By surface analysis, אַלע (ale, all) +‎ וועגן (vegn, ways). Compare German allewege, allerwege, Alemannic German amigs, allwääg, Dutch allerwegen, English always. Intrusive ־ר־ (-r-) (also as seen in German) possibly from an older genitive form of אַלע (ale), as *אַלער (*aler); compare German aller.
