Note that Seddon indefinitely blocked Copyedeye awhile ago for abusing multiple accounts. Nathan T 22:58, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, let's go for close, so. I consider that account highly   Likely to be a sock - Alison 23:45, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Just noticed "The common interest in the Gary Weiss BLP is especially of note." It is. I stumbled upon that BLP while vandal patrolling via Huggle. A persistent IP was adding unsourced negative text, and was blocked upon my report. The sock that authored this report is probably that IP or otherwise involved. Suspected sockpuppets

I would like to request a sockpuppet investigation for IP address 173.63.176.93 and 74.88.160.244 which I believe may be socks for blocked user ScottyBerg. I've been keeping an eye on both IPs, and the language is eeerily similar. Without good reason, both keep undoing my corrective edits in the "Chinatown, Manhattan" article citing the same old original research as their source. I've been keeping an eye on both IPs, and I feel that my suspicions are enough to warrant this request. When I suggested to SysAdmin Alison that she investigate 173.63.176.93 for a possible sock, 74.88.160.244 jumps into the argument and ask that such an investigation be called off, and then accusing me of pro-San Francisco propaganda which is ludicrous. If I were to state that Tokyo is a cleaner city than New York(which is a fact), he'd probably accuse me of pro-Tokyo proaganda as well. As a matter of fact, 74.88.160.244 was in a rush to make his concerns noticed by posting it in the "edit summary" box for undoing my edits, instead of addressing the issue properly on Alison's talk page. If 173.63.176.93 is NOT ScottyBerg, then he shouldn't be concerned about the pending outcome of any investigations. In addition to the similar language of both users to ScottyBerg, as well as 74.88.160.244 making it clear he doesn't want another sock investigation on ScottyBerg and 173.63.176.93, here are my other suspicions: 1. Why is 74.88.160.244 suddenly worried about a possible ScottyBerg sock investigation? Neither 173.63.176.93 or 74.88.160.244 should be concerned if they are who they are, and not ScottyBerg. 2. The history log of both IPs didn't even exist until shortly after ScottyBerg was blocked in Jannuary of this year. His last consistent edit occured around January 6, 2012. 74.88.160.244's history log began on exactly that same date. WHAT A COINCIDENCE! The history log of 173.63.176.93 commenced a little later on May 30, 2012. 3. I did an nslookup, and found that 74.88.160.244 and 173.63.176.93 are located in Fair Lawn, NJ and Westwood, NJ respectively. Both towns are within 5 miles of each other. Oh, I forgot about IP 96.242.217.91, also in Fair Lawn, NJ. All three IPS are making the same pro-NY edits in the NY-related articles. Finally, I did a lookup on people named Scotty Berg/Scott Berg in New Jersey, and only 5 people with that name are listed there- one being in Fair Lawn! There's a good chance that its not him. It could be somebody who knows him and is using his name as his Wiki handle. I was also told by a friend in NJ that "Berg" is the shorthand form for Bergen County. There is obvious sockpuppetting going on, as all 3 IPS are definitely related. The fact that they don't want to see a ScottyBerg investigation(see "Chinatown, Manhattan" article's history log) is also highly suspicious. MBaxter1 (talk) 20:55, 9 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've just found something very peculiar. Do a CTRL-F search in "Chinatown, Manhttan" article history log for all occurrences of "ScottyBerg"(matanmoreland), and scroll back through the log. Notice that whenever a "ScottyBerg" edit(s) pop up, it is often preceded by a series or clusters of 96.242.217.91's edits. This occurs quite frequently throughout the log. 96.242.217.91 was also under investigation in 2010, and is still currently marked by the investigating SysAdmin as a possible sockpuppet concern. Based on my preliminary research, it seems that traffic by 96.242.217.91 increased significantly from the time that he was first blocked., until the log creation of 74.88.160.244 on Jan. 6, 2012, the same date as ScottyBerg's 2nd to last edit under blockage. Traffic of 96.242.217.91 then decreases slightly at this point. It decreases just a tad more after log creation of 173.63.176.93. Well, that's all I can find right now. There's probably more, but where to look? That's the problem. MBaxter1 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 20:41, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE: Some more suspicious evidence connecting all 3 ips to ScottyBerg/ Mantanmoreland... 1. January 6, 2012, the only time that both 74.88.160.244 and ScottyBerg make edits on the same day. Both edits are within an hour of each other. This is very suspicious, since 74.88.160.244 only has a total of 8 edits in his history dating back to January 6, 2012. Only 8 edits, and one of them conincides with ScottyBerg! Definitely ties 74.88.160.244 to ScottyBerg. 2. One of 74.88.160.244's 8 total edits IS on "Talk: New York City". An article that ScottyBerg also edited. This also ties 74.88.160.244 to ScottyBerg. 3. 96.242.217.91's edit stops for some reason on March 30, 2012, the same date that 173.63.176.93 makes its first historical edit on WP. This, I think, ties 173.63.176.93 to ScottyBerg/Matanmoreland, and ultimately all 4 together.MBaxter1 (talk)

SysAdmin- Please do an IP location check of Matanmoreland/ScottyBerg against Thmc1(blocked in 2010). I think it's likley they're the same person. I've found similarities that would clearly show suspicion of connection between the two. Feb. 24, 2010- Thmc1 edits from 03:06-04:35. ScottyBerg's only edit during that time of the day is at 03:43. June 3, 2010- Thmc1 edits at 15:58. Next edit at 19:43. Between that time frame, ScottyBerg edits at 16:59-17:26. ScottyBerg's next edit is at 21:25. Between that time, Thmc1 edits from 19:13-19:25. They both also make edits between 00:20-01:10 the next day. On May 26, their edits are almost at identical hours. These kinds of co-incidences between the two are rampant throughout their logs. If found to be the same person, please note the connection on their talk pages, and revise Thmc1's block status to that of Matanmoreland's sockpuppet.MBaxter1 (talk)

Two of 74.88.160.244's other 8 total edits were used as a "surrogate" for 173.63.176.93 to reverse undo's against him:

17:18, 28 June 2012 (diff | hist) . . (+941)‎ . . Chinatown ‎ (Undid revision 499657782 by 67.115.155.107 (talk) vandalism vs sockpuppet - administrator, please investigate

96.242.217, 173.63.176.93, and Thmc1 have also all edited an article for one of the more obscure subjects(compared to, let's say "Chinatown, Manhattan". The following is taken from the history log of the "Non-resident Indian and Person of Indian Origin" article:
(cur | prev) 12:21, 22 July 2012‎ 173.63.176.93 (talk)‎ . . (74,674 bytes) (+1)‎ . . (→‎United Kingdom) (undo)

Although ScottyBerg doesn't make any edits to this article, he does edit various other ones related to Indians(India). Co-incidently, 4 of the 5 ids/ip's seem to have have some sort of vested interested in Indian culture.

All IPS, and and most likley users are traced back to the same community of several towns in Bergen County, NJ. All of these places are within 4-5 miles of each other. The fact that most of the recent activities in the articles mentioned above are coming from a small area roughly the size of Manhattan, but with 1/20th of the population(est. 50,000) is more than highly suspicious. It definitely connects them to each other. MBaxter1 (talk)

More New Evidence
edit

ScottyBerg acts as a surrogate to 96.242.217.91, basically rewording his own edit to re-enforce his argument of Manhattan's Chinatown being the largest in the western hemisphere:

12:49, 19 December 2011 (diff | hist) . . (-6)‎ . . Chinatown, Manhattan ‎ (sources agree that this is the largest Chinatown; "concentration" implies density of population)

Both 96.242.217.91 and 173.63.176.93 also spend a good amount of time editing on the Tappan Zee Bridge" article. Combined with the evidence above, this also connects the 3:

MusikAnimal(suspect) and 173.63.176.93's edits almost never seem to take place on the same day, but when they do it's usually within minutes of each other:
173.63.176.93:
03:08, 10 July 2012 (diff | hist) . . (-2)‎ . . New York metropolitan area
‎ MusikAnimal:
03:58, 10 July 2012 (diff | hist) . . (+242)‎ . . Animal Collective ‎ (→‎Merriweather Post Pavilion: This just screams the need for a citation)
173.63.176.93:
17:17, 8 July 2012 (diff | hist) . . (-21)‎ . . American Jews ‎ (→‎Significant Jewish population centers)
MusikAnimal:
17:19, 8 July 2012 (diff | hist) . . (+1)‎ . . Rape in the United States ‎ (→‎Rape statistics: Simple line break)

  • I ADDED MusikAnimal and Nyc88 to the list of possible socks for the following reasons: 1. Both are making the same kinds of edits in the Chinatown pages. MusikAnimal's history log was created on July 6, 2011. There were no edits by MusikAnimal from that point until 7 months later on February 6, 2012- 3 days after ScottyBerg's final edit(Feb. 3, 2012) under blockage! In the case of Nyc88, his log was created on July 4, 2010, one day after Thmc1 was permanently blocked(July 3, 2010). Both Thmc1 and Matandmoreland/ScottyBerg are definitely connected as the evience shows here.

  • Just found something else very interesing. The following was taken from the "Chinatown, Brooklyn" log. Here, 96.242.217.91 aids Nyc88(which I believe 100% to be blocked user Thmc1 based on their logs) and reverts an undo against Nyc88.

(cur | prev) 22:17, 23 May 2012‎ 96.242.217.91 (talk)‎ . . (25,678 bytes) (+3)‎ . . (reverted untrue interpretation) (undo)

This re-enforces my belief all along- that ScottyBerg/Matandmoreland and Thmc1 are the same person, and all of these pro-NY vandalisms are the work of one individual. I'm also collecting evidence against Nyc88 as a possible sockpuppet for Thmc1, and you wouldnt believe what I've found. About 95% of the individual articles that Nyc88 has edited was also edited by Thmc1.
