License tagging for Image:NS HWY 201.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:NS HWY 201.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 05:08, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Global Warming

Hi Verne, I was reading the article on Peak Oil - which is excellent and followed the link to global warming and was very surprised that that article did not refer to peak oil at least in passing.

I've added a section with some basic facts effectively inviting readers of global warming to visit peak oil to find out more. I don't know why some of the global warming evangelists are being so upetty about it, but I'd welcome some support88.110.38.52 22:13, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:S&Ytvweek.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:S&Ytvweek.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. The Bells

Good to see an article on The Bells (group) finally appear. I did consider creating it a couple of weeks ago, but then I forgot about it. "Stay Awhile" was my favorite song back when it came out. Dzubint 15:48, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

thanks for the pointer to CBC's "Go"...it starts in about ten minutes where I am and I'll be sure to listen. Dzubint 16:53, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
thanks again... Go was great with the usual Canadian hit songs, but yeah, I haven't heard Fly Little White Dove Fly in a loooong time Dzubint 19:16, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Moebiusuibeom - happy to help out! I found the article to be very interesting. I would be pleased to help you with some of your other work, but I tend to be choosy. Planning I enjoy - sports I don't! Best wishes! Verne Equinox 23:56, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Verne Equinox - great, we're on the same track, I'll keep in touch, Cheers, Moebiusuibeom 13:17, 22 February 2007 (UTC).

Hello Equinox - sorry to be back so soon but I have to rearrange and change some info in one paragraph and have some difficulties getting it right, could you please revise the following:

Ciudad Jardín, inaugurated in 1944, was conceived by Doctor Erich Zeyen, a German emigrant who arrived in 1929 with the idea of creating a Garden City that offered a balance of urban life with green spaces, a city within a city. In 1943, he commissioned the influential Argentinean professor of engineering, Carlos M. Della Paolera, founder of “Día Mundial del Urbanismo” (World Urbanism Day), to undertake studies for the layout of the city. Ciudad Jardín has been recognized and mentioned in publications on urban planning on a world-wide level.

Kind regards, Moebiusuibeom 16:27, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

That reads fine. Based on what you say however, I don't think it would be a good idea to have the professor praising his own work. Instead, you could say (second last sentence): Carlos M. Della Paolera has declared Ciudad Jardín to be the first Garden City in South America. - you should provide a citation here, as well. Verne Equinox 13:59, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi there, sorry of you found my edits a little hasty its just I often patrol the newpages and clenaup articles which need attention, however there was only a little what I needed to do with that one compared to the amount of cleanup some others need! AfD nomination of Esmée Denters

I've nominated Esmée Denters, an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Esmée Denters satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Esmée Denters and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Esmée Denters during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you.RJASE1 Talk 08:27, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Philately stubs

I noticed that you have removed the stub tags from a number of philatelic articles like, Aerogram, Basel Dove and Collectors Club of New York‎. Why would you think these are no longer stubs when they are rather short and still need fleshing out? I think the stub is appropriate for the amount of information they currently contain. Cheers ww2censor 23:50, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

From time to time I go through long stub lists to winnow them down, as I find that many editors seem loathe to remove stub tags long after the articles can no longer be considered stubs. My method is to look at the article - see if it is referenced, maybe if it has a picture, and if it looks like somebody actually took time to organize the information. If it meets these criteria, I consider it no longer a stub. In the cases you cite, that was the judgement I made. Let's face it - even in Encyclopedia Britannica, not every article requires a 1,000 word essay. That is the case with Wikipedia too. If you disagree, go ahead and revert (careful though, I have done some minor copy edits as well). Thanks for asking ! Verne Equinox 00:01, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
OK, I happen to know these topics and think some need more details but understand what you are saying. Yes, some articles can be fairly complete though short. Thanks, Cheers ww2censor 00:04, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
You might want to look at Aerogram - I removed this sentence "These aerograms can be sent abroad however, there is yet doubt as to they can be sent within the U.K itself" as I simply cound not make sense of it. Cheers! Verne Equinox 00:13, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Makes sense to me but, just the other day, I was trying to find the current data on this situation which is quite clear. Normally an aerogram is sent abroad but it may not be allowable to use it in the domestic mail system of the UK. ww2censor 02:25, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
I think there is a 'whether' missing. Verne Equinox 02:28, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

I will leave it out until I find a ref to the domestic use situation in the UK. I'm sure you will be happy with that. Cheers ww2censor 02:35, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thanks for your compliment re: my work on Tovah Feldshuh . . . I really appreciate your taking the time to write. P.S. Better late than never - welcome to Wikipedia! SFTVLGUY2 13:53, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Eames Lounge Chair

When I compared the Eames Lounge Chair to the Morris Chair, I meant it in the sense that they are the both the sort of classic lounge-type chair of their period, both in style, comfort, and massiveness. But, if you think that this is too much opinion, I'll gladly edit it out, as, though I know I've read it, I can't recall sources. Christopher Busta-Peck | Talk 17:43, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:AshleyMontague.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:AshleyMontague.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Spam in Humber Valley Resort

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Humber Valley Resort, by Pharmboy (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Humber Valley Resort is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Humber Valley Resort, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Reference tables in Espionage

The tables do make for easier reading, but have you considered what should be in the entries? For example, the British SOE was not principally an espionage organization, but an unconventional warfare/guerilla support, and Direct Action, force. Some other works, such as Kahn's The Codebreakers, do include espionage communications, but espionage isn't their main thrust.

I assume that a table can't pick up footnotes, correct? Is there a general Wikipedia policy on reading lists of material that aren't actual references in the article? I was under the impression this was somewhat discouraged. Howard C. Berkowitz (talk) 20:41, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I have been thinking about what should be in the list but I don't plan to be the arbiter. I do plan to prepare a preamble. The key reason I wanted to do the tables is because - in spy literature as in science the date of publication is highly relevant - one book tends to build on the other. Not that older material is no longer relevant, but the new material should offer the most up-to-date information. As for reading lists, many modern encyclopedias offer further reading lists, so I feel a list in an overview article such as this is entirely valid. I am not aware of the footnote problem as I haven't tried it. Verne Equinox (talk) 14:30, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading Image:EdinburghWaterfront.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 04:20, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:SaintJohnRegionalHospital.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:SaintJohnRegionalHospital.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 03:07, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
