Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘐𑘻𑘚 (goḍa), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀕𑁄𑀟𑁆𑀟 (goḍḍa), from Sanskrit गौड (gauḍa), the vṛddhi derivative of गुड (guḍa). Cognate with Konkani गोड (goḍ). Related with गूळ (gūḷ, jaggery).
