WikiProject Reformed Christianity

Some Wikipedians have formed a project to better organize information in articles related to Reformed Christianity (Calvinism). Wikipedia articles on Reformed Christianity-related topics are typically at or near the top of Google searches - so accurate, thorough, and - yes - comprehensive entries are imperative. This page and its subpages contain suggestions and it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. All editors interested in Reformed Christianity are invited and encouraged to participate. If you would like to help, please inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list here. The goals of the project are:

  1. To improve the quality of Reformed Christianity-related articles.
  2. To increase the number of articles related to Reformed Christianity in Wikipedia

The WikiProject scope is generally the same as that of the Category:Reformed Christianity. This includes any person having an impact on Calvinism, even opponents such as James I of England. Tagging an article indicates that the article needs attention from the WikiProject Reformed Christianity.

Reformed Christians to be included:

  • Theologians, philosophers, or some other important Christian worker, e.g. Bible translator, evangelist, etc.
  • Politicians (kings, lords, whatever) that had an influence on the ability of Reformed Christianity to spread, e.g. took in Reformed Christian refugees, were of help to Reformed Christianity materially, or the like
  • Ministers if they a have relevance to the wider Reformed tradition.

To join, add yourself to this list.

Tasks

  • Go to work in one of our departments; Assessment could use some help at the moment.
  • Help ensure that each of the topics which has separate articles in print encyclopedias receives some degree of similar attention here. An early listing of some such articles can be found at WP:WikiProject Reformed Christianity/Tasks/Prospectus.

Naming conventions

Naming conventions

  • For people: [[John Calvin]], unless others by that name exist, in which case the activity for which the individual is best known should be bracketed, e.g., [[John Calvin (reformer)]] (not [[John Calvin (scholar)]], [[John Calivn (theologian)]], etc.)
    • For clergy: (minister), (deacon), (priest), (bishop)
    • For scholars: (theologian), (philosopher)
    • Other possibilities: (author), (martyr), (missionary), (religious)
  • For other subjects: The simpler the title the better, with redirects or disambiguation pages, as necessary.
