Gourmand Cookbook Award

edit

I came across this award reviewing a draft and it appears to be a notable award mentioned in several articles. Thought you might be interested in creating an article. See also es:Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. S0091 (talk) 16:09, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hm, it has an entry in 8 language wikis. Definitely seems worth investigating, thanks! Valereee (talk) 17:37, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Palestine-Israel articles 5 updates

edit

You are receiving this message because you are on the update list for Palestine-Israel articles 5. The drafters note that the scope of the case was somewhat unclear, and clarify that the scope is The interaction of named parties in the WP:PIA topic area and examination of the WP:AE process that led to two referrals to WP:ARCA. Because this was unclear, two changes are being made:

First, the Committee will accept submissions for new parties for the next three days, until 23:59, 10 December 2024 (UTC). Anyone who wishes to suggest a party to the case may do so by creating a new section on the evidence talk page, providing a reason with WP:DIFFS as to why the user should be added, and notifying the user. After the three-day period ends, no further submission of parties will be considered except in exceptional circumstances. Because the Committee only hears disputes that have failed to be resolved by the usual means, proposed parties should have been recently taken to AE/AN/ANI, and either not sanctioned, or incompletely sanctioned. If a proposed party has not been taken to AE/AN/ANI, evidence is needed as to why such an attempt would have been ineffective.

Second, the evidence phase has been extended by a week, and will now close at 23:59, 21 December 2024 (UTC). For the Arbitration Committee, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 03:20, 8 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

I saw you had involved yourself in this fest, hopefully something useful will come of it. If you haven't seen Wikipedia and the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, you might find it interesting. I'm usually pretty reluctant to get involved at arbcom, especially when I'm ignorant in general about the subject area and sources. But this is an area where I try to help out, both because I'm not interested in writing about it and because so few admins want to work there. Thanks for the links, I'll take a look! Hi, I'll do the job at 8:00 pm (Italian time). JacktheBrown (talk) 09:23, 19 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Part of the Italian translation is this, although it needs to be double-checked:

A diciotto lavorò a Londra.

Fu anche giudice in reality show televisivi come Bake Off Italia.

JacktheBrown (talk) 18:47, 19 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much, Jack! I didn't actually intend you to do an entire translation, more just do a copyedit of the Italian machine translation, this represents so much more than I intended to ask for. I've added the article at it.wiki at Gabriel Bonci. Valereee (talk) 13:10, 22 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
You're welcome, it was a pleasure. The translation is literal, so some phrases lack of, I don't know how to explain it, "liveliness".
Note: there's a small mistake you made when you pasted the translation (which isn't present here): "Nel 2003 ha aperto Pizzarium Bonci vicinovicino" (there are two "vicino"). JacktheBrown (talk) 13:23, 22 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Got it, thanks! I've fixed.
I understand what you are saying about lacking liveliness. In English, we might say 'the prose is flat'? That's no problem, I'm sure someone on it.wiki will eventually come along and make it sing. Valereee (talk) 13:39, 22 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Season's Greetings

  Season's Greetings

When he took up his hat to go, he gave one long look round the library. Then he turned ... (and Saxon took advantage of this to wag his way in and join the party), and said, "It's a rare privilege, the free entry of a book chamber like this. I'm hoping ... that you are not insensible of it."

Empress Theatre (Cincinnati)

edit

Hi Valereee, Merry Christmas! What about to create an article on the former Empress Theatre on 814 Vine Street, Cincinnati. What I found as an information here is controversial, but I hope you may have more info. My data is the following:

Built in 1846 as a Presbyterian Church, it later became the Vine Street Congregational Church. The New Empress Theatre was opened December 27, 1909 presenting vaudeville, burlesque and by 1912 film were also part of the program. By 1917 films were the major part of the program. It seated 300 and closed in 1929. On March 12, 1937 it was renamed Gayety Theatre featuring burlesque and movies. The site is now an office building.

Here is more info. Jingiby (talk) 08:20, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hey, Jingiby! Merry Christmas to you, too! Hm...I hadn't thought about whether that building might be notable, but yeah, it's possible. I probably won't have time today or tomorrow to do any research, have houseguests in and more expected, but I'll take a look once things get back to normal here! I'm originally from a foreign country

edit

Hi Valereee, thanks for the direction. I am originally from Taiwan. I actually moved here in 2010. I will provide three (only that many) significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of me. Do they have to be in English? If other language is acceptable, will Chinese be okay? Allpeoplearepeopleofcolor (talk) 18:31, 28 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Allpeoplearepeopleofcolor, Wikipedia is a worldwide project, so the concept of a "foreign country" does not really exist in regards to English Wikipedia editing. English language sources are preferred when available, but sources in any language are allowed. Please be aware that writing a successful autobiography is exceptionally difficult and the vast majority of people who try do not succeed, especially inexperienced editors. Our standards are very high. Cullen328 (talk) 18:40, 28 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have come to understand the high standards which are absolutely merited. Thank you. Allpeoplearepeopleofcolor (talk) 18:46, 28 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
As long as we can access the sources and translate them, non-English sources are fine. Valereee (talk) 19:52, 28 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
