edit- The adjective and first noun sense from Sanskrit मौल (maula, “original”),[1] vriddhi of मूल (mūla, “origin”). Doublet of মূল (mul), মূলা (mula), and মূল্য (mullo).
- The second noun sense is an alternative form of মউল (moul, “Madhuca longifolia”).
- The third noun sense is from Sanskrit मुकुल, मकुल, बकुल (mukula, makula, bakula), all borrowed from a non-Aryan source. Doublet of মুকুল (mukul), মউল (moul), বউল (boul), and বকুল (bokul).
- The fourth noun sense is from মোড়ল (mōṛol), from Prakrit 𑀫𑀁𑀟𑀮𑀺 (maṃḍali), from Sanskrit मण्डलिन् (maṇḍalin, literally “possessor of the territory”).
