Speedy deletion notification

edit

A tag has been placed on Adam Pollock, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Ar-wiki 18:21, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello, TheProzacKid. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions!

I'm Nøkkenbuer, one of the other editors here, and I hope you decide to stay and help contribute to this amazing repository of knowledge. I understand that this welcome is over a decade overdue, but in the Wikipedia community's defense, many of these welcoming templates didn't even exist back then and the culture was much different. WikiProject Editor Retention didn't even exist as a page until July 2012! Anyway, despite this belated welcome, I hope the following information assists you.

Some pages of helpful information to get you started:
    Introduction to Wikipedia
    The five pillars of Wikipedia
    Editing tutorial
    How to edit a page
    Simplified Manual of Style
    The basics of Wikicode
    How to develop an article
    How to create an article

Some common sense Dos and Don'ts:
    Do be bold
    Do assume good faith
    Do be civil
    Do keep cool!
Do maintain a neutral point of view
    Don't spam
    Don't infringe copyright
Don't edit where you have a conflict of interest
    Don't commit vandalism
    Don't get blocked

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
    Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
    Help contribute to articles
    Perform maintenance tasks

Become a member of a project that interests you
    Help design new templates
Subscribe and contribute to The Signpost

Remember to always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the   button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to this page (your talk page), and a timestamp. Also, please be sure to add descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.

The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun! To get some practice editing, you can use a sandbox. You can also create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then, for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

Watchmen are Crimebusters?

edit

Hey TheProzacKid, I noticed that you edited the Watchmen (film) article to change one of the instances of "Watchmen" to "Crimebusters" in the "Plot" section, the same kind of edit you also did over three years ago in in January 2015. Firstly, any such claim needs to be supported by reliable sources, which is the wiki way on Wikipedia. Keep in mind that it generally cannot be a user-generated source, such as Wikia, Comic Vine, or (yes, even!) Wikipedia. I can explain more on why if you want, but Wikipedia's policy on verifiability is a good place to start. Secondly, you may be technically correct when it comes to Moore's comic series, which may be a better place to add a reliably sourced addition; however, I don't recall the Crimebusters being called as such in the film, which is the article you edited. In fact, from what I'm seeing after doing some web searching, it seems one of the (many) complaints about the film among the more avid Watchmen fans is this very error!

This may be frustrating, but this is a frustration best reserved for the film and those who developed it rather than the Wikipedia article for faithfully summarizing it or editors for protecting that faithful summary. I hope you understand where I'm coming from. If you want any help with editing, feel free to ask either me or at some of these venues. —Nøkkenbuer (talkcontribs) 04:01, 20 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

After doing some research, I found a sufficiently reliable source to verify this difference between the series and movie, so I added it to the article in the same exact place you did. I hope that is satisfactory. While searching for this source, I also found some other sources that discuss the differences between the film and the comic series, which I may use to improve the article further when I have the time (I have a lot on my immediate to-do list right now). Again, if you ever want any help with editing, feel free to ask me. Thanks for your interest in improving Wikipedia! —Nøkkenbuer (talkcontribs) 04:45, 20 August 2018 (UTC); edited at 04:49, 20 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
