    Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘤𑘺𑘭𑘜𑘹 (baisaṇe) (compare 𑘤𑘺𑘙𑘜𑘹 (baiṭhaṇe)) with the aphaeresis of /u/[1] in Prakrit 𑀉𑀯𑀯𑀺𑀲𑀇 (uvavisaï), from Sanskrit उपविशति (upaviśati, to sit; to approach).[2]
