From Middle Persian [Term?] (/⁠sbwk⁠/), from Proto-Iranian *θrapuka-, from Proto-Iranian *θrap- (to be unsteady), perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *trep- (to tremble); if so, then cognate with Latin trepidus (nervous, perilous) and Russian трепа́ть (trepátʹ, to scutch; to flutter).[1]
