Related to چالیق (çalık, “struck, hit by a blow; bevelled, slanting, awry”), and that to چالمق (çalmak, “to strike, to hit by a blow”). Compare also Ottoman Turkish چلك (çelek, “wooden bucket”) and Persian چالیک (čâlik, “tipcat”), چلک (čalok, “tipcat”), Chagatai چالك (çalk, “tipcat”).
