Press women event at Women in Red in May 2024

edit

A friendly FYI from Women in Red that we'll be facilitating a month-long "Press women" online event in May. Planning page here. The event page (still under construction) here. All are warmly welcome to participate! If you have suggestions for how this event can be better aligned with the objectives of Women Do News, we'd love to hear from you; please join the conversation on Women in Red's talkpage. Thank you. Non-binary

edit

Why does the Wikiproject say "We raise the visibility of women, women-identified and non-binary journalists" (my emphasis). Wouldn't including non-binary people be a form of 'non-binary phobia' because it implies that non-binary people are women? ―Panamitsu (talk) 03:10, 3 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

I agree, it should say non-binary women. But I can see that's also otherizing, and making womanhood as aptobinary by default. Woman-identified also implies some women don't identify as woman, and some woman-identifying individuals don't experience womanhood. 189.40.71.76 (talk) 13:54, 3 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yes to me "woman-identified" implies that trans women are not real women. ―Panamitsu (talk) 22:04, 3 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
