Etymology

Borrowed from Aramaic חָבִיתָא (ḥāḇīṯā, jug, amphora), as are also Arabic خَابِيَة (ḵābiya) and Ge'ez ኅበይ, ሕበይ (ḫəbäy, ḥəbäy), ultimately from Akkadian 𒂁𒉺𒅁𒌉 (ḫābû, ḫāpû, jug, amphora) of obscure origin.
