editCompound of 微塵 (mijin, “particles, tiny pieces”) + 切り (kiri, “cutting”) + [Term?] (the 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “continuative or stem form”) of verb 切る (kiru, “to cut”)).[1][2][3][4] The kiri changes to giri as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
