Preston & Cherrybrook, Nova Scotia - and other "communities" in HRM
editI just came across the article Preston & Cherrybrook, Nova Scotia which you started way back in 2007. It's unreferenced and my attempt at finding anything to support that this is a real thing have only turned up the graphic at Musquodoboit Valley & Dutch Settlement, Nova Scotia which mentions Preston / Cherrybrook / Lake Loon / Lake Major. I can find nothing at Canadian Geographical Names or Community Councils]. I'm thinking maybe it is just outdated? Possibly all the other 'community areas' listed in Template:Halifax, Nova Scotia need attention too? having read your User page I figure you are probably well placed to figure out what to do with this. Derek Andrews (talk) 11:32, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
- The areas are the HRM planning areas, it was an early attempt to bring some kind of post amalgamation order to the communities. Since I made those pages they have slide sideways from being about the planning areas to being more about the component communities of the areas. I am not going to defend these at this time, but putting 220 communities in the template would be a bit much. Here is the link to the planning areas on HRMs site: http://www.halifax.ca/planning/communityplans.php WayeMason (talk) 23:31, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, and apologies if my question seemed critical, it wasn't intended that way. Derek Andrews (talk) 13:43, 10 October 2015 (UTC)
- No, sorry if I sounded defensive. I really don't think that the choice was particularly good or right, it was expedient. That is what I mean by not going to defend - I am not sure it is a good choice, or the best choice! WayeMason (talk) 15:07, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
- I (re)learned during the election that the entire group of African Nova Scotian communities is referred to as the "Preston Townships". I think now that I am out of conflict of interest in HRM edits, I'll try to create an updated framework for all this. WayeMason (talk) 14:21, 28 October 2024 (UTC)

editHi, This image was seemingly uploaded prior to current image polices, Thank you.
However, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure all media on English Wikipedia is correctly licensed and attributed it would be appreciated if you were able to confirm, that it was your own work, by marking it as {{own}}, amending the {{information}} added by a third party, and by changing the license to an appropriate "self" variant. You can also add |claimed=yes
to the {{media by uploader}} tag if it is present to indicate that you've acknowledged the image, and license shown (and updated the {{information}} where appropriate).

New 10,000 Challenge for Canada
editHi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile! Cheers. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:55, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

Template:Communities of Bedford/Sackville
editIs Template:Communities of Bedford/Sackville the best name for this template? You have now a link to a disambiguation page in the template title. And the title is strange anyway. The Banner talk 12:27, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
- I struggled with that one, Bedford Sackville is what that area is called, I went with the name that is used in other wikipedia articles and in municipal planning documents. See:
- The disambiguation page is unfortunate, I will probably fix that later, either with a Sackville article or a Bedford/Sackville article. WayeMason (talk) 13:36, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
- I have unlinked Sackville, to prevent the template showing up in maintenance lists. You can add a link when there is an article. I have also changed the name of the template, naming it now "Template:Communities of the Bedford/Sackville Area", what seems to be your intention. The Banner talk 19:11, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
- Both of those work, thank you WayeMason (talk) 01:58, 29 December 2016 (UTC)

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}

Kings County, CBRM
editFinally got to your Kings work - looks good, though I did update a number of citations to the 2016 Census (numbers quoted were from the 2016 census, but the links in the references were to the 2006 or 2011 ones.) As for CBRM, it's clear that a couple of other people have gone over it pretty thoroughly since you worked on it. I also feel like it's a political football I'm woefully unqualified to play with. Conflict about (for example) economic projections, and the way the economy is presented, with regards to word choice, is just something I don't have the ability to get at. Unlike you, I'm not excluded from discussions in the HRM, and if I (ha!) have time, that's where I might be willing to get into a fight for something I think is better. Thanks for making these two better, though! AshleyMorton (talk) 03:14, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hah I just go back to CBRM and strip out the overt, uncited negativity every 3-6 months, it's all you can do, really. HRM page is a mess, makes my palms itch to tear it apart again and restructure it, but I will resist. Thanks for taking the time on the King's one and happy holidays! From Wikipedia:Moving a page, "Do not move or rename a page by copying/pasting its content, because doing so fragments the edit history. Instead, please follow the instructions given below." and Help:Page history#Moved and deleted pages. I've put everything back for now and will move it properly. - I guess, the problem for me is there was no way to delete the redirect page, and when I looked at the history there were 5 entries, your original post and no real edits. I didn't see an issue, but fine if you can set it straight. WayeMason (talk) 23:44, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
