Wikipedians from Delhi/NCR area are meeting on 15th January 2012 to discuss, share experiences, reach out and advocate for Wikipedia and Wikimedia. One of the main agenda of this meetup is to celebrate the 11th Anniversary of Wikipedia.

Post-meetup summary/Blogs/News

12 people including few existing Wikipedians joined this meetup. Hisham updated them on the variety of new programs that Wikimedia is doing in India. There was a student from IIT and another from Jamia. Both have expressed interest in organizing meetups, editathons and maybe a hackathon for their college LUGs. It is expected to hear from them by next week and something can be done before this month ends. There were also people from advanced research organizations and such. They have expressed interest in helping expand and network to build a strong community in Delhi. Mitra (User: MittyKomon) is a new editor who expressed interest in going to Jaipur literary festival and perhaps doing some outreach or at least getting photographs of all the celebrated literary figures coming there.

A cake was cut to celebrate the Wikipedia turns 11 and part of the celebration in India. There was a google hangout with wiki communities in , Bangalore, Cuttack, Kolkata, Mumbai and student volunteers of the Wikipedia Club Pune. Totally 6 cities; Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Cuttack, Kolkata, Mumbai and Wikimedia club at Pune have celebrated this event.

Plans

• Monthly meetup in Delhi.
• Coordination with Shobhana during education programs.
• Conducting a technical outreach session in IIT, Delhi.
• Outreach in Jamia Milia with support from the two attendees in Computer Science department.
• Plan for Delhi takes Wikipedia.
