Royal Opera House editathon
Monica Mason and Jann Parry in conversation, 25 October 2014
Editors, 25 October 2014

The Royal Opera House and Wikimedia UK request your company at an editathon focusing on Kenneth MacMillan, a former director and principal choreographer at the Royal Opera House. Kindly hosted in the Amphitheatre Restaurant at the Royal Opera House in central London on Saturday 25 October 2014. Please sign up now and join us on the 25th.

The plan is to improve the coverage of Kenneth MacMillan and his works, some of which don't yet have articles on Wikipedia. We have a biography on him in eleven languages, but coverage of some of the people he worked with is weaker. As well as subject expertise and lunch, the ROH will be able to provide material from their library and archive collections including ephemera such as newspaper cuttings, and programmes. As well as members of the ROH Collections department on hand, present will be Monica Mason, former director of The Royal Ballet and a dancer who created a number of roles for MacMillan, and Jann Parry, author of the comprehensive MacMillan biography Different Drummer.

  • Date: Saturday 25 October 2014, 10:00am–3.00pm (doors open at 10:00 and we will start at 10:30)
  • Venue: Amphitheatre Restaurant at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden (directions). Entrance is from the Covent Garden piazza or from Bow Street. Ask a member of staff for directions to the Restaurant.
  • Participants: All welcome! We are hoping to have participation from several staff members and some external writers as well as interested Wikipedians. There is space for around 30 people in total.
  • Registration: Please sign up here.
  • Cost: Free.
  • Contacts: Any questions? Please contact Jonathan Cardy (WMUK)
