Etymology
editFrom ме́ншы (mjénšy, “smaller”) + -асць (-ascʹ, “-ness”). Possibly a calque of Polish mniejszość, in turn a calque of Latin minōritās. Cognate with Ukrainian ме́ншість (ménšistʹ).
