Borrowed from Classical Persian مصر (misr), from Arabic مِصْر (miṣr), related to Hebrew מִצְרַיִם (mitsráyim). Compare Assamese মিচৰ (misor), Hindi मिश्र (miśra), Punjabi ਮਿਸਰ (misar), Odia ମିଶର (miśor), Sinhalese මිසරය (misaraya).
