I came across this award reviewing a draft and it appears to be a notable award mentioned in several articles. Thought you might be interested in creating an article. See also es:Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. S0091 (talk) 16:09, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hm, it has an entry in 8 language wikis. Definitely seems worth investigating, thanks! Valereee (talk) 17:37, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi Valereee, Merry Christmas! What about to create an article on the former Empress Theatre on 814 Vine Street, Cincinnati. What I found as an information here is controversial, but I hope you may have more info. My data is the following:
Built in 1846 as a Presbyterian Church, it later became the Vine Street Congregational Church. The New Empress Theatre was opened December 27, 1909 presenting vaudeville, burlesque and by 1912 film were also part of the program. By 1917 films were the major part of the program. It seated 300 and closed in 1929. On March 12, 1937 it was renamed Gayety Theatre featuring burlesque and movies. The site is now an office building.
Here is more info. Jingiby (talk) 08:20, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hey, Jingiby! Merry Christmas to you, too! Hm...I hadn't thought about whether that building might be notable, but yeah, it's possible. I probably won't have time today or tomorrow to do any research, have houseguests in and more expected, but I'll take a look once things get back to normal here! I'm originally from a foreign country
editHi Valereee, thanks for the direction. I am originally from Taiwan. I actually moved here in 2010. I will provide three (only that many) significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of me. Do they have to be in English? If other language is acceptable, will Chinese be okay? Allpeoplearepeopleofcolor (talk) 18:31, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Allpeoplearepeopleofcolor, Wikipedia is a worldwide project, so the concept of a "foreign country" does not really exist in regards to English Wikipedia editing. English language sources are preferred when available, but sources in any language are allowed. Please be aware that writing a successful autobiography is exceptionally difficult and the vast majority of people who try do not succeed, especially inexperienced editors. Our standards are very high. Cullen328 (talk) 18:40, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- I have come to understand the high standards which are absolutely merited. Thank you. Allpeoplearepeopleofcolor (talk) 18:46, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- As long as we can access the sources and translate them, non-English sources are fine. Valereee (talk) 19:52, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Valereee, Sorry for the late reply as I am recovering from a cold. I have begun to re-discover myself. It may take a while before I can deliver the three resources over for your evaluation. As for how to deliver, are there any other ways besides links? Wish you a wonderful new year ahead, and thank you for your advices! Allpeoplearepeopleofcolor (talk) 18:48, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- Other than emailing me links, you mean? I can't think of any way offhand. Valereee (talk) 19:50, 31 December 2024 (UTC)

PespicazHistorian
editHi @Valereee, Hope you are doing well.
I respect your judgement in the enforcement discussion. Please consider my request of not being blocked.
1)The enforcement was for editwarring, which I improved and there is rarely any case of me edit warring (now, I first discuss issues on article talk pages)
2) I corrected my mistake of not replying in my own statement section as pointed out by you, which shows my readiness to improve myself once corrected by other experienced editors.
3) I corrected my mistake of not adding tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of my comments, as pointed out by @Toddy1 in my talk page. This again shows my willingness to improve.
4) I was labelled as using Raj era sources, but I have in many instances created/edited and expanded contentious articles where my inputs were appreciated. Just as an example, my edits on Baji Rao II were appreciated by @Revirvlkodlaku.
5)As mentioned in the enforcement that I was blocked for editwarring previously, but if seen thoroughly, that was due to sockpuppets. At that time, I did not know that it's Important to get the sock blocked first through an SPI. I corrected my mistake by not editwarring @私は日本が大好きです and getting him blocked first.
6)@Vanamonde93 @Bishonen. I accept, I must have done some mistakes for admins to consider blocking me. I could have annoyed you by not replying in my own section. But please do not block me, I will contribute to the space in good faith. I will keep getting better and better.
Yours Truly --PPicazHist (talk) 10:21, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- @PerspicazHistorian, no one would block you for not replying in your own section or not using tildes to sign. These are simply additional examples of the fact you don't seem very motivated to learn how we do things here on Wikipedia. The much bigger problem is things like apparently not understanding what represents a reliable source, and then of course the edit warring over that, which as you point out is what got you to AE. If you hadn't been doing that in a contentious topic, people would likely be much more patient with you not working very hard to learn policy. Valereee (talk) 11:23, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- But I promise, like I have not engaged in any edit war recently, I will only add reliable sources and always discuss reliability on talk pages. PPicazHist (talk) 12:49, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
Welcome to the 2025 WikiCup!
editHappy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2025 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page.
For the 2025 WikiCup, we've implemented several changes to the scoring system. The highest-ranking contestants will now receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are now open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants will no longer be eliminated at the end of each round.
The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), Frostly (talk · contribs · email), Guerillero (talk · contribs · email) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs · email). Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
