Inherited from Old East Slavic дългота (dŭlgota, longitude, duration; length), from Proto-Slavic *dьlgota (length), from *dьlgъ (long) + *-ota (-ness). By surface analysis, до́лгий (dólgij) +‎ -ота́ (-otá).
