Bertram Lenox Simpson
(1877–1930)

British author who wrote about China under the pen name "B. L. Putnam Weale" or "Putnam Weale". He was in China during the Boxer Rebellion and during the siege of the legations. Among a variety of his journalistic jobs in China, he served as Daily Telegraph correspondent in Beijing from 1911 to 1914. The Fight for the Republic in China is probably his best-known work, that superceded his previous success, The Re-Shaping of the Far East.
