Compound of 微塵 (mijin, particles, tiny pieces) +‎ 切り (kiri, cutting) +‎ [Term?] (the 連用形 (ren'yōkei, continuative or stem form) of verb 切る (kiru, to cut)).[1][2][3][4] The kiri changes to giri as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
