Wikipedia talk:Unreferenced BLP Rescue

This is the talk page for the Unreferenced BLP Rescue Project.

A new newsletter directory is out!

edit

A new Newsletter directory has been created to replace the old, out-of-date one. If your WikiProject and its taskforces have newsletters (even inactive ones), or if you know of a missing newsletter (including from sister projects like WikiSpecies), please include it in the directory! The template can be a bit tricky, so if you need help, just post the newsletter on the template's talk page and someone will add it for you.

7 years later...

edit

The unreferenced BLP backlog has built up over the last few years to about 1,800 articles. Pinging editors that were involved when the project was last active: Milowent, Joe Decker, Whpq, Ponyo, J04n, The-Pope. I'd bet there are also some new blood that would be willing to support this project, myself included. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 04:49, 4 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

FYI User talk:Levivich/Archive 4#1815 unreferenced BLPs might have some more users who are interested. In that discussion I think we determined that the tagged backlog actually has some possible false positives in it, and I was using this search string (507 results) to try and filter out the false positives. I think Clovermoss might have gone through some manually, and also pinging BilledMammal who had made some quarry queries about it, I think Quarry:query/72076 (949 results) might be the most recent but I'm not sure. Thanks for the ping, this is definitely something I still care about. If anyone's interested in what I was doing with the manual organization, check my sandbox! Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 20:52, 4 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
There are definitely false positives. I've been adding sources to some and nominating others for deletion, and I've come across a bunch of false positives in the meantime. I update the maintenance tags whenever I find them. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 21:34, 4 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

I created two dumps a few years back - User:Ritchie333/Unreferenced and unlinked BLPs and User:Ritchie333/Unreferenced women BLPs. They may be a little out of date, but I'd guess probably not by much, given we've still got a general backlog. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:56, 5 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Pinging the active editors listed under members that I haven't already pinged, because these things never end: Hallucegenia, FeydHuxtable, TiMike, Dylan620, The Interior, WWGB, Michig. Remember when you joined this WikiProject on a whim all those years ago? Hello! Obviously I don't expect everyone to jump back in, but I'm just letting you guys know that the backlog is back since you expressed interest once upon a time. Hi folks, I just cleared out July 2019. They were all very easy to find good sources for. Will continue now and again. J04n(talk page) 18:19, 28 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Reviving this WikiProject

edit

Hello folks. I'd like to make this WikiProject more active and maybe hopefully inspire a backlog drive similar to the recent "citation needed" one. My talk page has some further thoughts. Courtesy ping to Levivich as well. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 15:52, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your efforts, Clovermoss. I've got this page watchlisted, and I'd happily participate in a drive. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 15:57, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ditto for me. -- Whpq (talk) 16:01, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
The recent unreferenced articles drive was engaging. I'd be happy to help work on the backlog of this project. As was mentioned on your talk page by Levivich it would be good to figure out how to identify unreferenced articles that haven't been tagged with maintenance categories. WikiProject Unreferenced articles backlog drive

edit

A belated notice, but Wikipedia:WikiProject Unreferenced articles is currently running a backlog drive to clear out unreferenced articles. As unreferenced BLPs are also articles, one of the goals is to clear out this backlog. The drive started a week ago, but interested editors are still invited to participate by signing up here and adding #NOV24 to relevant edit summaries.
