Contest department

• The contest department has completed its fortieth month of competition. A total of 67 articles were entered by 7 editors. Sturmvogel 66 came first with 254 points from 42 entries, followed by Parsecboy with 109 points from 12 entries. Sturmvogel 66 receives the WikiChevrons, and Parsecboy the Writer's Barnstar. Honorable mentions go to YellowMonkey (30), Cam (25) and Djmaschek (22). Historical Perspective and WikiCopter also fielded entries. Please submit any articles you are working on for the October contest.

Awards and honours

• The WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves has been awarded to:
  • Moonriddengirl, in recognition of her unstinting dedication to finding and eliminating potential copyright concerns in military history articles. Her diligence and commitment have been crucial in helping maintain Wikipedia's reputation as an outstanding scholarly resource on military matters.

• The A-Class medal has been awarded to:
  • Cam for Operation Windsor, Kongō class battlecruiser and Japanese battleship Kirishima.
  • Constantine for Roman–Parthian War of 58–63, Byzantine civil war of 1341–1347 and John Kourkouas.
  • Magicpiano for Battle of Valcour Island, Battle of Quebec (1775) and Arnold's expedition to Quebec.

• The A-Class medal with Oak Leaves has been awarded to:
  • YellowMonkey: for 1965 South Vietnamese coup, December 1964 South Vietnamese coup and Nguyen Chanh Thi.

• The A-Class medal with Swords has been awarded to:
  • Parsecboy: for SMS Rheinland, SMS Kaiser (1911) and SMS Deutschland (1904).
