and DIOKI d.d. are company names (the "d.d." stands for Ltd in Croatian company names).--Tomobe03 (talk) 19:12, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

There is a similar article - Port of Ploče now at the GAN. Would you consider taking a look at that one as well?--Tomobe03 (talk) 12:50, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

Mentorship/Advice to improve my English

Drawn to you by your name, I want to ask you for assistance. I do not know if I need a full mentorship or that advice is enough. In September, I applied for autopatrol and was hammered on my use of English. As far as I know (and according to my spellchecker), I do not make (many) mistakes with that. Unfortunately, that person had another opinion and shattered my confidence. To make that clear: I am Dutch and English is only my second language. I had to learn my English again when I moved to Ireland, because no one speak British English there. Formerly working in a hotel with a lot of Indian managers and American guests probably confused my English. Therefore, I ask you advice/mentorship to help me improve my English for my personal benefit but also for the benefit of Wikipedia. An overview of the articles I have written can be found on my userpage. Night of the Big Wind talk 01:13, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

Demographics of Croatia

Thanks for reviewing the Demographics of Croatia article. Your comments are very helpful and constructive. I have already edited the article to include proposed economic indices and trimmed the lead a bit.

I also appreciate comments aimed at further improving the article, and I'll try to include some of that as soon as possible.--Tomobe03 (talk) 22:58, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

I think that I have addressed all the points you pointed out in the GA review, and think that it is ready for its final verdict. StringTheory11(ei=1) 05:43, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Highgrove House, Eastcote

Thank you for reviewing Highgrove House, I'll get to work on your suggestions. As an aside, when I give reviews I give users a chance to address my concerns first, to see how things progress. I see you are taking part in the backlog drive but would you consider keeping the nomination open for a couple of days to save relisting shortly? Harrison49 (talk)

Thank you for getting back to me. You can reopen the nomination by changing the fail symbols to question marks and replacing the fail talk page template with the original 'review in progress' one. I'll work on the article today and tomorrow and hopefully it will be up to standard shortly. Harrison49 (talk) 16:45, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
I've added a fair amount of new information which addresses most of your points. Would you mind taking another look?Harrison49 (talk) 15:43, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

GOCE drive newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors November 2011 backlog elimination drive report

GOCE November 2011 Backlog elimination drive progress graphs

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors November 2011 Backlog elimination drive! We would like to thank all who participated in this drive. Here is the end-of-drive report.

Participation

There were 48 editors who signed-up for this drive, of which 35 participated. Thank you to everyone who helped reduce the size of the backlog!

Progress report

During the drive, we reduced the backlog by 232 articles, or by about 6%. This is a two percent increase from our September drive, when we copy edited 4% of the backlog. We were successful in our primary goal of clearing the oldest three months—March, April, and May 2010—from the queue. Thanks to all who helped copy edit these difficult articles. Thus far we have reduced the copy edit backlog by 5086 articles, or by about 61%. End-of-drive results and barnstar information can be found here.

Coordinator election

The term of our second tranche of coordinators has run out, and we will be accepting nominations from December 5, 00:01 UTC to December 15, 23:59 UTC. If you or any other member of the Guild of Copy Editors wishes to be a coordinator, add your name to this page along with a statement describing why you believe you should be a coordinator for the Guild. You must be able to commit to a six month term. Thanks!

Once again, thank you for participating in the Guild's November 2011 Backlog elimination drive! Our next drive will be in January, and we hope to see you there!

Gerald Fischbach Article

Hi Tea with Toast!

Thank you for taking the time to review our article. A group of Boston College students in an Introduction to Neuroscience class worked on the article together and the other authors are Kochmd, Solomojk, and Hortonan. Feel free to contact them as well with any questions you may have. We are currently in final exams, but they should get back to you within a day or so if you send them a message. The goal of the project was to expand Wikipedia neuroscience stubs in conjunction with the ongoing Society for Neuroscience initiative. Our professor presented a list of neuroscience stubs at the beginning of the semester and each group selected one article to work on over the course of the class. Our group selected Gerald Fischbach's article because we believed his article didn't represent the major contributions he has made to the field of neuroscience. Fischbach and his assistant at the Simons Foundation have been extremely helpful throughout this process providing guidance and help whenever we needed it. Overall, I think the final product exceeded even our own expectations and it was a wonderful experience being able to contribute an article to the millions of Wikipedia users worldwide. Thank you again for you time and I hope you have a great holiday!

Kierak33 (talk) 23:27, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi again! I made changes to the references and the bot should generate them shortly. Let me know if you think anything else should get changed. Thanks again!

Kierak33 (talk) 01:15, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi Tea with Toast, I am another one of the contributors for the Gerald Fischbach article. I have made a few additional edits to the page based on suggestions from our professor. The reference changes that kierak33 are visible to me now, and I think they're all correct. If you have the chance today to give it another look over, we'd be very appreciative and willing to make any changes necessary to reach a final approval from you! Thank you for all your help!

Kochmd (talk) 17:15, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi Tea with Toast,

I just wanted to thank you for your review and all the time you spent on our article. I hope you had a great holiday and have a Happy New Years!

Talk:Fire and Blood (Game of Thrones)/GA1

Thank you for the complete, if premature review. There appear to be 20+ unaddressed GA nominations ahead of this in the theater/film/TV category, and WP:GAN encourages reviewers to deal with submissions in chronological order, unless the nominator already has an article on review. I will be renominating the article immediately, such that by the time it is legitimately the next article nominated by me to be reviewed, it will be ready, incorporating the feedback you've highlighted. Cheers, Jclemens (talk) 18:59, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

I sees that you are a member of WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors and a GOCE mentor. GCE Mentorship Program

Hello, Tea_with_toast. I am relatively new to Wikipedia (though not wikis, in general) and signed-on the the Guild of Copy Editors, as I've done a bit of editing work in the past. The Utahraptor suggested I take a look at the GCE Mentorship Program, and I see you are available as a Mentor. I would like to request a mentorship. I teach at the post-secondary level, thus semester start & end months I am very busy, so will not sign-up for January backlog elimination drive. I am currently working on some articles in the Sociology project, though. I need lots of help with learning Wikipedia editing techniques & procedures and more about the Guild! Looking forward to hearing from you. Regards, Meclee (talk) 21:08, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Hello Meclee, Welcome to Wikipedia! I would be happy to mentor you. It does take a bit of practice and trial-and-error to figure out some of the technical details of using wiki markup, but you'll get more comfortable with it over time. You can read about some of the basics of WP:wiki markup at that link. Other pages you may find helpful may include the following:
Those links should help you get started. We are happy that you've come to join the GoCE, and there is no need to join a backlog elimination drive to help out, you can edit whenever you want. If you have any more questions, let me know. I'd be happy to help you out, although just to warn you, I'm not on wikipedia every day, so it might take me a few days to reply. Again, welcome and happy editing! --Tea with toast (話) 20:16, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
Thank you, my mentor! I'm not on WP all the time, either. So, this will work well. Recently, I've done a major overhaul on the article Social complexity, created an article Level of analysis, and am about to post a major overhaul to Social network. When you do have a moment, perhaps you could look at those and let me know if I'm making any major errors! Thanks again! Meclee (talk) 16:14, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Help request for a new editor

Hi Tea with Toast:

I'd like to help with editing and I'm hoping this is the right place to post to get some help in determining how to start.

I write fairly well but I couldn't tell you what a predicate nominative is or most other formal English language terms. I was the team member in grad school who took members' contributions and blended them into a final document and kind of like cleaning up grammar and syntax.

Thanks, and any help you can give would be great.

Hi Tea with Toast,

I did some editing to this article after you had performed a copy edit on it. I took out a few things and added a few things but I don't think it affected any of the changes that you had made. Your copy edit was extremely helpful and my recent editing was not a result of that peculiar psychological phenomenon in which an editor thinks that they are somehow being "alpha" and getting "the last word" by tinkering after an official copy edit was performed. I just wish I could have figured out these changes before your copy edit. Thanks again for you contribution to this article. Much appreciated. GOCE January 2012 Backlog Elimination progress graph

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors January 2012 Backlog elimination drive! Here is your end-of-drive wrap-up newsletter.

Participation

45 people signed up for this drive this time; of these, 35 participated. This is similar to the number of editors who helped out in November. Thanks to all who participated! Barnstars will be distributed in the near future.

Progress report

Recent drives have been focusing on the oldest three months in the backlog. During this drive we were successful in eliminating our _target months—July, August, and September 2010—from the queue, and there are less than 300 articles remaining from 2010. End-of-drive results and barnstar information can be found here.

When working on the backlog, please keep in mind that there are options other than copy editing available; some articles may be candidates for deletion, or may not be suitable for copy editing at this time for other reasons. The {{GOCEreviewed}} tag can be placed on any article you find to be totally uneditable, and you can nominate for deletion any that you discover to be copyright violations or completely unintelligible. If you need help deciding what to do, please contact any of the coordinators.

Thank you for participating in the January 2012 drive! All contributions are appreciated. Our next copy edit drive will be in March.

Asexuality article

A new editor added back the flag and material about it. Only bad sources are present, like last time, and WP:REFPUNCT (punctuation before, not after, the references) is absent. The only reason I didn't revert is because I'm sure that a revert war will ensue...and being engaged in a revert war with new users (meaning users who don't understand how Wikipedia works) is the worse. The user isn't even all that new; he or she is clearly aware that the flag was removed and why. Could be User:Violet Fae, for all I know.

Anyway, what do you think I should do in this case? In the case of a revert war where one of the users is right to revert, are they right to keep reverting...in the sense that the material is vandalism, in a way, or essentially unsourced material? Should there only be one revert and then a report filed against the user if the user continues to add poorly sourced material to the article? What I hate about these cases is that if you take it to an administrator or administrative noticeboard, it is likely to be treated as only a content dispute. A bit of mentoring perhaps?

Hi, I'm looking for a bit of mentoring. My near-term wikipedia goal is to create a portal for Asbestos (along the lines of the Tobacco portal) but I am using the copy edit drive and the wikify drives to boost my programming chops. I am also have fun editing a wide variety of articles in areas that are very different for me. Hi Tea with toast, I want to start helping out with editing here. I've been a long time user of Wikipedia and have started reading some of the information on policies and how to edit. I saw your name on the Guild of Copyeditors page and thought you might be able to give some tips on how to get started and where to find other helpful stuff for editors. I know that I can help out with copyediting but would like to eventually get involved in more areas. Any info/advice you have would be greatly appreciated. GOCE March 2012 Backlog Elimination progress graphs

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 Backlog elimination drive! Here's the mid-drive newsletter.

Participation: We have had 58 people sign up for this drive so far, which compares favorably with our last drive, and 27 have copy-edited at least one article. If you have signed up but have not yet copy-edited any articles, please consider doing so. Every bit helps! If you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Join us!

Progress report: Our _target of completing the 2010 articles has almost been reached, with only 56 remaining of the 194 we had at the start of the drive. The last ones are always the most difficult, so thank you if you are able to help copy-edit any of the remaining articles. We have reduced the total backlog by 163 articles so far.

Special thanks: Special thanks to Stfg, who has been going through the backlog and doing some preliminary vetting of the articles—removing copyright violations, doing initial clean-up, and nominating some for deletion. This work has helped make the drive a more pleasant experience for all our volunteers.

GOCE March 2012 Backlog Elimination progress graph

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 Backlog elimination drive! This is the most successful drive we have had for quite a while. Here is your end-of-drive wrap-up newsletter.

Participation

Of the 70 people who signed up for this drive, 40 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Special acknowledgement goes out to Lfstevens, who did over 200 articles, most of them in the last third of the drive, and topped all three leaderboard categories. You're a superstar! Stfg and others have been pre-checking the articles for quality and conformance to Wikipedia guidelines; some have been nominated for deletion or had some preliminary clean-up done to help make the copy-edit process more fun and appealing. Thanks to all who helped get those nasty last few articles out of the _target months.

Progress report

During this drive we were successful in eliminating our _target months—October, November, and December 2010—from the queue, and have now eliminated all the 2010 articles from our list. We were able to complete 500 articles this month! End-of-drive results and barnstar information can be found here.

When working on the backlog, please keep in mind that there are options other than copy-editing available; some articles may be candidates for deletion, or may not be suitable for copy-editing at this time for other reasons. The {{GOCEreviewed}} tag can be placed on any article you find to be totally uneditable, and you can nominate for deletion any that you discover to be copyright violations or completely unintelligible. If you need help deciding what to do, please contact any of the coordinators.

Progress report: We're on track to meet our _targets for the drive, largely due to the efforts of Lfstevens and the others on the leaderboard. Thanks to all. We have reduced our _target group of articles—January, February, and March 2011—by over half, and it looks like we will achieve that goal. Good progress is being made on the overall backlog as well, with over 500 articles copy-edited during the drive so far. The total backlog currently sits at around 3200 articles.

Hall of Fame: GOCE coordinator Diannaa was awarded a spot in the GOCE Hall of Fame this month! She has copy-edited over 1567 articles during these drives, and surpassed the 1,000,000-word mark on May 5. On to the second million! – Your drive coordinators: Dank,Diannaa and Stfg

Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

Progress report: We were once again successful in our primary goal—removing the oldest three months from the backlog—while removing 1166 articles from the queue, the second-most in our history. The total backlog currently sits at around 2600 articles, down from 8323 when we started out just over two years ago.

Coodinator election: The six-month term for our third tranche of Guild coordinators will be expiring at the end of June. We will be accepting nominations for the fourth tranche of coordinators, who will also serve a six-month term. Nominations will open starting on June 5. Touro University California GAN Review Fail

Dear Tea with toast, I wanted to thank you for your thorough feedback on this page. I have since added more content to the article to try and improve the page in the many ways you specified. I would appreciate it if you could reevaluate the page at your earliest convenience. Thank you. Sincerely TylerDurden8823 (talk) 01:53, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

I don't understand what you mean about the references. I ran the references through the citation style machine that comes up with linkrot. I don't know what more you're asking for. Also, if it is the inaugural class, that implies that it is the first year it was operating, right? I thought that was unambiguous and would be interpreted as the first class in 1997 when it was established but I made a slight revision to try to make that clearer. Part of the problem with supplying all of the information you're asking for (which I know is not a reason to make it a good article) is that information on this university is difficult to come by. Can you be a bit more specific about what more about the campus description you want to know? After reviewing your original GA review it looks like I covered the essential components to me and the majority of the other additions. I can't find information about the library or specific information about the exact number of faculty and students performing research if that's what you mean. Regarding the clinical education aspect of the article, I can probably address this portion of the article later as I don't believe Touro's website has current information on it at the moment but will in the near future. Keep the suggestions coming I would like to continue to improve the article. Can you clarify about the citations exactly what is lacking?TylerDurden8823 (talk) 02:50, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

Would you be willing to reassess the article? Not for good article status, I don't think it's ready for that just yet but I think it's probably ready to be upgraded to a B on the quality scale. Let me know on my talk page, thanks!TylerDurden8823 (talk) 02:56, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Dear Tea with Toast, I had another editor explain exactly what the problem with the references section was and how to fix it. I believe I have remedied the problem as there are no more bare links/URLs in the references section as far as I can tell. Can you take another quick look and see if you can identify any other problems or things to work on and give me your impression of where the article currently stands? Thanks! TylerDurden8823 (talk) 02:32, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
Any thoughts?TylerDurden8823 (talk) 09:05, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
If you're not interested in reviewing the article any longer can you at least let me know one way or the other please? It's cool either way but I just want to know if you're still helping me or not. If you're busy with other things I'll seek out help elsewhere. TylerDurden8823 (talk) 07:42, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

GOCE July 2012 Copy Edit Drive

Invitation from the Guild of Copy Editors

The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their July 2012 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. Anna Akhmatova

Thanks for taking the time to review the Anna article. Much appreciated. Best wishes Span (talk) 21:22, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Maus GA

Hi, I've fixed the broken link in Maus. The only "problematic" link remaining is one that CheckLinks says requires registration, but actually doesn't.

Thanks for taking the time to look the article over! CüRlyTüRkeyTalkContribs 23:17, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Women's national football team GAs

Hi. I'm not ignoring things... I will try to get to work on both reviews later today Aussie time. Might not get to it for another 12 hours though. : / --LauraHale (talk) 21:57, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

Oh, don't worry about it; there's no rush. I'm pretty busy myself these days. Holds are generally for about 1 week, but I can allow more time if you (and I) are busy. --Tea with toast (話) 13:54, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
I think I've addressed them but a lot of it is hard to clarify. The articles are really short because there isn't much written about the topic and some of it is hard to explain more with wandering into OR or SYNTH. --LauraHale(talk) 20:47, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Television in Croatia GA review

Hi! Thanks for reviewing GA nomination of the Television in Croatia article. I tried to address concerns raised in your review and I trust the article is in a better shape overall now. Thanks for volunteering your time!--Tomobe03(talk) 20:07, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
