Usage notes
editThe word is a synonym of كَاهِن (kāhin, “priest”) in Arabic episcopal Christianity. In congregationalist Christianity, قِسّ (qiss) corresponds to several Protestant titles, like "pastor" or "minister," while كَاهِن (kāhin, “priest”) is not used, since these denominations have no priesthood.
