Borrowed from Sanskrit विपद् (vipad). Cognate with Sylheti ꠛꠤꠙꠖ (bifodo), Assamese বিপদ (bipod), Odia ବିପଦ୍ (bipad), Hindustani وپت / विपद् (vipad).
