This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to New Zealand. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion

Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:

Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|New Zealand|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.

There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.

Removing a closed AfD discussion

Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.

Other types of discussions

You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to New Zealand. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

Comment: I believe 52 Men meets WP:NBOOK, with reviews in Landfall [1], Kirkus Reviews [2], Los Angeles Review of Books [3], and New Zealand Books [4]. The Missoulian (of all places) did a capsule review [5]. New Zealand Books also capsule reviewed Miss Me a Lot Of [6]. Maybe someone else can locate an additional review of Miss Me a Lot Of or an author profile -- I think that would unambiguously clear the WP:NAUTHOR bar. Snow keep The New Zealand politics task force agreed many years ago that three types of New Zealand politicians have inherent notability, namely legislative councillors, MPs, and Auckland councillors. The latter group was included because as their councillors represent way more people than any electorate MP does. Needless to say, Auckland councillors thus get a lot of media coverage. The New Zealand politics task force doesn't get to create its own special variant exemptions from WP:NPOL. There wouldn't be a problem with this if it were properly sourced, but Kiwis don't get to arbitrarily decree that their city councillors are exempted from having to pass WP:NPOL #2 just the same as city councillors anywhere else. Delete unless somebody can actually add the kind of content and sourcing it takes to properly establish the notability of a city councillor. As I noted above, the New Zealand task force doesn't get to carve out its own special New Zealand-specific exemptions from notability criteria — in any country, city councillors can keep articles that are reliably sourced and feature substantive content about the person's political impact (specific things they did, specific projects they spearheaded, specific effects their work had on the development of the city, and on and so forth), but in no country are city councillors ever exempted from the article having to be a lot more than just a bunch of primary sourced election results. So this could be kept if somebody's actually willing to put some effort into improving it, but its current state of substance and sourcing is not adequate at all. I'll grant that Auckland is a large and prominent enough city that such improvement may very well be possible, which is why I left that open for an "I could be persuaded to change my mind" proviso, but there's no automatic presumption of notability for a city councillor in the absence of such content and sourcing. Keep This Councillor is one of the most notable in Auckland Council, being number three in the power structure. He works at a central Government level which other Auckland Councillors do not. He meets the Wiki criteria for inclusion well ahead of other Auckland Councillors who are currently not nominated for deletion review. LorryMcc, 11 January 2025

Keep If someone can find archived Dunedin newspaper, this should be a very easy article to improve. The station looks to clobber the GNG if someone can get the sourcing for it, as it appears to have been the leading private station in this area for some time. Our NZ radio coverage, particularly on pre-internet topics, suffers from lack of references, but don't let that be a hindrance to determining notability. Rather than discussing PROD-nominees here, it is better to contribute to the talk page for the article nominated for deletion. If you agree with the proposed deletion, you don't have to do anything or you may second the nomination. If you think the article merits keeping, then remove the {{prod}} template and make an effort to improve the article so that it clearly meets the notability and verifiability criteria.
