Usage notes

edit

This term is seldom used comparatively (i.e. по́-стар (pó-star)) in reference to humans, as it typically bears connotations of especially old age. Largely, голя́м (goljám) is favoured over стар when comparing ages, whereas the latter is used when simply declaring the age of an elderly person.
