Some of the attendees of the 2023 NYC Wikipedia Day meetup with the WIKICAKE.

Part celebration and part conference, the Wikipedia Day NYC 22nd Birthday Bash was held on Sunday, January 15, 2023, 1-5pm at Jefferson Market Library in Greenwich Village, hosted by Wikimedia NYC. One of a number of Wikipedia Days worldwide, the day featured keynote presentations, breakout group discussions, lightning talks and yes, cake. Wikimedia NYC was especially happy to see newcomers join experienced Wikipedians/Wikimedians on this day.

The day was also an observation of Public Domain Day and mentioned works entering Public Domain this new year!

We also had a social gathering in the evening, after the library event closed.

All attendees are subject to Wikimedia NYC's Code of Conduct. In addition, to participate in person you should be vaccinated and also be sure to respect others' personal space, and we may limit overall attendance size if appropriate. New York Public Library encourages the wearing of masks when indoors, and especially be mindful of those in your proximity.

Lightning talks

edit

Add your 3-5 minute lightning talk here! Lightning talks may cover a wide range of topics related to Wikipedia, Wikimedia, and the larger free culture movement. They don't even have to mention Wikipedia! However, we ask that lightning talks aren't used to promote or sell products and services. We have space on the schedule for ~10 lightning talks, we may have to institute a cut-off after that.
